  • Being a Voladore in Cuetzalan: In Cuetzalan, in the heart of Indian Mexico, a custom has been perpetuated for more than 1,500 years: the Dance of the Voladores, which was performed to establish a link between the Sun and Men. Four men launch themselves, hanging from ropes and head down, from the top of a 30-meter mast, to complete 13 rotations before hitting the ground. All pre-Hispanic beliefs are grouped together in this "Danza": the natural deities of the four cardinal points, the Sun, the four colors, the 52 years of the Aztec calendar, the sacrifice of some to save others. "Being Volador a Cuetzalan" tells the story of a son who dreams of "flying" and that of his father who wonders if he should stop stealing... Because each time he risks his life to perpetuate the rite and help his people…
