Some further information that wasn't in the video, Owain likely died by 1415, so I put the year of the rebellion as finishing at that date (Most put it between 1412-1415 at the latest). His family were captured and taken to the Tower of London following the siege and capture of Harlech Castle in 1409, his family all died there, most likely by 1415 by there doesn't appear to be any mention of them in history once captured. When Heny IV died in 1413 and his son Henry V took over, pardons were offered to rebellious leaders which included Owain, was he dead by this point or simply chose to ignore this out of fear of betrayal? Know one really knows.
If interested in the famous battle of Bryn Glas Hill, I recommend the book Glyn Dwr's War by Gideon Brough, I referenced it in the video and Description and it goes into a lot more detail over the Welsh troops that were believed to have defected, and also the army compositions and use of terrain.

Owain's son Maredudd did not accept the pardon until 1421. It was the pardon in 1417 that alerts us that Owain is probably dead as the emphasis is more on Maredudd.

I always feel patriotic when I research Welsh history
You will feel more Patriotic when you hear that many Welsh left their places of work and Welsh students left universities to return back to Wales to support Glyndwr, you may also feel more Patriotic to learn that the ancient cousins who went south into Brittany (during Saxon invasion) came over to fight with Glyndwr as well.
Wales got destroyed by English Army and Scotland didn’t involved because Welsh were fighting for England during Wars of Scottish Independence and lots of Scots were killed by Welsh longbowmen.
In Wales fighting for your country was more of a privilege than like in England were they were conscripted or forced to fight.

The last Prince of Wales
Big uproar in Wales recently over the naming of the 2nd Severn Crossing bridge as the Prince of Wales Bridge, referring to Prince Charles. Perhaps us Welsh should refer to it as the Owain Glyndwr Bridge...?
bujin1977 I think most people are still going to refer to it as The 2nd Severn Bridge but we all know who us Welsh will think of when we hear the name The Prince of Wales Bridge 😉 Old Charlie boy can go carry on waiting for his old girl to die so he can rule over England

@@GreenCocanix He most certainly is not. He is the latest in a long line of insults to the Welsh nation, stretching back to Edward II in the 13th century. (Not that I have anything personal against the man himself. It's his position I object to).

I think that particular image may have been missed in the edit, don't think it should have been there (Ridiculous the amount of lines I'm using on Adobe). I'm really enjoying the process as well, I am finding that I am also learning new things or refreshing things I already knew when researching some of these videos. Actually Edward I didn't conquer Cymru until 1283. The war against him didn't end with Llywelyn the Lasts death at Cilmeri as his brother Dafydd continued the war with Edward unit his capture in 1283.

The challenge with these videos is always to try and get as much in as I can within 5 minutes or less, unfortunately that does mean some stuff doesn't always get included. Think of them as more of a beginners guide for people to quickly digest the information. I haven't recorded any of these in awhile, but the good news is I should be back with more of them soon.

You missed out the part where glyndwr and the French invaded England and initiated a stalemate with the English where they had their own tactics used against them at the battle of Woodbury hill. Everyone always forgets about Woodbury hill. The English adopted the welsh strategy of always attacking from above and refused to leave their high ground to engage the welsh/French in battle. The stalemate ended and the welsh French armies went home. England refused to give them a fight and chose to block off their supply routes until they gave up and went home 😂
