Prodigies be like: 😏 I learned that in one year.
I was surprised about the 2 months thing
In 3 days I already got some good melodies, hoping that in a month I can play winter by Antonio Vivaldi, currently I can only play the basic theme slowly
FUCK DAMMITMFUKC I WANT TO LEANR NOW DAMMIT LIKE A PRODIGY OTHERWISE IM GOING TO JUST FUCKING DIE..I CANT TAKE THIS LIFE ANYMOORE I WANT TO LAY GAYSYER AND EASIER DAMMIT NOW PLEASE HELP!!
I've been playing for 5 months and I just discovered vibrato by myself because my hand was very relaxed. Still in progress.
For i been playing for four months and i find for vibrato my hand is a little to tense. How do u get your hand to be relaxed?
@@stefan.l3741Hi. Been one for 7 years. The thing I've learned is to hold the violin with your chin and test it by removing your hands from the violin and only hold it by the chin. In that way you can see if you are putting enough pressure on the chin. If you can hold the violin only by your chin, then your hands don't hold the violin. Therefore, your hands will be more relaxed. In that way, your fingers will only do the work of changing the tunes only and not holding the violin too. Hope this helps.
5 years of lessons and I have had to stop for a time because I cannot Play that Minuet that you make sound so light and lovely. I have worked hard but at 66, I've still got a lot to learn.
Don't worry... I've been playing nearly 30 years and also have a lot to learn :).
I have only 6 months of violin, in the first one I’ve played Minuet 3 by Bach, and now, I play Concerto no 3 part 4 by Seitz. So…I don’t think we speak here about years or months
It honestly depends on each person individually. I had mastered vibrato and basic shifting (1st and 3rd position) after 1.5 years. I'm left handed, so the learning curve was easier for my vibrato, and it also depends on your dedication and practice time, along with teachers and such. I had a school teacher who greatly helped me with auditions for conservatories and such, and I have always been dedicated. Don't look down on your progress, as everyone is different. Great video!
I agree that it takes different amounts of time for different people but there is absolutely no reality in which someone can master vibrato in 1.5 years, there is so much behind an artistic vibrato that that is just not possible
@@simonhill5650 I agree! My definition of mastered was to be able to consistently provide good sound with all four fingers in first and third position. Of course an artistic vibrato is something slowly learned, but I would say I "mastered" the fundamentals!
@@simonhill5650 i agree, it took me 3 years to get a good hold on vibrato and it was still no where near perfect
True
My classmate brought a violin months ago, and it was my first time trying it. After minutes, I was able to play Twinkle Twinkle.
I was really eager at that time to learn so it probably accelerated more than a regular session should go.
I'm considering buying a violin, it has many great advantages that could help me personally.
I am still suffering from learning the right position of bowing even though learning for 3 weeks hahahaha😂
By next October it will be my 3rd year of learning violin and I love your statements because they are very true. Now I'm starting to play simple bach and vivaldi concertos. At first i used to feel nervous because of getting influenced of some youtube videos that some people show they have progressed all of this witin a year. But the fact that violin is not how fast you learn but it's how persistent you are on practicing, how in tune you play and how much technique you learn and apply.
@mousabh1 because I'm busy all week with work and house chores i practice 3 hours a week which means almost 13 hours a month means almost 150 hours a year now its been 3 and a half years in total almost 400 hours. It's not a lot if i was still a student i would have practiced more but even if you practice 40 hours a week 1 year is not enough to play intermediate pieces with different techniques. So her statement is quite reasonable.
Also keep in mind what helps me alot that I have a good knowledge in music theory and intonation so this helps me alot maintain some musical level. But a person who has just started learning music theory needs to practice more and more to be able to imprint both his violin techniques, his intonation and musical sense
Today I had my first violin lesson of 40 mins.... I can play happy birthday melody....cant wait to learn more❤
Played twinkle twinkle little star after one lesson but I’m a guitar and ukulele player so left hand technique is similar. The bow is a whole new thing 😂
This was well said , my first song to learn was exactly that , twinkle twinkle little star, learning from you tube about 3 months playing … Some where over a rainbow , country road , still learning Dance monkey , despacito , some Christmas songs and other covers, I don’t know why but I can’t help wanting to learn new songs , love the violin , still got a long way to go but I am really enjoying this journey with the violin , and thanks to you I am learning a lot as well. 👍
Gracias maestra 😊
I started playing the violin over two years ago and now i'm learning Fiocco Allegro and Vivaldi concerto in G minor, It is very fun and relaxing to play violin
Thank you dear teacher!
