My girl completed CHOP treatment for high grade GI lypmhoma in March. She was diagnosed in Sept last year. She didn't go into complete remission but she is still with us and happy. Stats are just that....she has had an extra 14 months! Cats can still live a great life without being in complete remission. Btw, she is 18!

I dont think my 14 year old cat would tolerate chemo at all. He is too frail. And frankly, I refused chemo for myself so i cannot imagine allowing my cat to suffer with that.

Hi Dr. Sue. My Chi (Baby) has recently been diagnosed with Lymphoma but my vet hasnt mention which type or stage shes in yet. We do have an oncology appt. On Monday. So far what I know is that she has small rubbery balls/lumps under each lymph node under her jaw and one behind the knee and her stomach, groin, and spleen are swollen. The ultrasound tech mentioned something about B cells. Baby isnt showing any symptoms except. Shes shedding lots of hair. Which treatment should I shoot for?! Please help me decide. I have no idea and I dont want her to die sooner then her time!

I am hoping Dr gives us idea what is sign to put a cat down. I realized that mirtzapine does not work when cat is very sick.
But when cat is being better, mirtzapine works wonderful.
    Is it true ??

Our kitty went thru Chop therapy and the first 6 weeks ultrasound showed the mass in her tummy was almost gone.
    It was just a thickening.
Then, after the 2nd 6 weeks, the tumor was back. The vet gave her an oral chemo, and she had not been well since.
Is there any other treatment after Chop therapy. She's still on steroids but had some blood in her stool, so we brought her to ER. ER doc just told us she should be in hospice and wanted to put her down. She was not an Oncologist.
We can't reach our oncologist until Monday. Is there any other meds we can try?? She was in remission for 7 mos. She was doing so good. She isn't eating.
    We are very sad.

My cat is 14. He lost half his body weight in 6 months. He was diagnosed with stomatitis and periodontal disease. It was severe. We had part 1 of 2 surgeries. He healed, got better and started to relapse. We were told at that time he needed to go ahead and have the remaining teeth removed. He went in for surgery and platelets were to low to have surgery, also a questionable mass in abdomen. The week before the attempt at surgery he started vomiting. It was written off due to his suppressed ability to eat. Follow up with ultrasound were enlarged lymph nodes, no mass. Labs all normal minus. Platelets. Platelets have normalized but my vet seems to think it's underlying lymphoma. I wanted to move forward with remaining teeth extraction but we also want the least stress one the cat at this point. He is miserable. Steroids for me personally have not seemed to help anything. He was removed from them at my request and there was no change better or worse. Should I do the biopsy??? Or just proceed with the extraction ? I don't want to put him through unecessary torture. He has been healthy his entire life, no other problems. What should no do??? Biopsy to confirm or just the surgery and see it resolves ? No further vomiting episodes. I syringe feed him if he does not eat on his own. He is very picky regardless. No stool changes either. He still has the will to eat unless he is hurting.

Hi, my 11 year old had been prescribed CD wet food for struvite crystals she had once when she was 6-7, kept her on the food til she was diagnosed with cancer and put to sleep. It’s rare, especially in female cats, and i came so close to quitting cd and switching to raw food because i didn’t think she would get the crystals again and if she did, raw food must be safer cancer wise. And she got a rare cancer. Is the cd the culprit? I know you don’t know and no one does, but i can’t help but feel certain if i was advised to do a raw food diet this never would have happened. She was so playful and energetic and happy, and suddenly her life was taken from her. It feels like my fault, like the vets fault. Why is anyone recommending anything other than raw food. Those crystals aren’t a big deal, if she got them again i could give her CD til they were gone. Why were they so insistent on forever? This is haunting me. Any response would
    be greatly appreciated, thank you

I am soverysorry to hear,Ivan. Many vets, my own as well always prescribe the Hills diet. I returned this food bc I didnt want my cat to eat it. The ingredients are very bad. Unfortunately, my vet did NOTHING to help solve my kitty's severe IVD and she unfortunately just passed away suddenly on Monday 11/29/21. I was looking into getting CBD oil, vut not sure which one to buy? Steroids being the last resort. I am in disbelief and sadness abdfeel that my vet should of prevented this from happening.
Always trust your gut! These vets dont care for our pets. Irs NOT your fault! U love your kitty, just like I love mine. I hacent gone the raw food diet yet, nkt so crazy abt raw. My cats like cooked food like chicken & turkey. Raw food has to be introduced SLOWLY too. Freezedried raw seems to be good with my cats, but not entirely with my cat Miracle who just passed now. Though she liked Stella & Chewy Duck, Duck, Goose.
((Hugs)) to you. God Bless 💜💜

My cat has a tumour on her stomach and Vet confirmed after scan it was lymphoma. He gave her a steroid 5 days ago but still she is getting sick after every meal and is getting so skinny. Do you know if there is anything we should be trying to feed her that would be kind to her stomach? We’re back in the vet on Friday to see if steroid has worked. Just afraid she’s suffering right now and wondering if I should bring her back sooner 😣 she’s 16 year old and so loving. Pains me to see her so not well

Noticed huge lumps on my 9 yr old cats neck, took her to the vet and they said they felt them everywhere, under armpits, behind legs. I wasnt expecting this bc she has had no symptoms besides the lumps. They put her on steroids twice a day.. we cannot afford chemo with everything going on right now. What do you think? Also, I guess I want to know what life expectancy is. Waiting for blood tests to come back. Thanks.

so my 13 year old male cat; Tommy; I had brough him to my vet about 5-6 weeks ago bc he watery eyes; sneezing - he did a full lab work up; bc last time he was at vet was about 2 years before that - mind you same weight 9.2 pounds - anyway all labs normal; and they did nasal swabs; he had a URI treated with antibiotics and was fine; i noted two weeks ago he had a lymph node enlarged under ear; like a person; and brought him in - he had NO diarrhea; no loss of appetite; no personality changes - no weight loss; no vomiting - NO OTHER SYMPTOMS - he did biopsy and gave him a shot of steroid; the nodule disappeared and I got results two days later of large cell lymphoma. I brought him in this past Thursday to start CHOP ; his cbc was normal again - his weight was the same - no changes except the lymph node was gone; I understand bc of steroid - but my vet said we will see if he improves - but how will I know - he had NO physical symptoms or changes in him; and his weight the same - so how do I know he will respond ???? he did not do a xray bc he said if the lymph node in neck disappeared; if he had any internally would also be gone; he said if we did not start CHOP give him 2 or 3 weeks and his nodule would return - the biopsy report does mention clinical presentation and can it be ; though unlikely... periodontal disease - so my long winded message; my question is how can I be sure - I will not be able to say; he ate more; or he did not vomit or he gained weight etc - he had no changes before - his CBC and weight was the same - no changes - 6 weeks ago when had URI; and last Thursday when he was given CHOP -
