Congratulations, Jose!
Always like to see new tech. The no branding on the front of this device is so much better.
I've been looking for something like this for a while. My car is older and I don't want to spend nearly $1000 to buy the brackets and full head unit to put into it. I appreciate you taking the time to review this product. I'll definitely keep this one on the radar and check back to your channel for any future updates!
I found this after looking for a new radio with Bluetooth.. yeah they wanted 1700 if I wanted a backup camera
wtf kinda car you have lol. 1000$ is a lot man. You can get a decent unit for 300$ and pay 100 to install
If your car is double din, you can get an ATOTO stereo. It's an android powered head unit with Carplay and Android Auto built in. It was $300. The wiring adapter kit was $20. Simple installation too
Great review and seems like a better unit than the one I purchased. Thanks for taking the time to share these products!
Awesome vid. Thanks for comparing this to the carpuride unit, so helpful!
This is really cool and seems like a great way to get carplay into my older car. Thanks for the great review.
Thanks for showing the maps in action, all other videos I came across missed on showing how does Maps look while in navigation. I am looking out for an alternative to my in car head unit as it's very tiny and difficult to look at while driving. This would fit my purpose.
Thanks for the great content we always enjoy your show as you keep us from buying the wrong products!
Man this very good video I really appreciate it I was looking for some videos of the lamttio. You made it very clear and understandable appreciate it
looks like a great product for an older car. thanks for the video!
Your review convinced me to buy the Lamtto unit. I’m looking forward to using it.
I just got mine, but idk how to install the rear view camera
I won’t need to install the rear view camera as my car already has one - sorry can’t help you there.
Put me in coach! I've done a lot of looking and this looks to be the best bang for your buck unit with no real 'fatal' flaws. It's on my birthday wish list lol
got one yesterday this thing is amazing the BT sound quality is great i was skeptical until i hooked it up and wow
I’m happy to hear that!
Been looking for a new really good dash cam and this looks pretty awesome. Gonna have to consider this one.
Thanks for the video. I have been looking at this for a few days.
Thank you for the review! Do you know what the size of the ball on the arm extension?
Thanks for the video! I've spent all evening googling these and yours was the most informative content I've found ❤
A question occurred to me on rewatching this today. I think I know the answer but don't want to assume: Does the device contain dual Bluetooth radios, ie. Can it communicate with both your phone's Android Auto or CarPlay wirelessly *and* with your car's Bluetooth audio receiver in the head unit at the same time or is it an either/or proposition which you use the Bluetooth connectivity for?
@gweilo8888 unfortunately I’m unable to test this, as my car doesn’t support Bluetooth streaming. I will say that I’ll hear music through my AirPods, but Waze comes out the CarPlay unit.
@@TechWinnerCCThanks anyway!
@@TechWinnerCC I went ahead and bought one myself so I can now confirm: It can't bluetooth stream directly from the device to the car's head unit, but it doesn't *need* to. The phone connects to both the screen and head unit and then routes the audio to the head unit, instead of routing it to the screen for playback as it does when using the screen's internal speaker. This all makes sense too, as it's pretty trivially easy to route the audio given the phone is rendering the entire feed internally and just transmitting the video to the screen which basically acts as a fancy, modern, touchscreen, camera and microphone-equipped dumb terminal. So although it lacks the feature I asked about, it isn't an issue in the least.
@@gweilo8888when using Bluetooth does the audio connect to the CAR Build in Speaker or does it have to be Aux wired for it be used on the car speaker
Did you ever try/test the backup camera? Thinking of getting one of these for my wife's 2012 Escape.
Sold me on it, I was really close to going for a carburider w701 pro or this westods from Amazon, but the lamtto seem to have more consistent reviews. Hopefully I get a a solid make!
Should be receiving mines tomorrow from Amazon. How do you like it ?
Okay Donnie - you just gave my wife a great idea for my Christmas - I’m sold!