Been playing for 3 years and I am currently learning the double concerto by Bach. I can play with decent vibrato. I don’t know she was so accurate.
I’ve been playing violin in school since I was in 4th grade, but I started getting lessons only 3 years ago in 8th grade,,
I’ve been playing for a year (I was self teaching for a while) and taking lessons since June 2022. I have made it up to Etude in Suzuki book 1. I can definitely see progress since when I first started!
She didn't exactly say how much one needs to practice daily in order to align with this progression. Also I think that advancing in practice is linked directly to how easily you can find what you're doing wrong.
I didn't even start 😂 but i love the violin 🎻❤
My dream piece is zigeunweisn and erklöng 😅😅😅
Me on my third year and did play twinkle twinkle little star in my second year and now can maybe play like you could play in your second year if I was that good❤😢😮
In this video don't mind the sound quality as I'm playing nearly thirty years. Don't worry about WHAT you play as it doesn't say much about the quality and also you don't know how you'll progress in the coming years. Just keep going and run your own race :).
I only have 7 days to master this craft. Give me the crash course.
For the people here saying they learnt to play xyz with only this months of Playing, well it's because it depends on how much time you invest amd how well is your double hand coordination. It can also be faster for you if you already have experience with string instruments like sitar or guitar. What she's showing here is the time it would take a total music beginner.
Exactly plus the piece someone plays doesn’t say that much as it all depends on the quality of playing.
I had a violin for 5 years now but I stopped so I have no progress and tbh I regret it that I didn’t practice 😢I’m starting again this year wish me luck hope I remember
I was playing simple songs on day 3. I've played guitar and mandolin a few years, and studied music theory the same, but around 5 hours a day of practice and study. The mandolin and violin are tuned the same, so my biggest hurdle is bowing, and the G string 🤗😅😅😅
I 27, have been learning for 2 month and I am practicing to play the twinkle twinkle little star now 😂 hope I can play the minuet after 1 year 🥹
amazing share
I have played violin five months, but I play as good as you showed how people play violin when they have played one year.😊My Dreams song with violin is Rivers Flows In You.
Well done! Check out my tutorial on River flows in you: violinlounge.com/river-flows-in-you-by-yiruma-violin-tutorial-violin-lounge-tv-499/
day 3 of violin was my playing of twinkle twinkle 🤩 little star ✨
I am midway through accolay and im on my first year of violin
I played bach a minor concerto after 10 months and bach sarabande from partita 2 after 1 year.
I've been playing the violin for 8 years, and I'm barely in Suzuki book 2 and I can't do vibrato! I can do some vivaldi though, like concerto in a minor, summer. I'm 12 going on 13, I stopped learning for about 4-5 years.. and my violin teacher didn't really pay attention to teaching which caused me lack of practice and knowledge. any tips? 🥹
Sure, check out the vibrato videos on my channel and this masterclass academy.violinlounge.com/invite-learn-a-beautiful-vibrato-on-the-violin/
Well maybe you can fit in this time element. After ten years I still can't do vibrato. My tone definitely doesn't sound like you 😜
Try another ten years 🤣😉, but seriously: usually if students come in and their vibrato doesn’t work, they’ve never done a specific set of exercises consistently every day for a few months. Vibrato is really a matter of consistency and not ‘trying a wobble’ once in a while. But it’s hard work and it differs a lot how fast we all learn.
Wait actually?
I’ve watched several videos and personally the best one is Ray Chens Masterclass on CZcams.
I started learning vibrato in the beginning of my second year. (Currently at the end of my second year.
I took about a week to get the motion, a month to incorporate if, and two months to really get that full resonance.
It also helps to just watch different violinists and mimic what you see.
Just practice it, you’ll get it.
I feel like a prodigy only 5 months of lessons and half way through book 3 and also twinkle little starts on my 2-3 week
To the people in the comments, thats cool that you learned a seitz concerto in X months, but where are you now? Are you still playing seitz concertos or are you playing Tambourin Chinois?
