What a bargain - only £5 ! for the 1888 Half Crown and the 1942 Half Crown's look brilliant - now that I've upgraded my penny and half penny collection, I might buy a tray and start to sort out my scattered half crown accumulation
Some very crisp half crowns, I've just realised, the only George VI coins I've got are half silver and cupro predecimals. I must check out gold coin availability.
update: I received my 1919 half-crown the other day; It's a decent coin, the obverse is XF condition, reverse looks AU or better. It's amazing how bright and silvery shiny the 50% coins are! I would think with so much copper alloy they would look significantly darker than the sterling versions. 6:55 Please don't drop those beautiful coins into your box so carelessly. As you said, some of those 1940's half-crowns are in beautiful condition. Why risk denting them by dropping them roughly into your "junk" box? These are precious heirlooms of the days, now seemingly long past, when the British empire was a truly great and admirable nation! 2:44 That 1942 is amazing condition. Even so, I don't love that design since the shield looks squashed. Yeah, we get the idea, the king's name starts with a G, but we don't need 4 G's squeezing the shield unnaturally. 2:29 The little tail on the R is cute, like a kitten's tail! 8:28 That ornate reverse is super nice, and rich with symbolism. Notice how the sculptor even went to the trouble of including the dot-grid background of the Scottish corner of the shield! But I should like to save up my money for an uncirculated version.
Great pick ups there, you give yourself a pat on the back for the Victoria half crown, that was a steal👏🏻 You don’t think it’s worth sorting the VF or better 50% coins because of a collectors value ? I think people doing date runs will pay quite a bit more than spot for some of those you showed us today🤔
For looks the 1942 and 1944 Halfcrowns, but value wise the 1888. You are lucky getting these coins below melt. Here I pay like $10 and $12 on average for 50% Florins and Halfcrowns. Our greedy government adds on 15% GST for non pure silver coins and our dollar has dropped to 47p from 50p lately. So that £5 halfcrown would be like $10.50 here and no one would sell a sterling halfcrown that low, cheapest would be $22 or $23 now!
Love those 42 half crowns, brilliant grade.
Definitely 💯
Great coins. Some of those Half Crowns are in amazing condition-collectible grade!

Good point
And perhaps I should
great coins
Thank you 🙏
It was a great price for the coins. But I will state if buying for just the silver Pre 1920 925 silver you get a better scrap price.
Very true
nice video like
Thank you 👍
Under spot, that’s very decent Ethan.
Thank you 🙏

That's awful, you are over-taxed. Quit voting for those tax and spend politicians. Coins should be 100% tax-free everywhere.
Often the case that foreign coins are more expensive
"Empire" silver is always higher priced than British at my antiques shop
Is the 1942 half crown in your collection really better than the one you just put in your melt box?
Perhaps not at some point I am going to go through it and upgrade