Looks like a nice unit. The Carpuride has some nice features. Looks like you win if you go either route.
great review would the display be bright enough to use on a motorcycle in the daylight?
Thanks for the educational overview. I enjoyed it.
I’d like to know more about the Bluetooth to audio option. I’m looking at a car without it and am not sure how this product addresses it. Thanks!
@techwinner, can one connect to this via Bluetooth? IN other words can I play my Spotify on the car stereo through Bluetooth, will the voice from Waze come through my stereo? Will my steering wheel commands work when connected via Bluetooth? Or must all it work through aux. Will my phone calls come through the Bluetooth?
Will look at the UK site for details. Thanks for a great review.
You did a great video. Very straight forward and to the point
Is there a way to mute the audio on the unit itself? The audio output on the unit is low quality in my opinion, and I want to listen to music through my vehicle's sound system without blaring my speakers to drown out the sound of the unit. Thanks for your time!
How does it pass thru audio to the car radio? Does the phone bluetooth to the unit and the unit bloetooths to the radio (as our car radio has bluetooth)? Or does the phone pass audio to the raio directly and thei unit is just connected to the phone as a spotify controller?
Can you connect it to your cars Bluetooth so you don't lose the steering wheel controls for calls shipping etc
Interested in this, when using Carplay, where does the mic pick up from? I have handsfree already in my truck, does it us my phone, my truck, the unit? I can't find this info anywhere. Thanks!
I ordered one and my rearview camera didn't come with the red wire to tap into the brakes to automatically switch when reversing.
Is that normal? Would I need to get my own red wire?
I bought two of them earlier from Walmart with the rearview cameras. One for my older ram, 2500 and one for the semi truck that I drive every night I did not want to go through all the trouble of swapping out the radio in my pick up plus I wanted to dash him so I think this will work good
Does the back camera turn on when you switch to reverse?
Great review. Would like to see the blutooth functionlity.
Is there a device that lets you call through your car speakers using bluetooth only?
I have a 2009 Toyota Sequoia purchased used. I replaced the head unit with a Sony. The problem is during the day I cannot read the screen because of glare. Is that an issue with the Lamatto?
So the dash cam only goes forward not like carpuride which goes 360 it has sound ?
My VW doesn't support any aftermarket support when it comes to the stereo. I definitely need a device like this.
can u screen share ? like stream youtube or something on it ?
I've had one on order from Amazon for a week now but they keep delaying the shipping. I'm going to cancel the order and maybe get the Carpuride with dual bluetooth, I'm tired of waiting.
How do I get apple maps fullscreen instead of split screen with the dash cam?
Thank you for the great review. I had inye comment, I wanted to touch on. You said the FM transmitter was no good. Could it be, because you are using an existing.power cable.
In the instructions in says not to use anything else, because the original has a built in FM transmitter in the power adapter. Was just a thought, because i just got mine today. 😊
does the dashcam work like a normal dashcam as in does it start automatically and records wwithout we doing anything or do we have to run the dvr application everytime and start the recording manually, also can it record in the background when we are using carplay?
How well did the hands free work? Soon in our state we will have to use a hands free device, so this is important. Thank you.
Can you use navigation and dashcam at the same time?
Can anyone pleeaase test for me whether you can connect the iPhone to a none apple audio device (like headphone or car BT) and still have this display work fine as well?
Thanks for the review. I'm getting one.
Its in the mail.
On the front end of this comment, I'll say that I felt like I was sitting in a corporate meeting hearing "on the front end" or "on the back end" that many times LOL.
On the back end of this comment, I'll say that I enjoyed the video. Interesting unit.
Bahahaha 🤣🤦♂️
My cousin had one of these when I visited him and I've been doing research since. Was going to try and snag one during holiday sales but would love to win one for free😜great vid!
I've been looking to add ApplePlay to my parents' 2008 Rogue. Looks like this will do.
