First of all, I think April liked Sterling way before, she always greets Sterling first, win or lose she will always be there... second, I think April liked Sterling when they were still friends. This could be part of the first theory, but the first one I mean when April started to like Sterling as an adult and in this one I mean when they were both in the beginning. Come to think of it, it's strange that April stopped talking to Sterling and ended their friendship when she was younger, so quickly and with nothing, I believe April already liked her there and since her family is conservative, she didn't want anyone to find out or did not want to accept herself as a lesbian person, so they stopped being friends and Sterling's sister saw that she suffered from the loss of her friend when she was younger and that's why she created this rivalry, but Sterling can't hate, that's why she always defends April when she can and when she can't , she tries to do it indirectly....third, it could have been jealousy, she probably didn't forget about Sterling after so long, that when she saw that her first love was in a relationship, she started to treat Sterling as her rival, not to mention that Sterling always has everything in her Palm... fourth, she wanted to hide, we see in this season that April is very afraid of her father and it seems that she is afraid that people will find out and that this will reach her father's ears, so much so that when they kiss on their first date, and she has those lights on her clothes, she says that news spreads very fast and in fact that is true, so she may have created this character Tough, so that no one would notice that she might be gay, nor would she explain the end of them Is not it?.... for those who have already seen it all, if Netflix were doing the second season, they could explore Sterling's mother and father a little, where we found out that in fact, they are not twins, but from different parents, we could also explore a little Sterling and April's relationship and acceptance, people's disapproval too, probably even her "sister" dating someone... I even thought it could be Sterling's ex, but it would be weird. it would be great to explore the two protagonists a little.... if I went to netflix or was part of the script, in a certain episode, I would make April's father homophobic, but accepting his daughter and becoming friends with Sterling's father. The school normalizing homosexuality and them staying together. I'm suspicious of April's friend too hahaha I would make his character take off a bit too (on the positive) but unfortunately it was canceled and it would be great if we ask netflix to renew sorry if there are any mistakes, i'm still improving my english hahaha it was a bit hard to do, i'm not that confident.
