  • The two contenders for the best portable wide angle lens in the Fujifilm X-Mount lineup. In this video I try to help you deciding which one is the lens for you.
    An F2.8 third party lens vs. a legacy F4 lens (the new version).
    One is stabilized, the other isn't.
    One has the aperture ring, the other doesn't.
    Yet they are fairly close overall, despite some notable differences.

    Very good comparison video as usual, I have the XF10-24 WR and I’m very happy with the results that I get on the X-T4, but to be honest, I only use the lens once in blue moon, I got it because I wanted a new toy for my collection, 95% of my photos are taken with the XF16-80 and the XF70-300, for anything else I use primes. Be well and stay safe.

    I experience that problem with the distance display in the camera being very erratic with the 10-24. I had such a problem I set back my lens and camera to Fujifilm for repair. They said no problem. Thank you for letting me know you have the same problem. I wish neither of us had that problem.

      I believe it's more than just you and me. It's a widespread thing. I definitely wish I didn't have it, but it didn't affect the result, so I'd call it an avoidable annoyance

    An excellent review as always Luca! I have the 10-24 and have been considering the Tamron as I don’t find my Fuji lens sharp enough for architecture/interiors these days. You raise a really important point at the end. I love my Fuji cameras (I use the GFX system as well) but I’ve started to question their lens options too. I recently bought the Viltrox 75mm in preference to the new Fuji 56. I currently have the Sigma 23 1.4 on pre-order instead of the Fuji equivalent. These are used less for me than my core Fuji lenses like the 33mm and 50-140, but offer options Fuji does not at the price. I think Fuji are to be applauded for opening up the X mount, but it will hurt them if they can’t keep up with 3rd party options.

      @LucaPetraliaPhotography  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thanks! I don't think opening up the mount is hurting them... As a paradox is actually helping them keep the system more flexible. I would've had the same concerns even if the third party option was not available... And I would've probably felt more prone to switching somewhere else if it wasn't for these third party options.
      I hope they're taking notes on what buyers want to expand their lens selection in the future

    Arter being a die hard prime user I bought this little gem, the Tamron 11-20, and it’s almost glued to my recently bought Fujifilm X-T5. I complemented with the older but still wonderful Fujinon 35 mm f1.4 and could not be happier. It’s a very light travel and everyday set.

    Great video Luca! By the way, the Fuji is not Internal zoom. It just doesn't have much that moves. It is still definitely a pumper though. The nice part about the design is that with a UV filter, you are still sealing it all up pretty well. If it was internal, the elements that move would be literally inside the lens. Just thought I'd mention that. As for the character of the lenses though, the color and contrast just look nicer and more accurate on the Fuji not to mention I believe the micro contrast is far better on the fuji. I've never been a fan of the Tampon "look" which seems to be consistent across their line of lenses. There is also something to be said for the extra millimeter of the Fuji. Its a lot wider.

    Ive the 10-24 on a X-H2 and a X-T3 and i like it very much. I think the better sharpness with the Tamron on the 40mp sensor comes because the Fujifilm lenscontruction is very old. But for that what i use this lens its mostly stopped down to 5.6 to 8 so i dont need the 2.8 on this lens. The aperturering and the Ois on the newer wr version are very important for me too. So i think i stay with the fuji, thank you for the comparison ! Like your Videos keep up the good work =)

    The Tamron is sharper, but it shows relatively strong chromatic aberrations (to my taste) while the Fuji doesn`t.
    Anyway, my future wide angle combo will be XF 8mm 3,5 + Viltrox 13mm 1,4 + XF 16-55mm 2,8 (best range, IQ, aperture). But i accept, that a zoom lens will be more flexible for most guys.

    Nice Review. Thank you. So you are thinking of selling the viltrox&fuji and keeping the tamron? The stabilization of the fuji 10-24 seems very good. When you are filming outside or vlogging this could be useful.😊

    fuji definetly needs to put out 15-35 2.8 equivalent, also it blows my mind that they updated the 56mm, and kept the old focus motor, which is terrible for video. Also they should innovate with a 20-50 midrange zoom, just like MFT and Sony did (10-25 1.7 MFT, and 20-70 f4 Sony, we can also include the panasonic 20-60 FF lens as well). I am a new Fuji user (switched from Sony recently), and even tho I am happy with my current Fuji 23 1.4 WR, and Sigme 56 1.4 (with 13mm viltrox on the way), I would love to see fuji introduce an f2 general zoom in the 14-35mm range for example (about 20-50 FF equivalent), and considering tamron makes 20-40 2.8 FF COMPACT lens, and panasonic makes 10-25 1.7 MFT lens, not to mention the wildly popular 18-35 1.8 sigma for DSLR, I do think that this lens is absolutely possible for short flange mirrorless APS-C mount!

    after i bought tamron 11-20mm i was more inclined to sell 16-80 f4, the only reason i hold it up because wide end 16mm for indoor and tight space, and now i don't need to bring my flash everytime 😊

    • @LucaPetraliaPhotography
      @LucaPetraliaPhotography  Před 11 měsíci

      Is the intent to swap it with the 17-70? If so, that's what I did... I'm still in love with the 16-80, but for my current body of work the tamron combo makes more sense

    • @Ahmad7Zakki
      @Ahmad7Zakki Před 11 měsíci

      @@LucaPetraliaPhotography yeah Tamron 17-70, i think best light weight zoom combo lens right now on fuji is 11-20, 17-70, and 70-300. I really wanna buy sigma18-50, but on online market strore in my country i can't find magnetic step up ring 55-77 and if bought new filters it's cost more than 17-70 and more space in bag

    • @LucaPetraliaPhotography
      @LucaPetraliaPhotography  Před 11 měsíci

      With the 11-20, 17-70 and 70-300 you only have one filter size (67mm). So you can, in theory, go super easy with one 67mm polarizer for example, without step up rings

    There is the other side of the cost difference. How much are you going to get if you sell or trade each lens? My impression is that used third party lenses are almost worthless compared to the lenses by the camera maker. I always enjoy your interesting presentations.
