I have have syrup rupture in my pack one time before. Since then, I have taken the lid off my syrup and cut a square of plastic bag and laid it on top of the syrup and screwed the lid over that plastic. Then I put it in a ziplock. Where is your fifty foot rope to hang your food bag? It may be heavy enough to make it uncomfortable to pull up with just parachute cord. Good luck on your trip! I am looking forward to the next one.
