Have a great day y'all!
Bill Said on a podcast she's the daughter of a friend couple who work as stunts, and the guy with glasses from the store who gets butthead from Ronny is the stunt double for Matt Damon, also if you slowdown when Ronny does the roundhouse kick on Loach, he kicked so hard you can see on the reflection of the window behind him how the prop head flies across the room
I was lucky enough to be in the room to help her record her ADR and fight efforts for this episode. Seeing her dad beaming with pride over at the side of the room while watching his daughter work was a really cool moment I'll remember for a long time. You're really good at this type of content, and I look forward to reliving the rest of the episodes along with you!
@@JonathanJJZ Also, the actor/stuntman who plays Ronny is Daniel Bernhardt (The Matrix Reloaded + Resurrections, John Wick, Logan, Nobody etc.)
She's the rabbit from "Monty Python and The Holy The Grail"
Jessie, along with her brothers, is the daughter of two stunt performers, they live in Malibu.
"I don't wanna sound like a creep, but do you wanna get in the car with me and my friend?"
Stephen Root deserved the Emmy this season. Brilliant performance in an incredible episode.
“I have corn chips” lmao
They play with the editing in this show, I’m pretty sure I heard Bill Hader talking about this episode, and they edited Ronny swinging the nunchuks on a loop so every time you see him it’s the same shot 😂
@@StayFractalesque he explains it better in the interview lol just look up ronny/lily the ringer. It’s a short clip.
The fact that Bill Hader wrote, directed, produced and played the leading role in this show still amazes me
He directs for every episode but this is one of the special cases where he wrote directed and starred in an episode all at once.
well yeah I mean he’s really talented
Although the person 'fighting' Daniel is a stunt performer, not Bill.
The “okay she’s not human” and “WHAT ARE YOU!?!” are amazing quotes, also when she’s just perched on the roof like some feral monkey spider hybrid is so incredibly iconic.
I love that they called her a “little gargoyle”. How often do people get to use that word 😂
shaun of the dead/hott fuzz fence hopping scene nod was perfection
I’m so so glad you enjoyed this episode as much as I did! The absurd humor and horror mixed with the surreal dream scenes in the desert makes the episode super memorable in my mind. Love this episode, it really shows the true upward curve of Bill Hader and his directing skill that only improves as the show goes on. Excited to see you react to season 3, the episodes remind me of this one a lot.
One of the best episodes of any tv series I've ever watched. I've been waiting for you to react to this for what feels like months lol. The pan around the room showing off all the trophies kills me every single time.
I'll never forget watching this live 4 years ago. It immediately after Game of Thrones: The Long Night and felt like an absolute fever dream. I couldn't stop laughing. Easily my favourite episode of the series.
Yeah, I remember seeing it immediately after and the stark (haha) contrast between a show coming into it's own vs a show in game of thrones that was only getting worse... stuck with me even till today.
Fuchs' expressions when he screamed "what are you" was the perfect combination of anger and confusion. Great reaction as usual bro
Admit it. We were ALL waiting for this episode.
A lot of us were anticipating your reaction to this episode. It's one of the craziest things I've ever seen put to film.
My favorite episode of anything I've seen on TV in terms of comedy and...horror? LOL
Nah, Ozymandias is better.
@@MamadNobari I would say s3 has episodes that are on par with it
@@lilbubblegumleaks8104 So far season 3 of Barry has had the best episodes of the show.
@@MamadNobari yea I would say so too. S2 I think has the best action sequences. But s3 is prolly the best season overall. Has some of the best acting I’ve seen on tv for a while and also all the twists and turns are fantastic.
@@MamadNobari that's your opinion. in my personal opinion I can name at least 15 episodes of shows I like more than Ozymandias. it's not even my favourite Breaking Bad episode.
"Go Diana"
"NEEDLE AND THREAD!"
"FOR STICHES!"
"BECAUSE I'M DYING!"
Since you first started this series that's was the ONE episode I've been waiting for you to react to!! You did not disappoint!!!
this series is literally why ive grown to appreciate Stephen Root a lot more to the point where i find myself searching for anything he’s in lol
He, Phil Hartman and Joe Rogan were great in News Radio.
"Hey uh, I don't wanna sound like a creep, but do you wanna get in a car with me and my friend?" my favorite line from this show.
If you look closely at the reflection in the window, when Ronny kicks Loach, the actor broke the puppet and send it's head flying across the store. Bill Hader thought it was so funny he left it in, and then Loach's body is intact in the next shot :'D
Daniel Bernhardt is a great martial artist and actor. I met him right after he performed in matrix reloaded as one of the main agents. Super cool dude.
I've seen almost every reaction to this and you're the only one who made the shortcut connection... that's why you're the best
Ahh The one we’ve all been waiting for lol. They went ham on this episode and it’s freaking genius. sometimes I just watch this one on its own because it’s that inspiring. So good
this episode is a perfect example of plot vs. story. everything that happens causes something else to happen, which is why i think the writing and directing are so superb here.
