      @Hello Kitteh as I said. Things have changed since back then. Even this engine can make at least close to hat power no matter what this video suggests. Technology has advanced quite a bit since this torque monster of an engine went away in1991 on the Corvette. Just my two cents.

      1991 ZR-1------------------------------------------ 375 hp 370 fp torque--------- 0 - 60 in 4.7 sec/avg------- 1/4 mile 12.9 secs

      Now for kick's 1991 Lingenfelter-ZR1-455 hp 395 fp torque----------0 - 60 in 4.1 sec/avg------ 1/4 mile 12.3 secs
      pretty impressive numbers for any street cars in early 90's. But the naturally aspirated Lingenfelter really makes a statment up against the Twin Turbo Callaway.

    • @algernonilfracombe
      @algernonilfracombe Před 6 lety

      Wow, nicely done. I hadn't realised some of their records went so far back. The overall chassis of the C4 was certainly capable of handling more oomph and the reverse-flow cooled LT1 engine was ridiculously tunable. From what I understand, the boring-out may simply have helped more than the lag intensive turbochargers. Wonder how Callaway's Aerobody option and modified shock-spring setup would have helped top speed...

      @dwa5783 Před 6 lety

    • @algernonilfracombe
      @algernonilfracombe Před 6 lety

    @ChuckTruck78 Před 6 lety +14

    Dude, the Z07 performance suspension option was not offered nor included with the ZR-1! They all were, however, equipped with the FX3 selective ride control. Corvettes in 1991 were not 300hp in 1991, either! 1991 was last year for L98, and it was 245/250 hp depending on options chosen. It wasn't 300 hp until 1992, with debut of the LT1. And what is wrong with this car? It takes off slower than an LT1, and with that much power it should be shredding the tires!!! Sounds horrible, and very tired!

    • @dwa5783
      @dwa5783 Před 6 lety +4

      Hey, ChuckShmuck, The FX3 option was discontinued in 1990, It was basically replaced with the ZO7 option which had more upgrades along with the adjustable suspension and was included on almost every ZR-1 that was delivered. Also the L98 was such a strong engine that the Callaway TT option was not even offered after 1991 with the introduction of the LT1 in '92, because R. Callaway determined that the LT1 could not handle the extra HP. Also the 32 valveZR-1, and Callaway TT both had rather high incident rates of blowing them selfs up, unlike the long term dependability associated with the much stronger build of Lingenfelter. And Damn, I think this 26 year old beast sounds awesome ! their is a technique called "pedaling" that is used to get better traction, quicker acceleration and keep from SHREDDING a thousand $'s worth of tires also.

    • @ChuckTruck78
      @ChuckTruck78 Před 6 lety +4

      Dwa57 Hey dickwad57, you clearly don't know Corvette facts. The FX3 option carried thru production to 1995. Then in 1996, the FX3 was replaced with F45 selective real time damping. The Z51 option was available from 1984 to 1990, then it was replaced with option Z07 in 1991, and continued to 1995, then in 1996, the Z51 option was resurrected and could be ordered combined with or without F45 selective real time damping. Dickwad...........

      @ChuckTruck78 Před 6 lety +4

      Dwa57 and another thing, look at any ZR-1's RPO/SPI code sticker and you will not see code Z07! The FX3 option was a stand alone option, and when code Z07 was chosen, it automatically included FX3, but limited to coupes only, and NOT ZR-1's or convertibles!

      Yes, I noticed that to.
      But you have to do both. A 3,75" crank gives 377 ci. That is acually the stroke of the 400 ci engines.
      To get 383 ci you have to have the 3,75" crank and bore the block, I think the bore should be 0,030" oversize to get 383 ci.

    You guys are something. I have learned from you that rod length changes cubic inched...FICTION
    Learned that a 3/4 stroked 350 makes 377 inches. FICTION
    Lastly, the guy with the Vette is a pro on Lingenfelter 383's. FICTION.
    To argue about what is or isnt a 377 or a 383 is just stupid. Your YAPPER doesn't make it so.
    Math makes it so. Math mathematics is the science.
    .030 over bore is standard in rebuilds. A 350 crank in a 30 over 400 makes a 377.
    A 30 over 350 with an increase of 1/4 stroke gets you to 383 cubes.
    Camshafts, who wants to Yap about what they do.
    I bet i get fiction here too.