This video was just to give a general idea of how long it takes to learn violin not to impress. 😉 I didn’t learn this in months. I play for nearly thirty years, am graduated as a violinist and have played Wieniawski, Bruch and Mendelssohn concertos and Paganini caprices.
@@violinlounge Im referring to the comments that seem to try to one up everyone by saying that they’ve played for 3 months and are learning seitz concertos or have played for 2 years and are learning Bach Partitas. Im trying to make they point that it doesn’t matter how long it took anyone to reach a certain milestone, but instead where you are now and where you are going.
@@IsaacHoweiner very true and what someone plays doesn’t say anything about how.
There is not time periods for anything! You could learn anything anytime if you practice enough
.....but i learnt to play twinkle twinkle the day i got my violin which was yesterday. Well its understandable because I know a good amount of theory
It's quite simple without any theory knowledge at all i learned it in a day.
But later i just lazed the process off.
It's all in the hands of player...the dedication and patience.
Also how is your progress???
It also depends on what you seek. I learnt to play fairy tale in about 2 months, but I can't play any other songs, nor have I really even tried to, because I bought the violin just to learn to play that one song from my childhood.
I guess it's different for each person then-
- 1 year I barley played in tune with the basics
- 2 years was the same thing
- 4 years I masters 3rd position and is able to sound decently without sounding like a cat scratching on chalkboard
- 5 years I masterd vibrato
And almost moving into 6 years and there's still things I have to know about 5th and 6th position 🙃
I feel like speaking in general this is the normal time it would take to learn an instrument like violin but there are some people THT are just fast learners like for example I just started clarinet in 2022 in like august and I’m now playing things like pirates of the Caribbean and stuff but that’s just clarinet and violin is different 😅 bottom line is some people just learn faster than others❤
Interesting. I always thought I was way behind when I started vibrato at around year 3. Not that it was in any way stable or refined. I heard that students start Wohlfart etudes after 8 months. That was when I was still fighting with getting the rhythm of simple folk songs right.
We all have a different journey and learn different things at different times. Some go fast in the beginning, some later on. Some go for quality and keep repeating easier repertoire, others move to more difficult pieces earlier on.
After 2months i've played here is a pirate, 4m i've played canon in d with vibrato
I started 6 mouths ago and I'm able to play the god father and harry potter, I'm 20 btw and i always feel late
Not me actually learned vivaldi winter on 2 month i got the violin tuned it then immediately went to learn vivaldi winter
after 9 months of playing i can proudly say that i can play bwv 1043 🙏🙏
Man i can play twinkle twinkle little star after 1 day i'm buying it
Why are some violinists so discouraging - almost like making music a very exclusive thing? 2 months and just twinkle twinkle? Good thing I'm reading the comments section. Some people got to play something in 2 weeks - now that's encouraging. ❤
I played twinkle twinkle little star in 2 weeks without any prior instrumental knowledge 💀
❤️💙
Im 1 year and 8 months , ican play pop covers like my immoratl, treat y better ..
:D
After 5 years of learning the violin i completed the concerto in d minor by Bach, now i feel like i am bad
How long: the REST OF YOUR LIFE! Because all violinists usually play the rest of their lives.
I’ve been playing for 7 years and I mean I’m basically playing ATCL-AMusTCL so I’m not quite sure is that’s slow on track or above average could someone tell me? 😅
I had a bit of vibrato in one day because im left handed
My goal is to be 1 year worth of good. Just to show off and add it to my belt of skills
what is the name of the second song, the one she said you'll learn in a year?
This is an amazing dutch accent
Either I'm a fast learner or this videos are not so accurate about the times because I touched the violin for the first time two months ago but I can play the etude (it is the 12th piece) from Suzuki violin book 1
Progress varies greatly per person and the pieces you play sometimes don't say much about intonation, tone tone quality etc.
I want to learn how to play the violin but i don't how and what to start
And i don't know how to read musical notes
Any recommendations for a beginner violin? I have a cheap one off Amazon but it will not hold tune. The tuning pegs spin and I have rewound the strings too.
A violin should be made ready to play and most on Amazon aren't. Check out this one: violinlounge.com/product-review/fiddlerman-concert-violin-review-funny/
what is the first year song name please
People say that "that 6 months is my 3 years" or something but maybe JUST maybe its because you dont practice 40 hours a day
when will i be able to play paganini caprice no 24, ma'am?