Not sure if the unit is upgraded now but the new ones doesnt have that blue bar on that corner. It fills up the entire screen now. There is a square icon with a circle inside that can navigate back to home which you can place anywhere you want to.
Do u have to download an app to cast your phone to the screen?
Can anyone suggest what to do when mine shuts off to say on the screen:
Detected a change in the system power supply mode, confirmed to be powered by car charging, cancelled to power the step- down line.
Then it shuts off, I can't figure out why and what I need to do. I searched everywhere and found nothing.
So I don’t have to connect through my car? Strictly through my iPhone Bluetooth?
I installed a backup camera bit whein i put the car into reverse it shows the front camera not the back one
Great review. Thanks!!
Awesome review. Do you have a video on the USB extension that hides the wires?
No, but I have a link to the cables I used in the description.
Thanks
I have a 2004 Toyota Camry and I’m also going to drive it until the wheels fall off! I don’t have the aux option or Bluetooth in my oldie, so I will have to go the fm transmitter option, unfortunately.
This is perfect for my 2013 ford 150. Didn't want to spend 1000.00 changing the head unit
Thanks for you video, i just have a question, and is about how did you do to place the power wired hidden?
I just tucked it along the dashboard and windshield, down along door sill, and under the glovebox up into my center console. Every car is different, but it was quite easy on my car.
Where do your wires go I know you said they were running into the dash but does it come out the bottom and plug into the cig charger? I would like to see the setup looks clean
My car has a dc power port in the center console, so I gave it routed there.
loving the Nashville SC SHIRT
I just picked up a Carpuride 903W for $160 on Amazon through a promo discount. Since price was the same as Lamtto, I got the Carpuride
Can the rear camera run full time?
Awesome review. Thank you
Does the unit have a built in microphone?
Do you need to hookup to your car radio
Good review, thanks. Hopefully you’re still monitoring your older videos for comments.
I’m considering getting this for my 2013 Mazda CX-5. I am able to connect my phone to the car via Bluetooth for Spotify and phone calls. I’m a bit confused about this product. Will I be able to connect my android phone to the Lamtto via Bluetooth and then connect the device to my car via Bluetooth so Spotify will play through the car speakers?
Thanks for watching, and yes and yes. Both will work.
Hey, quick question, how well does the maps/navigation work on that unit. Is it like apple maps on the Iphone or is it a little bit laggy/jumpy? The navigation is my main selling point. Great review by the way!
Thanks for the kind words! It’s like any other CarPlay experience. Scrolling a map won’t be buttery smooth, but I think that’s by design to minimize how much someone can/will interact with the screen while driving.
Oops forgot to mention i never used apple carplay before. Mostly need it for nav instead of using my phone and wasting battery. like for example does it take a couple of seconds to show your exact location? or is it like on the phone where theres also no delay on exact location? @@TechWinnerCC
@whydoe there is no built in navigation. Your phone becomes the source of navigation. That’s the whole point. In my opinion, built in navigation systems are a thing of the past. Little to no app or map updates, and in my experience they’re much slower than using a CarPlay or Android Auto interface.
How is the camera connected?
What carpuride unit was that ? Is the FM trasmission bad ? Or is it ok on the Lamtto ? It is currently my only option for connecting. I currently have a bluetooth fm transmitter and it works pretty good.
Carpuride W103. Both products are poor at FM, in my experience.
i have a g37 and would like to get apple car play in it but companies that have the full units like nifty city and grom vlite and the tesla screen options are way to expensive so i figured going this route. Does this obstruct the view outside your windshield. the dash setup in a g37 from the car your using in the vid is completely the same and as ive noticed the windshield angle is very close to the dash. does that also cause issues?
My G25 is identical to your G37, except for the engine size. It does not obstruct my view. From my sight line, it’s only covering the hood.
