This anecdotal history of Tony from a close friend is a real treasure of revelation; thank you for the effort of securing the interview and posting it. On the unreleased "Wildlife" sessions from around '73 with Jack Bruce, Allan Holdsworth, and Tequila there is a song called "Little Zorro"; now we know where the title came from! Love the "slug soda" machine story of Tony the junior hu$tler!!! Tequila Logan has long been a mystery; it's interesting to hear about her "eye contact" method of mojo-juju personality evaluation. I guess if you failed her test she gave YOU the evil eye! 9 seconds ago
@@rhythmfield: Tequila was Laura "Tequila" Logan, the singer on Tony's "Old Bum's Rush" album and the unreleased " Wildlife / Stockholm" sessions; Tequila and Tony were reportedly also married.
I hung on for a great ride until the very last piece, I’m not sure who the person is they were referring to-Tequila? And: Is there any more of this interview in existence? It’s riveting… Tony was such a young, rare, true master of the drum, and truly an innovator- and changed the whole direction of the instrument in jazz. Howard Johnson was a great and highly respected musician himself-I didn’t realize he had a close connection with Tony in his earlier days.
