lived at the time in a 1 br apartment in Belhaven, several blocks from Memorial Stadium. My Dad and I went to the game, and got properly soaked in the 1st half. I looked at him and said it would be a lot drier at my apt. We ordered a pizza, and I cranked out the Busch beer(Hell, I was a poor state employee at the time). We watched the 2nd half from my warm apt. Great memory. I miss my Dad a helluva lot.
I didn't know it was legal in the 80's for a team to switch uniforms at halftime. Good thing Ole Miss had both their traditional Red home jerseys and their alternate Blue jerseys
@@rebelmetal4233 I think he did the same thing 1 year prior in 1985 against LSU when the Rebels played in Jackson which was a virtual mudhole cause not only Ole Miss played some of their home games which were not played in Oxford as well as some Mississippi State home games when the crowds were too big for Starkville, Jackson State along with several high school games played on that field.
This was the strangest season for Mississippi State. New coach, redesigned uniforms, strong roster, and open 5-0. Then, the wheels came off and they went 5-6. Man, I never understood this team.
Never could understand why either team played games in Jackson. Terrible stadium. Thank goodness they finally came to their senses and moved their games to campus.
Jackson, at the time was the state’s largest venue. In fact, Johnny Vaught Stadium in Oxford, DID NOT Get lights until 1990. (A fair majority of, but not all of, the first game played in Oxford with Lights vs Memphis State does exist on CZcams)
Thanks for posting this Jeff. I watched this game with a gf in person in the down pour. Great memories.

The 1986 Ole Miss team was loaded with talent.
I had some old game tapes converted to dvd.

I remember Brewer doing this a couple different times...

@@cfoster81 You are correct...I remember watching the game...LSU won 14-0...
Where did you dig this up? Nice video.

Crappy Athletic Directors with no vision.
Bigger stadium in Jackson at the time.
@@Photograph1974 was the biggest facility in the STATE OF MISSISSIPPI....why not use it....
Yes, it was a bigger stadium, but why not develop your on-campus facilities instead of playing in that junk pile.

would be nice to see the Egg Bowl return to Jackson one year..