Has anyone else gotten the airplay to work. Car play works great but want to use airplay and it will not connect
Ive been definitely looking into this csuse i have 2006 Chevy trailblazer
Thank you for the review. Will I consider buying this device... or would I win it? ;-) :-D
this is the unit I bought but I think mine has different firmware maybe. I don't get that blue bar on the side and I wish I did.
Question does CZcams work on it like if wanted to hear a music video
Excellent video. One question, how do you power the rearview camera, is it powered by connecting it to the screen unit or does it need any special wiring done? Thanks.
It’s powered by connecting it to the unit
Thanks 👍
I bought 2 of these, the LAMTTO RC09 and RC07. The RC07 needs a firmware update. I contacted their customer support through email 3 times and they never responded. Terrible customer service. Would never recommend to anyone.
@AntonioMelo-hx8zd that disappointing to hear. Just to double check, did you use the email address on their contact page? I’m sure they’ve had limited support hours during the holidays. Just making sure you’re going through the channels on their website. lamtto.com/pages/contact-us
Are you able to have your phone plugged into the USB port of your G37, have music playing out from there while connected to the wireless CarPlay screen? Does it work?
Yes it does. Totally understand what you’re asking. Such an Infiniti problem LOL
Do any of these support Amazon Alexa. ?
Quick question, when this says it does Bluetooth, does it actually send Bluetooth audio to the cars stereo system? I got the smaller 7” one for my dad for Christmas but it only has the FM option, the Bluetooth doesn’t actually seem to be able to transmit audio. Thanks!!
Assuming the car supports Bluetooth streaming, yes. My 2011 doesn’t - it supports Bluetooth phone calls but not streaming. They’re two different things. Wonder if your dad’s car is like that: supporting Bluetooth calls only.
@@TechWinnerCC ahh that could be. He’s got a 2012 Colorado and it has hands free calling which connects using Bluetooth to his phone, but I don’t think it allows for Bluetooth streaming. That makes sense now. Really appreciate your insight!
Hi can you make calls on your phone with this ?
Just picked up one of these, excited to install but noticed that the rear cam is powered by the main unit, it has a trigger wire but no ground - is this at risk of shorting out the reverse light? Sorry quite new to all of this. Thanks!
We’re talking five volts. I wouldn’t worry too much about a short.
@@TechWinnerCC Thank you so much!
Three questions: does the dash mount have tape vs. screws, can it mirror an android phone, does it have it's own map function or only when mirroring?
You can mount via 3M or screws. It supports Android Auto. It doesn’t have a built in map app.
How's the mic quality?
Good review. Dashcam question: have you tried to export the footage from the unit to your iPhone?
Not with this unit. Overall (with the vast majority of dashcams) I've found the experience for offloading directly to an iPhone via an app to be clunky. Much easier to just do playback on the device or remove the SD card to move the video files to a computer as needed.
Does any one know if the fm radio transmitter is that bad?
Thanks so much, I have a 2011 Acura so I'm thinking about it getting one
Haha same! I have a TL.
Well I got it. And it is awesome. It had an update so that little blue side bar is gone. There is only a white dot you can move around to access the same things. It’s like Guided Access on the iPhone.
Awesome unit!
Thank you so much for this review. Do you know if the screen supports multi-touch gestures like pinch zoom? I purchased a very similar unit from a different company on Amazon (their product is currently in the top 5 car stereo receivers) and it does NOT support multi-touch. Given that this one is very similar I fear that it doesn't either. Thanks in advance.
CarPlay doesn’t support multitouch. I don’t know about Android auto.
Thanks for the reply!
At least for CarPlay, it’s an intentional design choice by Apple. I think their goal is to limit a driver’s interaction with touchscreens to as little as possible. Safety first.
That makes sense, I never thought of it that way. Android Auto definitely does allow it.
Hello, I wanted to know if you can connect to the internet via Wi-Fi and if you can see them on an Android or iPhone phone.
I think I’m following your train of thought. If you’re wirelessly connected to CarPlay, you won’t be able to connect to another WiFi network.
