    Its crazy how surgeons don't spend much time talking about this. By the time people start wondering "hey the scar isn't going away" the window for their best shot at reducing the scar has long passed.
    btw, read the instructions. you are supposed to be diligently applying the product every single day for months during the healing process. I had to get a scar revision and used these products correctly the second time.

      Silicone scar sheets held in place with small strips of kinesio tape. Topical arnica. 9mo to a year every day.

    Use silicone scar sheets, that rub on gel with silicone is expensive crap. Custom cut scar sheet to fit your scar, wear ALL THE TIME for 9mo, can wash/reuse each piece for 4-8wks. For workouts/physical jobs, use small cut strips of kinesio tape to keep the silicone strips in place with NO stretch on the tape. (You don't need tape in addition to the silicone for adhesion but it helps to feel secure and not restrict motion in recovery: esp during postop Physical Therapy).

    Hi Doc! I have a surgery around my shoulder blade, went to a govt hospital but the first thing the doctor told me is, expect scars. You will get scar and your skin will not be the same anymore. Then I am left on my own after getting my stitches removed with the followup, 6wks down the road. So my wound split and then there is a big deep hole, and I have to look for nurses to help me with my wound cleaning.. so fast forward, the deeper layers are still healing, the surface skin is filled up but the skin is going to be dried up.
    The govt board I went to, nurses : do not anyhow apply things. only apply things your doc prescribed to u.
    So this is the part I do not understand. When should I use products liked Dermatis ultra? Or what product should I be using at this stage where there is no pus but the surface skin is healing and I am not supposed to keep it dry... i read that moist environment is best to reduce scar. What would you recommend me to use? Does those CICA-CARE gel sheet works for me at this moment? My skin is sensitive, doesnt have those thick healing scars but just dry skin and now waiting for this layer of skin to heal and ... dry off naturally? Thank you

    • @b.walker5955
      @b.walker5955 Před 4 měsíci

      Have been watching others content on proactive scar defense.
      Most I have watched say NOT to reintroduce more injury (micro needling causes injury to the skin, for the purpose to encourage collagen to flood the area). In this case, you have a wound/scar and you want to subdue the body from sending too much collagen which forms discolored or raised visible keloid scar tissue. As he explained the collagen production is what you are wanting to turn off and NOT encourage. So micro needling would be counter productive. ; ) you can actually end up with a scar enlarging when too much collagen is delivered.

    stupid question: I just had rhinoplasty, when i take a hot shower it feels amazing like as if the scar tissue under the skin shrinks or liquidates, then the scar tissue hardens & im in pain, could there be a benefit to the hot showers eventually minimizing or liquidating the scar tissues underneath or should i just take cooler showers & keep the swelling at a consistent reasonable level & let my skin & collagen heal over time

    • @alioxinfree

      silicone scar sheets can be worn while you sleep if not practical during the day, but you could wear a beanie for a while if it's ok to do so at work. The more hours a day worn better the healing. Also microneedling (stamp not wheel) does help with both scar reduction and some hair regrowth after scarring.

    • @alioxinfree
      @alioxinfree Před 3 dny +1

      Gel is total crap. Just use silicone scar sheets. For best results, wear EVERY DAY and even to sleep for 3-6mo minimum, 9mo-year realistically. Wash the sheets and reapply daily so have a few to swap back and forth for drying time. To secure the sheets for physicality, use little cut strips of kinesio tape.

    Hello Doctor, couple days ago I had surgery, but my surgeon says that I need to keep my scars dry at all times, he said I cannot apply any silicone gels or anything for 7weeks. I want to know if it’s TRUE or NOT? How do I make sure my scar is not developing on the outside? Thank you🌻

    • @alioxinfree
      @alioxinfree Před 3 dny +1

      You can use silicone scar sheets as soon as your wound is closed and not oozing or crusting. "Dry" also means cleaned of wound ooze or sweat but use neosporin/antibiotic ointment, don't leave the skin papery dry after wound cleaning. That will help with reducing external scarring, but ALL incisions leave a bit of external scarring, scar strips are best tool to minimize formation.

      Where are you located? Depending on the type of scars there are different treatments you can get. Look up certified plastic surgeons in your area, and do your research to make sure they are reputable. Laser helps a lot after a few months the cuts have healed. But first and above of all, try getting out of the violent situation 😢 nobody deserves to get hurt! If you don’t have the money for procedures you can get silicone scar gel and silicone sheets at the pharmacy and SPF. Stay out of the sun!
