I did this one today and I literally thought it was Ava because we didn't know the exact times of the volleyball tournament and the keycard ending in 7221 which looked like it could've been hers went to 104 (her room) and 106 where Julian was murdered. The motive would be that she was upset that he thought she was a stalker or that he was getting close to Veronica and it would make sense for her to go crazy and kill him if she was already crazy. I feel like there was just such poor evidence for it being Buck.
Just bought this today and failed solving it after 2 hours. My family and I also failed to notice that ava and julian had a previous relationship. The motive for the killing though was also weak as you’re just supposed to assume buck was jealous enough to kill julian despite him not wanting to continue the relationship with ava. Honestly just poor writing. Sorry for the rant but I’m just glad you guys were just about confused as we were with the reveal.
Hi @usingmac, yeah even though there were some details I think we could have caught we were so confused on the motive and even more on alibis/clearing other people
Yea 100%. They cant expect people to actually solve this with the given "evidence"
We just finished this as well…. Way too much speculation was needed! This game was poorly done and we are big fans of HAK. The key cards only showed entry, Candace was there all day and the street where her work address was, is the same as Julian’s. Not happy with this one😠
@@stephaniemocabee1899 which HAK do you recommend? this was my first one from hak and I also thought it was pretty poor.
@@jake12.48 Dead below Deck was a good one!
Was going to say Spoiler Alert but the video is literally a reveal! I just played the game and heres how it leads to Buck. Ava and Julian had an affair and can be backed by “a one time mistake” in the business card. We knew it was Ava bc the card mentions “go back to California”, and in Veronicas notes it mentions the daughter saying she wanted to go back home “(San Diego)”. San Diego, CA. Plus the Key that belongs to Buck as he won it in the Casino. Tbh however I didnt think there was enough pointing towards Buck. Like it makes sense going by the times and evidence, but tbh they made it seem like Buck really didnt care about anything. Which at the same time it kinda makes sense: they saw him as a dead beat dad that didnt care about his family or anything, and that made him think he had nothing to lose.
Correction “Santa Cruz, CA”
This one was one of the worst ones I’ve done
So you guys never got the epilogue either?
Please also play other hunt a killer games. It was fun to watch.
Hi beyza, we’ll see if we do another one! We recently tried a similar brand: “Hidden Games” so that video is coming out soon
I really like these that don't require the internet to solve, but I don't know anyone who's finished this one without some sort of spreadsheet program, which is kind of a shame when you're trying to do something that's not dependent on a computer.
Hi Jack, thanks for the comment. If we could do it again we'd probably do without the spreadsheet as it just made things more complicated and we still missed a key detail.
We actually like games that incorporate online components but only when it's intentional and done well (like Hidden Games Crime Scene)
My boyfriend and I just solved this last night in 45 minutes, with no notes. It is definitely possible.
@@thegmry I think the problem is you don't know ahead of time that the spreadsheet isn't going to be needed. They throw so much information at you that's not easily sorted in your head, but doesn't ultimately matter.
Cogswell lost his key in the laundry, Crabtree picked it up and went in 105(cogswell’s room) and went through the wall into 106 and killed Julian
But there is no record of a key card entry into 105 Other than Veronica first thing in the morning to clean it, your theory does not make sense
Absolutely zero belief y'all actually figured out the padlock code on your own. I've literally went over how were supposed to get the code and even still it doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
So if you can’t figure it out, that means nobody can? I watched my 14 y/o daughter figure that lock out when we were playing it.
I figured out the padlock numbers with my fam. The hint was a note said her name (Veronica) was the “key” and paired that with Eugenes show poster note that said Julian focused too much on the number of words. If you look at Julian’s record book he calls Veronica “RONI” (4 digits). We first went through a bunch of possibilities of digits corresponding to alphabet with no luck, I then I went back and realized one of his lyrics spelled out RONI with the first letters and we counted the number of words in each line. I will say, however, I’m pretty adept at these types of puzzles. The trick is to start at the finish (knowing you need a 4 digit combo) and look for any possibilities or clues to 4 digit combos.
This game was fun! Some things are super unclear, but we def knew it was the dad!!!!
Hi Jessica, we totally agree. We were never 100% confident although we did miss some things
Oh it’s the dad
You ready for what my theory was when I first opened the keepsake memory box????? Here we go! SPOILER ALERT!!
SPOILERS BELOW!!!
So I thought the bottle opener was actually a key!
Like to a room at the Casino!
And I was confused that Julians key was 7221 while the Crabtrees were 7220 and.....4139??? wtf??
Like if the Crabtrees were given two Keycards, wouldn't they be neighboring cards?
Soooooooooooo......I thought that the mystery stalker/lover was Buck!
Which meant that Buck and Julian were (at minimum) Bisexual
So I thought that Buck lied about a poker tournament on Saturday and actually met up with Julian at a private room at the Card Casino
Julian brought his 4139 key
And Buck brought the 7221 key (and left the 7220 card with his wife back at the motel)
They get busy or whatever then when they leave they accidently take the wrong card
At this point though I thought "Well how would Julian get back into his own room if he had the card key for 104?"
My answer to that was "Well maybe every card card can open any door? Since Stu is such a cheapskate maybe he didn't invest in a secure card system?"
So the next day when Buck goes back to the Card Casino, he's meeting up with Julian again
But this time he has the 7220 card with him
Julian still has the 7221 card
They're suppose to meetup again but maybe Julian just leaves the "I found someone else" message on his business card behind and leaves before Buck shows up?
This would explain why Buck would put in a request for the AC to be fixed then leave first thing in the morning if he wants to see Julian.
Wouldn't there be a possibility that Julian would come in the morning time while Buck is at the Casino and Buck wouldn't see him?
My guess was it's because Buck knew Julian wouldn't be at the Motel during the morning because they were "meeting up" at the Casino
You can see Julian was leaving his room at 8:30 am according to Veronica
It's possible he was heading out to the Casino to give Buck that message
We see no activity from Julian the whole day
Anywho Buck just decides to gamble at which point Ava calls him and tells him to come back
He comes back with the 7220 card that he took with him.
He goes back but after finding the lost good luck charm he decides to stay to confront Julian about his note
Somehow he learns that Julian hadn't been there yet
Maybe he asked Ava if the maintenance guy came yet to fix the AC and she said no?
So he goes to the workout room with the 7220 card and waits for his wife and daughter to leave
Then he goes back into his room, orders a movie and waits for Julian to show up
The rest is history
When the Wife comes back with her daughter, she has the 4139 card which was originally Julians card
Once I found out it was a bottle opener and NOT a room key, that changed everything lol
Even after I solved the case, the ONE thing I can't seem to figure out is how the hell did Buck put the business card and bottle opener (murder weapon) into Julians keepsake box?
Was it already opened?
Was Julian looking through it in room 106 then got murdered by Buck
But that wouldn't be enough time for Julian to open it because Buck followed him right into the room
So how the hell did Buck get the card and bottle opener into the keepsake memory box???
I still can't figure that part out
I have the game
can you send me the scan of all the documents?
