    There’s no hiding it, I’m a die-hard fan of the EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run. It’s probably the pedal that I use the most since it just delivers flawless atmospheric ambience straight out of the box. So when EarthQuaker Devices announced an updated version of this ambient masterpiece, I of course had to check it out immediately. After the announcement, I noticed that a lot of people online had a hard time figuring out what sets the V2 apart from the V1, hence I thought I’d make a quick VERSUS video to showcase both the visual and sonic differences.

    Man was really hoping there wouldn't be enough difference to justify getting a v2, but it looks like once I get my stereo setup where I want it I will be making the upgrade. Thanks A LOT STEFAN!

    You always get amazing tone and sounds that are always inspiring. In short you make me pickup my guitar. Please keep doing more and more. Also hope to see you doing more dirt pedals this year.
    P.S.
    How do you like the Iconoclast compare to the C.A.B? Can you please do a shootout or a comparison using the same rig around them?

      @thepedalzone  Před 6 lety

      My pleasure! Yes, you can just turn the delay mix down completely, and then you only have Reverb. You can also do it the other way around if you only want Delay 🤘

  • @mattgilbert7347
    @mattgilbert7347 Před 6 lety

    Nobody does Reverb/Delay pedals like EQD.
    For me, the simplicity and small size of the Dispatch Master (and the fact it sounds beautiful) make it a winner.
    But...I'm running a dual amp rig nowadays. Wet/dry.
    Avalanche Run V.2 in stereo might be something worth trying. I sold my Disaster Transport and now have no EQD pedals on my board.
    That's a crime!
    So...either this V.2, a Dispatch Master, or a Disaster Transport Sr.
    Anyone got any recommendations or tips? I'm a Fender player, and use two Fender combos (one is a Bassbreaker, less scoopy, more like a British-voiced Fender amp).

    Can you do the sound on sound looping with the V1 like you showed with the V2?

    • @thepedalzone
      @thepedalzone  Před 6 lety

      Yes, the V1 can do sound on sound. The momentary switches in the V2 just make sound on sound mode easier to use as you can quickly jump in and out of it 😊

  • @smatlanta1
    @smatlanta1 Před 4 lety +1

    Maybe I missed it... but is there a way visually to know if I just bought a version 1 or version 2? I just bought the Avalanche Run Special Edition Attack of the Yeti Reverb/Delay Effects Pedal. No where on my pedal does it say "version 2" How can I tell if this is the most current version 2? I know that the regular (non-limited edition) version 2 pedal is better than version 1. How can I make sure I have a version 2 Yeti Limited edition. Is there a way to tell just buy looking at it or is trying it out with the "flex" option the only way to know. (Maybe the Yeti edition is only version 2?

    • @thepedalzone
      @thepedalzone  Před 4 lety +1

      I'm pretty sure the limited Yeti version was released after the AR got the V2 treatment, so yours should be a V2. But a way you can see it is on the enclosure. The V2 is simply slightly wider, giving it more of a straight square look, whereas the V1 is a bit slimmer, giving it more of a rectangular look, which I actually show in this video :)

    • @thepedalzone
      @thepedalzone  Před 4 lety

      Another way to tell right away, is by hooking the pedal up in stereo. If you get a gorgeous and wide stereo reverb, then it's a V2. If you get a more narrow and flat reverb, then it's a V1.

  • @coreyw5981
    @coreyw5981 Před 6 lety +1

    The whole v2 in stereo was probably the greatest sound ive ever heard!! Although im currently not educated enough on "stereo" and how to achieve that sound. Do i actually need two amps to get that sound? Or how does that iconclast box work? What was your chain/path? Looks like nothing was coming out of iconoclast

    • @thepedalzone
      @thepedalzone  Před 6 lety +3

      Hey man! Happy you liked that sound. It does indeed sound incredible in stereo ☺ And yeah, to play in stereo you need two amps, or something that simulates two amps, such as the Iconoclast. The Iconoclast is a stereo cabinet simulator in a box. My signal path for the video was Guitar -> Le Clean preamp -> Avalanche Run -> Iconoclast. The Avalanche Run is going stereo into the Iconoclast, and the Iconoclast is going stereo out to my Recorder. Hope this helps ☺

    Great video as always! So I notice that you say the V2 is "true stereo" but the V1 is "dual mono". I'm guessing this means that the V1 just has identical copies of the signal going out to each output? How does the V2 make a "true stereo" sound? I definitely heard the difference, just wondering what I'm hearing!

    Hi. Fantastic playing and review.
    Can you let me know whether this pedal can either:
    1. Send tap tempo messages to external devices to sync.
    2. Receive tap or clock info
    Thanks

    • @thepedalzone
      @thepedalzone  Před 6 lety

      Thank you very much, man! Really cool to hear you enjoyed the demo and found it helpful 😊 The answer to both of your answers is no though. The Avalanche Run can't send or receive MIDI or Sync info. So you have to sync it up via its own built-in tap tempo switch.

The exp pedal on mine is always on the D.Mix setting for this exact use even though i could be using on any other parameter instead. Hmmm! Now i gotta ponder this awhile