How is the audio quality compared to the audio from your stock unit?
As I mentioned in the video, my options are limited and the FM option isn’t great.
The mounting unit that came with this. Do you have to screw holes into the dash?
It does have 3m adhesive. I ended up using screws once I was sold on this being a permanent install for me.
Does anyone know how to change the start up logo on these?
Hey…!!!!
Does this screen have the possibility of changing the ignition screen for the car logo?
Not that I’ve been able to find.
Great. Very informative
Hi, I have a question: can the whole device be flipped 180° and used near the ceiling? does the image on the display and camera rotate like on a mobile phone? Or can this be set in the menu?
Edit:
How do you get the camera footage to your phone or to the Cloud? Is it necessary to take out the SD card and use a reader or can it be shared? Can the footage be locked against overwriting (automatically/manually) like standard dash cams do?
Thank you for the answer.
I don’t see a way to flip the image. You need to remove the SD card to get the footage somewhere else.
@@TechWinnerCC Thank you :-)
@@MaximusDementus Note also that removing the SD card is a royal pain in the butt because the position the designers chose is *awful*. It's on the back, squeezed in right next to the power and rear camera cables around the back (windshield) side of the device in a location that's impossible to see from the driver's seat without unmounting from windshield or dash mount, and hard to see even from the passenger seat unless you can swing the screen sideways on the incredibly flimsy (but still moderately usable, if bouncy and prone to suddenly swinging sideways during turns) windshield mount.
(I consider the mount to be worthwhile solely for fine-tuning screen positioning on a few drives before affixing it permanently in place with the far superior dash mount, btw.)
The card slot also makes it very fiddly to push on the card to eject the card without using some fine-tipped tool to push on it, and even when ejected as forcefully as it can be, it stays more than half-inserted. It's then *extremely* fiddly to pull out with fingertips alone and even with tweezers it takes me 2-3 tries. But realistically, I'll only occasionally need to remove the card, so it's not a *huge* deal.
Overall, despite some quirks and some illogical / unergonomic hardware design choices and a worrying lack of any obvious source for firmware updates, I still think it's a great buy too! It's just not going to work mounted upside down and flipped in software.
*BUT* I'm 99% certain you could just screw the screen onto the mount upside down as I'm pretty sure I remember the dash mount having four symmetrically-placed screws on a symmetrically-shaped attachment interface. I'll be properly hard-wiring my screen in the next few days and will endeavor to confirm for you that this approach would work fine.
Assuming the windshield itself is clear in the right place I'm thinking it should function quite well as a camera-equipped rearview mirror of sorts, too. The only potential issue I see there is that it may bother you (I'm not too bothered by it even if I think it's a silly choice) that neither camera matches the aspect ratio of the screen itself, and that you have a choice of the camera view being stretched horizontally if viewed full-screen, or squashed horizontally if viewed side-by-side or in the half-screen mode alongside a (basically unusable, as the fonts are FAR too small in half-screen mode) Android Auto display.
Oh and yes, footage can be locked. You can also record an absurd amount of video on a dirt-cheap MicroSD card bought separately so realistically, you don't even need to use the lock function as odds are you'll get a chance to offload a clip long before you run out of room with even just a 128-256GB MicroSD costing US$8-12. The lock function might also serve as a way to re-find the right video clip if it actually locks the file using the file system, though, so it may still serve that use.
I bought one just this week diff brand hope its have time stamp ,but they all the same
I just ordered this for my 2012 maxima ? Can you inform me on what you used to to give it the clean look (no dangling wires)
Links are in the description to everything I used.
Thank you ! I just got mine for my 2012 Maxima. But I only had to hide the type c power cord since i have the usb auxiliary in the center console it allows me to just plug my phone there and connect to the CarPlay ! Thanks again if I didn’t see your video I would’ve spent 6-700 on a nifty city headset or something
