Utility companies have too much power (Pun not intended)
So has our government! 😵💫
Of course the power people in Alberta are trying to delay any kind of grid dependance on their services. This should be obvious and there should have been legislation against this exact thing. Classic Alberta.
That the number of solar generation sites and the power they generate is increasing, is the problem. The problem for the oil industry and the problem for Danielle Smith. She has to protect the oil industry and will look for every opportunity to increase power generation from fossil fuels, while "decreasing emissions." That's what the renewable energy sector is up against in AB.
I’ve heard several other complaints about home solar grid tie delays from Alberta.
Why is that?
In our case, it was apparently staff turnover and. failure to keep in touch with clients. Drove us nuts. Took 6 months to get the thing active .
How long will it take to equalize the investment total versus recapture total.? Edmonton maximal daytime duration would be 4380 hours but you get 50% on average so when do you figure you’ll start saving money?
We just had ours hooked up with Fortis. It took 2 weeks.
Our PV solar array hasn't been installed yet (booked for July), and Fortis processed our application from a few weeks ago and installed our bi-directional meter TODAY. We were caught off-guard when they showed up without knowing they were coming so soon!
You'd think right wing libertarians would love the idea of separating the demand for electricity away from the government. Funny how that works.
Gate keepers on everything in this country
BC Hydro is worse. They make it impossible for anyone but them to bring electricity on the grid
But yet if you don't pay your hydro bill on time , they're pretty quick to shut you down...
Danielle Smith really doing a great job with her small government here, eh? Welcome to the reality of privatized utilities
Libertarian at its finest… not that kind of freedom it takes money away from my donors
Drill Baby, Drill!
Is he cosplaying as Tectone
Crazy how Ontario led to foreign companies into owning everything that has to do with oil and gas in Alberta.
That’s been happening since Mulroney and the conservatives sold off Petro Canada to private investors in early 90s. Conservatives have and always will let foreign investors buy our utility companies. So definitely not anything new
It's a made in Alberta problem which Ralph Klein orchestrated by opening the province up for competition in power and auto insurance. He apparently, is why Alberta's power costs are highest in the country.
@@ddhqj2023 The insurance rates/prices in Alberta is way reasonable then you think and also the only reason why Calgary has the highest costs of living in the country is because since more people are moving there's more demand and since Ontario is the capital they take can take as much oil and gas as they want and sell it for cheaper in Ontario and also any money that Alberta makes from selling oil and gas Ontario takes it.
why would they want to help competition? it's up to the the goverment
Go UCP 😂
hahahaha beta
Long waits are normal. They are busy
Blame JT of course.
Who's fault is it? The guy who rushed into the solar install without understanding his requirements, or evil Danielle Smith? I will say Fortis and most of the other distributors are just bureaucratic garbage comlanies with pathetic employees.
uhhh. Danielle. She (and her cronies) should have seen that coming and put legislation on the books to prevent that. Except why would she, she's in bed with them because they're all YEEEHAWWW oil and gas!
Yeah Marlaina (her real first name) is purposely slowing down all green energy projects on purpose since she’s been a shill for oil billionaires for decades. She does not want people to be self sufficient if it costs her donors money
Uh, I would say evil Danielle Smith. And this from the province that wants to develop more coal. Insane.
Danielle Smith doesn't help the situation here. Alberta is facing growing drought problems, reservoirs are at their lowest ever and Rocky Mountain glaciers are melting faster than ever and she wants to encourage more agriculture and more irrigation and more housing which fills in wetlands where groundwater is filtered and stored. I read one article and it foresaw a future 'dirty 30's' scenario because of the water demands that have been built into this province. And her only interest is in stealing Canadians CPP so she can prop up the oil and gas industries.
@@ddhqj2023 she will drive this entire province into a drought and deep depression, but her international business partners will come out with billions and leave this province to literally burn
CBC sure talks about Alberta a lot. Seems like more than other provinces. Almost as if instructed to do so. Seems fishy.
Your tinfoil hat is on too tight.
What is wrong with that. Everyone wants to move there.
@@rgen28 I'm much happier living in BC. To each their own.
@@briguy677 I loosened mine, but I'm still agreeing with the guy.
@@matthewbarry7026 Then tighten the loose screw.
