This song makes me think of my older sister. My mom was at rock bottom, spiraling in drug addiction and prostitution and 3 of us were suffering the consequences of that. My sister about 20 years older than me took us one night. She asked us if we wanted to leave that place, and all of us with wide - happy eyes said yes! Her and her boyfriend packed us into a little car and drove us that night from California to Michigan. No looking back. It saved our lives from following suit. Sometimes you gotta listen to what "mama" says- whoever that is to you. Sometimes you gotta be "mama" and climb out of the depths with nothing but a bag to your name. Sending healing and love to anyone reading this. Thank you for this song.

My dad was heavy into drugs and my mom was trying to distract us from noticing. She packed us up one night and we moved into a hotel to get away from him. This song resonates with me so much. Reminds me of not knowing what to expect and following your parents around aimlessly. Thank you for the beautiful healing song! 🎼I think about it all the time!! 🎶
I changed schools 14 times while growing up thanks to my mother's addictions.
I heard a different story with every move. "Abusive boyfreind, bad landlord, bad friends, 'just gotta get out of this town', etc." Things may have changed for her every time, but the only thing that changed for me was the piggy bank of my childhood lost a dollar with every move, and I was slowly robbed of a normal development and lifelong friendships.
This song is a soundtrack for my youth. I'm still not a normal man, even at 35 years old, but I am very good at social distancing. I forgive and love my mother, but my childhood is something I'll never get back. Be good to your children and give them the life you wish someone had given you. The world depends on it.

Parents left me when I was to young. This songs reminds me of my mother in law that stepped in to be my mom in a hard time in my life. Loved her so much. She pasted right before Covid. I miss her so much. Her birthday is today……. Hard to not be sad. She left a hole that I can’t fill.

And all that ever mattered was my children and me making sure we left and just as long as we had each other it was enough.... getting away from such horror.. a lot of going back later. I just discovered you last week but I swear I have listened to this song hundreds of times already. I love it. It's so sweet and innocent and this is exactly what it's like being a kid in that situation and then growing up to tell about it. I hope kids in this situation find this song so they know someone grew up, survived and they lived it too. Change is scary as an adult but it's terrifying as a kid, especially when life is scary already.

If you know momma has the kids 24/7 and is just in survival mode. Be a friend that wants her and the children to thrive. Turn down that song no matter how much it bumps, the baby in the next room needs a quiet place to rest. when you have him spend the night, don't say sorry for your baby crying, it's what baby's do. Talk to your children, look them in the eye if it's only 5 seconds a day. look at there face, their skin, their eyes, their soul. They're part of you your meant to be their mother, don't compare. don't hit them in anger. calm yourself down when bad things happen baby's feel our energy and if we're upset trying to get baby not to be upset, it may be a problem. If you have to take five seconds and think of love pour out of you like champagne on a stripper..focus it coming from your chest to your children's chest and I promise they'll feel it. Mommas dance with your children. be naked (stop,it's not about sex) these young moms don't know how to be or feel embarrassed for talking baby talk in front of their bf. grab your baby, take off your shirt and play The seed by The roots with your offspring in your arms. Everyone is hard on mommas so mommas go hard on them, the cycle never breaks if you follow their footsteps. sometimes there's a better route with fewer traffic jams. take it, even if your momma thinks now she's too good for us.. no..now you know better so now do better. and remember to support mommas and uplift mommas because they weren't always mothers, they were children with mommas too, so gives your sons and daughters a five second squeeze and look them in the eyes and tell them you love them too.
If ever you find yourself looking down on a momma, please reach for their hand to help them up.