Ronny is played Daniel Bernhardt. He was one o fthe upgraded Smiths in the second two Matrix movies. Got to hire him once for a project. Great martial artists and a good dude.
One of the best TV episodes ever!!!
Such an amazing episode. I laughed so hard when I first watched it. Was in tears when Fuches says he superglued his hands to the steering wheel. Bill Hader's talent is something else.
You know since you started this show in season 1, I was waiting for this day… a true crowning achievement in television…
1 of my favorite episodes of anything ever
Love how this show can be dramatic, serious, funny and out right ridiculous when it wants to, why not? this isn’t reality and we shouldn’t hold the show to said standards.
It’s entertaining watching creators just have fun with their projects and it shows here.
Bill Hader has said this is the episode where the show distinguishes itself from out of the Breaking Bad shadow. I don’t know if I agree with that personally, I think the show stood on its own just fine before this, but it’s hard to deny this is a landmark episode for the whole show
Your reaction to Lily on the floor has gotta be one of the top moments ever on your channel 😂
13:49 In a BTS, the tree was added by CGI, if i remember correctly, was because they couldn't find one that match the one Bill Harder wanted.
18:58 If you go frame by frame, you can see the doll body that was use for the roundhouse kick and the head went flying.
Yay!!! It's here! It's here! It's finally here 🤗
This episode it batshit insane and it's amazing 🤩
18:59 in the reflection in the window, you can see the head of the mannequin they used in this stunt fly off 🤣
Like many others I have been eagerly anticipating you getting to this one from the moment you started this series. It might be one of the best episodes of television ever.
It aired on the same night as the Battle of Winterfell episode of Game of Thrones, "The Long Night". A more drastic difference in quality would be tough to imagine.
Fun fact, Ronny is played by Daniel Bernhardt. A veteran stuntman from John Wick, Logan and Nobody. He played Agent Johnson in The Matrix Reloaded and for you RLM fans he was the main character in the cardboard box and Robert Z'Dar movie, Future War.
I remember watching the winterfell battle episode with my buddies a couple days after it aired and we were all pretty disappointed. Then I told them about this episode of Barry that had just aired and we all watched this one the same night. You're right, the difference is palpable. Such an epic and hilarious sequence.
this episode is like the 'Pine Barrens' of Barry
when i first watched the show i thought it was taking a sudden sci-fi turn cuz i thought the little girl was supposed to actually be a superhuman being 😂😂 i was like oh ok i guess this is the direction the shows going, but no she’s just a well trained demon child
Love this series, have been waiting for this video since episode 1!
Stephen Root is such a delight here.
One of the best of the series. Been waiting for this one and the previous one. Everyone got pieced up 😂
One the wildest episodes of any show I've ever seen. A real ride.
I hope you know that that Daredevil fight scene was an homage to the Korean film Old Boy. If you haven't seen that movie, holy cow, you NEED to see it.
This is in my top 5 episodes of comedy. Just amazing. When it aired I watched it and then immediately watched it again lol
Lmao😂😂I think this is the loudest I've heard James laugh and scream 🤣🤣🤣💀😂😂🤣
fun fact. this ep was people's intro to Barry because it came after GoT's battle of winterfell episode. but since that GoT ep disappointed a lot of people because it was shot too dark, this ep became the watercooler conversation by the following Monday.
This is the episode where Barry went from BizzaroWorld Breaking Bad to BizzaroWorld Big Lebowski (a lot of B's right there)
I can totally picture Walter Sobchak with his hands glued to a steering wheel and The Dude explaining "She's... she's not of this world, man"
Possibly Barry’s best episode and funniest 😂😂
Easily in my top 5 TV episodes I've seen just ever, perfect from start to end.
This is my favorite episode
The first time I watched this episode I found it to be a rather jarring deviation from what I was used to when watching Barry. Which was really surprising to me considering I love more absurd and surreal things. However after a second watch and a expectation readjustment I absolutely loved this episode. Definitely in my top 5 for Barry
The best episode of Barry ever. Hoping to see Lily again.
This definitely in my Top 3 episodes of this show.. it’s a crazy ride. I gotta know how people come up with these ideas when developing a script, had to be high af 😂
Honestly this show is as close as i think you can get to a modern masterpiece
I’ve been waiting so long for this video
The moment this episode started and I just saw Daniel Bernhardt, I was like yeah Barry is about get wrecked.
The use of surrealism only ramps up for season 3 it’s fantastic.
Seriously greatest episode of tv ever
I don’t always comment but here to say thanks for the commentary man
This is easily my favorite episode…so far!
To everyone, especially James.
If you enjoyed this episodes tone, and humor/ combat. I highly highly suggest "the Art of Self Defense" its a hilarious under rated movie that has the same blend of surreal-dark-humor and it is severely under watched, this episode is almost tonally identical to this movie, hope you enjoy.
