    If you’re here, it means you’re contemplating a critical decision for your adult child with a developmental disability. Today, we delve into the world of legal guardianship - a topic that deserves your careful consideration because of the huge impact it has on your loved one’s life.
    What is legal guardianship for adults with disabilities?
    Guardianship means obtaining the legal authority to make decisions for another person. This happens by going to court and proving that your loved one with a disability is incapable to a judge, who would then appoint a guardian.
    Please exhaust all of the alternatives before going forward with guardianship - and I will explain why when talking about the pros and cons of guardianship in this video.

    Just because a Judge approves Guardianship these usually don't last more than a maximum of 3 years. mostly last one year.

      @@envirocleanct I'm stuck in one with my daughter. They are horrible any suggestions. They steal her money abuse her. Put her in condemned homes. The care givers are felons. The list goes on.

    There is a group home that is potentially shutting down with a lot of my guys not having anywhere to go. They’re mostly older in their early 60’s to mid 70’s. I don’t know what to do to help them.

      And two of the older gentlemen have guardians that are dying.

      @@brittm1468 you can have them placed in nursing homes and the 2 that are dying should be on hospice

    no guardianship are not good for the learning disabled. I had a horrible horrible experience for my daughter.
