    Looks like a really lovely site. Always good when there’s a nice walk for the dog too. Not too expensive. Great to have garden centre and a decent cafe. Well done on the paddle board David. Looks like a great place to learn. Aw. Nice to celebrate Nic’s birthday. Safe travels both 😊

      Thank you - hope you are both ok. We thought the site was great and it exceeded expectations and the farm shop was great too and in walking distance. Was disappointed I didn’t manage to stand up, to be fair most folks were sat down given the wind. Next time will try again.
      All the best wishes, David & Rachel ❤️

      We would defiantly go back, and would recommend, hopefully next time won’t be as windy.
      I’m hoping to maybe stand up next time but let’s see.,, I think you need good balance and that I don’t have 😀
      Thank you for commenting it’s really appreciated, all the best. David 👍

    Looks a nice site and some nice walks with the dog too. The garden centre and farm shop looked nice as did breakfast Mmmm. Rachel, you did make me laugh when you said you were a little disappointed as David didn't fall in the water 🤣. Fair play to you David for going on the paddle board. Finally what a lovely thing to do regards Nic's birthday 👌. Thanks

      Hi Tim, the site was lovely, quite a way to the facilities but all in all we still liked it.
      I was all tech’ed up to capture David falling in but unfortunately it didn’t happen this time! He is going to try to stand up next time so I will be back 👀
      I look forward to finally meeting you soon!

    Hi, we just been to visit the site and parked next to the toilet/shower block.
    The elderly lady owner (she informed us that was the owner) came out of the big blue cabin as we drove into the car park but she wouldn't allow us to walk round to see the touring area when we asked because she told us that she was locking the gate at 5pm. We arrived at 4:45pm.
    She informed my wife and I that they had to turn many away for the Easter holidays due to the water logged site.
    After looking at your video and Google Earth it baffles me why the owner doesn't invest in an upto date gravelled or tarmac road round the site and more hard standing pitches.
    Just hope it dries out in time when we are booked up to go on a non electric grass pitch for the Kings Coronation Bank Holiday week end.
    I might phone back up to see if they have any hard standing pitches left next to the site road now.

      Thanks for the comment. It makes a lot of sense given the British weather to have a degree of hard standing and tracks doesn't it - hope you manage to get sorted out. There has been a lot of rain down over the past days so imagine it would be soggy on the grass but sure there was some pitches which did have some more solid surface.
      All the best, David & Rachel 👍

    A guy I work with does paddle boarding and says the biggest mistake people make is getting a board too short for their height, makes it very hard to stand up apparently, site looked ok we don’t mind grass no hook up but only in the good weather, as the year goes on we like hard standing although I’m trying to get away from hook ups as you know 👍

      @LeisureBit  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you - good tip on the paddle board . Agree ref grass, whilst I’ve not got stuck *yet* in the CV, I have permanently been scarred by when we got stuck a number of times in the coachbuilt we had years ago so would stay off grass in the winter or when it has been wet.
      Thanks again, all the best. David & Rachel 👍

    Thanks for your imformative video. Do you happen to know how many pitches the site has got both with EHU and non EHU? We also like to go non electric too. Let's hope prices don't increase to much higher than £20 in 2023. (No details on website yet its not updated)

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  Před rokem

      Thanks for the comment. It’s licensed for 70 touring pitches but not sure the split of electric/non electric - I would estimate more non electric than electric.
      Fingers crossed on the prices eh!
      all the best, David & Rachel 👍

    Thanks for sharing your vlog. Looking on google maps the site is one field away from the river Swale. Can you actually walk along to this? Also just across from there is Swale Pasture Lane into Catterick. Is there any where to cross the river to get onto this lane. Thanks again. Ian.

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Thanks for watching. I’m not sure on those questions but will check it out next time we go. I’m sure you can walk into Catterick down public footpaths for the majority of the way but not sure on the crossing. All the best, David 👍

      Thanks very much for subscribing and welcome to the channel. I’m not sure who the wardens are now but we’re planning on going back (May I think) as we really enjoyed it and the place nearby did delicious food! Thanks again, all the best, David & Rachel 👍

  • @CaravanWithThatYorkshireChap

    Great Vlog. Nice site but disappointing to see them charging full rates for camp site paying guests to use the lake 🤨

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for the comment - it was a shame use of the lake wasn’t included in the site fee as if you used it on both days that would have been £18 on top of the £20.
      Thanks again, all the best, David & Rachel 👍

      @@LeisureBit We would probably search for sites with free access to water 😀