This episode is so much fun
Idk how not one reactor has caught the LeAnn Rimes hits playing in the grocery store at the end ("How Do I Live"). lol. at 17:29 during the Ronnie reveal it's synched with the line "How do I breathe without you". lmao
I would pay good money to of seen Stephen Root’s reaction when he read the script and saw that Lilly was gonna bite his face and latch on like a pitbull on a shank bone.
the fight reminds me of Kill Bill Vol.1 mixed with Pine Barrens from the sopranos lol
I almost died laughing at this episode 😂
best episode everrrrrrrrr
This girl was in cast for Wolverine's daughter in Logan.
Ronny's double leg jump which missed cranked the shit out of me, the best episode in whole Barry show right there, gold comedy
17:02, you and Barry had the same expression. 🤣
Lol the daredevil shoutout
the sound in this ep is done soo well
I imagine the way they thought of those characters was that they started to talk about how Tae Quan Do is one of the least specialized martial arts, so to be really good at it, you'd have to generally be extremely strong on your own, and just took that to the extreme.
Good catch on the homage to Edgar Wright's backyard shortcuts.
Additionally, for me, any shot of two people screaming from inside a speeding car is a callback to the Coen brothers' "Raising Arizona."
Been leaving comments teasing this episode since you reacted to S1-E1.
Glad it paid off for you.
Now, it's on to waiting for you to sit down for some free therapy with Dr. Mitch in Season 3's "710N."
Enjoy!
Season 3 is my favorite, but rewatching it this episode is so good lol. Stephen Root is so funny.
Favorite shot in this episode is him walking out of the house, taking his sober off, and you can see the blood start pooling and dripping down the inside of the t-shirt. So sick.
been waiting for this one!!!
Man couldn't wait til you got to this one lmao, this is where the show went from Great to Amazing imo. I was in tears when i first watched it and she bit Fuches face haha. Def one of the best eps of the show 😂
This episode is really tough for me.. I'm only one episode ahead, s2e6, but we almost stopped watching the show because of this episode. For the show being relatively rooted in reality, with obviously some absurdity in terms of situations and irony, this episode feels like they cranked the absurdity to 100, and the kinda grotesque shots of Barry's back in particular turned off my gf. The episode is FUNNY, and it leaves the show in a better spot with Loach dead, but it was definitely a shock on first watch lol. Watching it back with you I think I can appreciate it a bit more, but I'm glad this didn't turn you off the show lol
Daniel Bernhardt is a legend
This is my favorite episode of season 2
This is the episode that help me through the disappointment of Game of Thrones episode that same night lol (the one the White Walker attack Winterfell)
"How did this freakin turn into a horror film??" hahahahahahaha 😳
"Who's TaeKwondo trophys are these? Oh you got meadals too.." 🤔
Ronny had that Leon s Kennedy kick
The writing on this show is reminiscent to me of Elmore Leonard, than which there is no higher compliment.
Some behind the scenes facts, the tree that the little girl climbed up wasn’t real, it was actually built by the crew to cgi a tree there. They built handles for the girl to grip whilst she climbed. (strapped in on wires, for safety reasons)
When fukes gets out of the car and walks over to the little girl, Bill Hader is watching the shot through a small monitor in his lap whilst he’s sitting in the car.
The little girl’s name in real life is Jessie Giacomazzi, a professional stunt performer, her family has the same profession. The guy who played Ronny is also a professional stunt person.
This is my favorite episode of the entire series so far, btw. Alright, I’ll stop commenting now.
this is just a review not a reaction
Glad you liked this episode, alot of people have mixed feelings about it
would barry have made it to green belt? as a gray belt, he fights like a tan belt.
Barry’s blood goatee really bothered me lol
Was any of your reaction meant to be in this CZcams video or just your review?
Based on the other comments, it was definitely here initially. I guess the entire reaction portion got claimed or something.
Only seen this episode once and it kinda annoyed me. Like it shouldve been really clear in the beginning that NEITHER of them was going down easily. I get his hesitation, but dude...eventually it turns from a job to it (should be) tying up loose ends
Origine story of the next female marvel hero.came home intruder killed my daddy, fought intruder but i´m not a killer so let him go.I AM Kwon Do Girl.!!
am I losing my mind or is this video 4 minutes long?
I do really enjoy this episode, and I did the first time - *but* - I still feel like they went just a touch too far on the "supernatural" capabilities of Lily. The wirework is just a little bit too noticeable, and stuff like her kicking Barry *over* the kitchen counter & the amount of bass in her big scream was enough to make me feel like it was being actual "comedy" rather than "very funny", if that makes sense.
18:59 K.O.!
Rewatching this episode four years later, I can’t believe this was my least favorite
Stephen Root was incredible in this one for sure
Enjoy seasons 1 and 2 are great. I personally think it's not that great 3 and 4
It's a zombie episode 😅😅😅
