- In part 4 of this 4 part series, storytellers Martin Shaw and Daniel Deardorff conclude the story of the boy and Iron John. Dave Ballman sings This May Be the Last Time as a bonus track at the end.
Love the song ! I can't believe there's no complaints/ comments on this story I've listened to it 3-4 times now and feels great every time
Amazing
Not happy with the ending...
All his life he was an alfa and suddenly in the end he's beta
With all due respect, it sounds like you hadn't listened to all 4 parts of the story. The point of the story isn't whether the boy turns out to be an alpha or beta male, rather the boy went through an initiatory experience being in the wild and with the aid of the mysterious red-haired wild man. As a result of his initiation, he became a true warrior, so much so, that he transformed the wild man back into a king in the end. Our culture overlooks the value of an initiatory experience in the wild and of those who can help us through it.
Did the queen (mother's pillow) enchant iron john? Thoughts on this please?
...and if so what does that say of the dynamic between the original king n queen ... (The golden haired boys parents)
@@jkay4392 I believe, the mother (the key under her pillow) represents the archetypal relationship between mother and son. Steeling the metaphorical key is what every son has to do to become a man and become independent from their parents. The question is how and what way does he do it to become an initiated male.
@@jkay4392 In this story I don't believe the golden haired boys parents "dynamic" is really that important. The story is more about becoming an initiated male or female through the aid of a "wild" mentor.
