I think I figured out why Samsung has cooler tones and why iPhones has warmer tones. As a professional film photographer , I can tell you that Kodak and Fujifilm are doing the same. Kodak film rolls has warmer tones BECAUSE they are made by Europeans for European skin tones (Caucasian). Fuji is in Japan and Asians prefer to have white skin, so they tested and made specifically for Asian skin, colder white balance. Asians would hate to have yellow skin tones. Samsung is South Korea, Apple is America . That’s why. It’s simple : Caucasian prefer have warmer skin tones , and Asians prefer white skin , this is also why Asians makeup is so different from ours , they are whitening their faces
Samsung allows you to use differents warmer filters in back and front cameras if you wish and you can save then as the default settings. Many more possibilities!

Someone who actually touched on the whole "more zoom" thing. Having such a large difference between lenses results in less than ideal results in the in-between areas.
There needs to be another camera in between the 1x and 5x on the 20 Ultra I think. Ideally with large (as far as phones go) sensor like the one for the main camera. Pictures of people are one of the main things smartphone cameras will be used for - hence the introduction of the fake bokeh portrait modes. Xiaomi and Huawei managed to put a dedicated portrait camera as well as a periscope zoom on their latest flagships so don't know why Samsung couldn't have managed that on their even more expensive device.
Luke Barker possibly going to do it next series but it is a shortcoming for people who don’t just click the zoom buttons - imagine zooming 4.5x and still using the main lens cropped down. They could have done a Nokia and kept the resolution but sacrifice light sensitivity it probably would work better for most situations
@@RennieAsh Bizzarely when I last tried a store demo 20 Ultra, the standard zoom buttons were 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 4x and 10x. No 5x, which could only be accessed by zooming in increments. Don't know if that was a hangover from the S20 Ultra that had a 4x pericope zoom whereas the Note 20 Ultra is 5x but still just seemed weird - why have a quick option for almost the heaviest possible crop of the main camera before the next native zoom level is reached, and no quick option for that native zoom level.
These reviews are dope but missing one key thing. Going live/ uploading video on social media on iPhone is so much clearer than any android. Why is that?
Apple only releases like 3-4 phones a year with the same os.So App developers can optimise them well.Meanwhile androids have tonnes of skins and well,you get it.

I like your videos however I believe you are a lit bit of an iPhone side when it comes to video stabilization, low light videos, color accuracy is a plus for the iPhone BUT stabilization is a Plus for Note 20 Ultra, its a hell of a difference when you were running how each device performed the video stabilization.... thats my opinion

Good review, very helpful. Anyone noticed that the background stabilisation in the first two sections of this review are completely different. With the Note although the person is moving the same amount, the background is very stable on the Note, but shaking around on the iPhone. Very surprised at so much difference. I currently use an iPhone X, so either of these would be a good improvement for me.
@@Byteable No its converted to an SDR image, but I think the HDR does tranlate into it, you can see at 3:21 that the footage is much more colorful, brighter - more true to life and it was originaly shot as an HDR video

In many photos, the grass on the ground in the Note 20 looks a lot less detailed and more blurry. I prefer iPhone's take on their cameras, especially the videos. Another great video as always.

Great comparison, just one really really important thing missing: Lag when taking pictures. Some reports claim there is a significant delay on the Note 20 Ultra between pressing the shutter and taking the picture. Can you compare that on the two cameras? I do a lot of people snapshots and instant response is essential for getting the right moment.
Samsung has ALWAYS had the lag when taking pictures. Thats one thing that really pisses me off about samsung. My Note 10+ and every other phone I've had has had that problem. Iphone never lags when taking photos. Samsung needs to push for that tho. Ur absolutely correct!
Jordan C Thanks for confirming that. It’s really a bummer because the sensor on the Note 20 Ultra is even bigger than on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. If you edit the files you can get much better detail, for example for landscapes. But there are so many other downsides, including no proper API for third party camera apps.
@@nosatori the API it's there, Google released it a while ago but developers just make the minimum to make the apps run and that's it, as for shutter lag Google introduced ZSL (zero shutter lag) so pixels don't have any delay like Samsung.

@@nosatori the API it's there, Google released it a while ago but developers just make the minimum to make the apps run and that's it, as for shutter lag Google introduced ZSL (zero shutter lag) so pixels don't have any delay like Samsung.

Yeah I’m an iPhone 12 pro user and I agree that even though I do like the portrait shots on the iPhone I do find the situation a little less common than a regular shot

@@MrCooper83 these 2 are so close in camera quality there really isn't a a clear winner so you can't go wrong with either. Apple fans will buy Apple and Samsung/Android fans will lean towards the Note just the way it is.