That all depends on the quality of your practice, your teacher, how much you practice and if course a little talent. Generally this will take you at least 10 years.
3 and a half years, and i still can't do vibrato 😭
What about pagnini
I can play vibrato for only 6 months of learning violin
watching this after it took me 8 years to learn vibrato ☠️☠️☠️
seriously 2 months for twinkle star? I don't know if im cheating but i did it in 2 hours, genuinely not sure if the 2 months take in account of good bow control, and decent basic foundations and twinkle star is the first piece after learning all the stuff, but i for sure jumped straight in the moment i could make a sustained sound with my bow...
It's indeed taken into account decent basic technique, good bowing, sound and good intonation. Usually people don't have all that in two hours ;).
5 years
What where the names of the songs you played in the video?
Twinkle twinkle
Bach minuet from suzuki book 1
Bach double concerto
Accolay concerto
Can you learn violin on you're own? Or is it something you need to take lessons in?
Yes, you can learn on your own, however with a teacher it usually goes faster and up to a higher level. Check out my free beginner course at www.violinlessonsforfree.com
I learned vibrato for only 2 months.
I have learned vibrato in less than a year.
Me:I would love to play the violin it’s so beautiful!
Also me: heck nah I ain’t practicing for 3+ years
I could play twinkle twinkle in 7 hours
How about start learning at 20?what do you think about?(please the truth)😁
I've taught much older beginners and it's definitely possible if you put in the work and have your expectations realistic.
ah fk, I don't have that much time in me unfortunately.
Wait I’ve only been learning for a month and I’ve finished Sibelius concerto and the Bach chaconne. But I did already have a head start from cello. But you sound so good 😊
Dit lijkt op nederlande mensen die engels praten?
I've been playing for 4 years and still haven't learned to shift and vibrato
Some teachers choose to teach that later on and there's definitely an advantage to it.
I feel like i can reach year 5 in one year. Ive been playint guitar since 2005. Lol does that count?
Playing guitar is a big advantage when starting the violin. Paganini was also a guitar player.
You play vibrato in first year 😂 then you mentioned you can play vibrato in third year.... I'm just teasing for fun I'm a beginner just reach first year ....love your channel keep up the good work 😊
Haha, thanks, I choose to not play the beginner repertoire as a beginner, because that would also mean off intonation and some scratches.
2 hours you mean?
Yeah for a talented if not it will take maybe 20 years
Well, Teacher, I want to self teach myself, I've just got a violin on my birthday, Is that possible?
Progress will be faster with a teacher, but if you keep your expectations realistic, you can. Have you checked out my free beginner course? www.violinlessonsforfree.com
@@violinlounge Haha yes, I applied and took the course, That was epic! I will start learning the violin as soon as I finish my exams!! :)
Within less then one week I can do twinkle. That's because I played piano. If you have learn other instrument (have musical background), and have decent picth, things will get much easier n quicker.
How long for sherlock holmes theme
All depends on the quality of playing you're looking for, but it's not very complicated, so I'd say a few years.
i am learning vibrato after 1 year of playing
I learned twinkle twinkle my first day ☠️☠️
I absolutely hate it when people try to make timelines like this. They're complete and utter bullshit. Yeah, you're trying to make interesting content and help people manage their expectations and all that, good for you. But even trying to make a rough estimate like this is just absolutely ridiculous, bordering on insane. Even when you're talking about a young child this is stupid af but for an adult? Someone actually old enough to watch this video and understand what it says? That just shows you put zero thought into it.
How much practice time does the person have? How much motivation? What is their learning mentality? Do they move on too quick? Stay on the same "safe" piece for too long? Do they get lessons or not? How good is their teacher? How often do they get lessons? How much musical experience do they have before this? Did they ever play a string instrument before? What are they trying to achieve at all? Hell, did they do fucking clapping games in primary school??
The idea that you can say anything at all of value on the topic of a timescale for learning an instrument that is valid for even just 10% of learners out there is insane and quite arrogant.
What's your dream piece on the violin?
introducción y rondo caprichoso Camile SS.

My dream price is Song From A Secret Garden by Alexander Rybak
I would like to be able to play Erlkönig but my favorite is sibelius violin concerto.
