I owned a 1979 SR 500 for 25 years, to say I loved that bike is an understatement!
very nice "special" ! I am producing the "x start" in France and it is a pleasure to discover such an application ! congratulation. For information ,we supply a charging conversion 12 volt and soon a kit to convert the horn button on the handlebar as a starter button when you start and then horn button when the engine is running ! Herve and philippe from" Nuts and bolts dev" France
That’s great to know, we love the product. I will check out your new 12 V charging system for our next project thank you.
Wow that thing is sweet and absolutely beautiful, I have a 1979 XT 500 thumper, completely stock and still runs really good from the day I bought it .wish I could put some kind of money in mine , looks like that ones very sweet guys .Thanks for bringing it on.🤘
Very nice build. Made to modern standards while still keeping the vintage heritage 👌
You got the brief 👌🏽
Beautiful. Had a XT500 20 years ago, as well as a SR500. Maybe time to go back to the roots.
It’s also not a bad thing to have a few options…
@@PurposeBuiltMoto Yes, I will tell that the wife. Actually I love my Fantic Caballero 700 for everyday riding...and after some Harleys from the 50ties I'm working on a XS400-low-budget Scrambler. But yes....more is better. Regards from Germany.
This just might be our favourite of all your builds. Epic job team!
Chuck it on the wishlist!
Awesome build guys
If my '86 XL600R had elec start I would probably still have it. But at 71 yrs old, my kick start days for a big bore are long gone.
It’s a battle for all lovers of vintage bikes
Yep I have an 83 XL600R sitting in my shed cant start the thing unless my mate is here with his XT500 we us the ATV to pull start them both and then keep them wheeling up the driveway!
This looks amazing. Has me looking at my dad's old '77 TT500 in my backyard differently. I'd love to do something even half as nice with it.
No better time to start than now!
I would love to have my 1975 yamaha dt250 done in this style by you guys! I absolutely love yalls style!
Hit us up, let’s get it done!
In 1978 i bought a XT500. Put 90k miles on it, then the crank case cracked and the transmission shafts got out of line, and would not shift! The bike was super clean and the polished aluminum tank was un dented. sold for $200 US. I have heard that the fuel tanks in pristine condition are selling for $1000+ US! I wish I had a disc brake back then Nice build!
Wow great build very cool 😎
Thanks 👍
Very Nice ! You could Sell those All Day Here in America
awesome job, kick starting these single bangers was a chore.....
Well done!
Wonderful bike congratulations 🤗
Γαμηστερο...👍👍👍
Beautiful!
So sick! Great video production too!
Appreciate that mate I’ll pass the compliment on!
F-in nice bro! Good work mate
my 1975 xt 500 had the paris darkar tribute white bros. suspension added 9 in of travel. 3x cam , head shaved, full supertrap exhaust , and set up on trollbergs built it right after i bought it new. its been a beast
Sounds like a beast, but I never liked the sound or look of a supertrapp
@@PurposeBuiltMoto run with 18 disc wide open
On of the most popular of the road/dirt bikes of the 1970's given a upgrade.
Nailed it
What a tidy looking beast
🤝
Rad!
baby keep em coming
We’ll do our best
so dope
🎉🎉
Love the bike, thank you for the video.
I have a TT and I'd love to mimic your rear light solution. I did look for the link that you said was in the text and I have been unsuccessful. I did send you a message and I look forward to upgrading my bike.
We’ll update the video description today and email you back with the info you need.
@@PurposeBuiltMoto thanks a million
What a fantastic project bike! Typically when you decrease offset you increase trail, which slows the steering and increases stability, assuming steering head/fork angle stays the same. Is that noticeable on this build?
The set up is very different to the standard XT. But we keep them within a useable and well handling geometry
@@PurposeBuiltMoto Will you be building any other XT500’s for sale or would the customer bring the bike to you?
We always build these bikes on commission
Hello there, this was a very nice restoration. Which 12V rechargable battery did you use? Was this the one supplied with the starter kit (SOLISE BM12005) or any other?
When we purchased the kit there was no rechargeable option, it’s an aftermarket battery
@@PurposeBuiltMotoof course, they supply a SOLISE battery which is charged via a charger that you plug on your house socket. So, now that the battery is charged via the stator's lighting coil, which exact aftermarket Li battery did you use and what kind of 12V rectifier? Ok, I can understand if what I'm asking could be considered as a classified info, though just wondering how you dealt with the overcharging issue that a Li battery faces...
XT start now supply kits with 12v conversion and rechargeable battery from the stator.
There are a lot of intricacies with running lithium batteries that I don’t give advice on. You will need to do your own research of your go that way and upgrade the charging system
Would you do an xl600 ?
We actually have an XL500 in the works at the moment 👌🏽
WeII, she sure is pretty.
Excelente Job thanks for the video
Do you guys hand make the front guards?
Yes sir 🫡
@@PurposeBuiltMoto can you make them without the bike and off measurements
@@denniswellard no, we only build those parts for our custom bikes
Noice✅😘
I'm not gonna get on your back about adding the electric start. If that one is like my buddy's '78 the process to line up the magic decompression mark and diddling around with it so you can kick it over.... it's to be avoided.
Anyone with an XT500 will understand that mod
Nice .... I'd ditch the awful electric start then it would be PERFECT!
