    Good afternoon,
    I have a pool with a spa and water cascades. I’ve noticed that 2 lines along the pool wall are not pushing any water out (all the others along the wall are pushing water out). Is this normal, do I have 2 lines that are used for something else or are they clogged/not working? Thanks for your help in advance!

    • @thepacketnarc7634
      @thepacketnarc7634 Před 2 lety

      @@benacero2357 There should be a Jandy style check valve on the return line going to the Spa. some of them have a clear lid and you can see the 'flapper' . This is designed so that when water is NOT flowing toward the spa, the check valve closes and doesn't allow water to back siphon toward the pool. This is because the spa is usually the highest point in the pool (above the water line of the main pool, so it wants to drain back.)

    Thanks for the good and thorough info! Is there any way to tell if a line is collapsed or blocked? Our Polaris stopped running (burning out the booster pump) and the guy who usually maintains the pool says it PROBABLY collapsed but doesn’t know what to do about it

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  Před 3 lety +2

      Rigid pvc is usually used underground, so the collapse would be the flexible pipe that is above ground. You could disconnect the hoses from the pump and connect a garden hose to the lines to see if water is passing through.

    I have an old school gate valve, which is probably the drain valve which is frozen/broken. I constantly get high psi pressure around 30 (even after cleaning de filter, it eventually climbs to 30 after a few hours) and my suction last for an hour or so until there isn't any suction. I may have an air leak, but would fixing the drain valve solve my issues. I would jump in the pool to see if the drain gets suction, but the water is to cold lol

    My pump is losing prime every time I turn on the cleaner , any idea why ?

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  Před rokem

      It's usually because the pump can't get enough water when the suction line is isolated to the cleaner. If the cleaner is on a dedicated suction line, try opening up the skimmer line a little bit until the pump remains primed. If you plug the vac into the skimmer line, slightly open the main drain and see if the pump regains prime.

    I just attempted to open the pool and found out that the pump didn't work, it totally rusted. I replaced it myself, but now I have a dilemma trying to figure out why the DE filter is not holding pressure. It doesn't squirter the air or water out from the air vent. I have two valves that are before the pump: one seems to control the return outlets and the other one - the skimmer. When I open the pool, do these valve both need to be open? When I have only one open and one closed, the returns blow out water normally and the skimmer has good suction. When I open the second valve, the skimmer seems to stop sucking in the water. What controls the bottom drain? It is so confusing... thank you for your help! My pool guy just ignored my calls to open the pool this year. For 8 years he did a great job, and this spring he just ditched me....

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  Před 2 lety

      A big valve after the pump could control a few different functions. If it is right after the pump and before the filter, it could be a filter bypass valve or a valve for a pressure side pool cleaner (Rayvac). It could be a multiport valve for the filter. If it is after the filter, it could be to open/close solar panels, a heater bypass, control water features. I'd tale a couple pictures of the equipment pad and email us those pictures. We may be able to ID it. Email upload@inyopools.com

      Hello Jennifer - That valve looks like a manual filter bypass. The pipe leaves the pump discharge and then enters the valve. There are two lines that exit the valve. The line that is open, appears to go into the filter (the picture cuts off). The second line (bottom) is closed. I believe that line returns to the pool and bypasses the filter.

    Where does the main drain return water to?

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  Před 2 lety

      The main drain line is on the suction side of the system. The water is pulled from the main drain, through the pump/filter, and then returns to the pool through a return jet. It could also return to the pool through a spillover, waterfall, or deck jet.

    How should valve be set if I just run the cleaner everyday and leave it as that, don’t want to turn valve all the time

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  Před rokem

      The exact setting of the valves can be different on every pool. Assuming you have a suction cleaner with a dedicated vac line, you would want to close the line to the main drain. Then test the cleaner with the valve completely open for the cleaner and skimmer. If the cleaner is running slow or not at all, slowly close the skimmer line until you see good movement from the cleaner.
      We have more in depth info on the valve settings for suction cleaners in the following video. czcams.com/video/n7fXDcqGrQQ/video.html

    • @Inyopools

      Maybe one of the valves is bad and water is bypassing the diverter. Assuming all the valves are working properly and you closed all the valves on the intake and discharge side, water would not continue to come out of the filter.

    How do you set your valves to vacuum to waste ?

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  Před 6 měsíci

      The pool in the video didn't have an option to vacuum to waste. Sand and DE filters with multiport valves would set their valve on "Waste". A cartridge filter would require a 3-port valve after the pump and before the filter. The 3rd port could be used as a waste feature.

    • @Inyopools

      If your filter has a multiport or push-pull valve, set it to 'WASTE,' then set your plumbing valves to the usual settings for vacuuming.
