How Corporations Made Money from both sides during the Clone Wars

- During the Clone Wars several corporate states and trade unions joined the Separatist Alliance cause but at the same time maintained business interest and held political positions within the Galactic Republic. We take a look at how they operate freely without much recourse on both sides of the battle line.

Ferengi rule of aquisiton 127: stay neutral in conflict so you can sell to both sides.
That isn't a canon rule or even one mentioned in any non-canon sources, period. So, let me correct you with the actual ones for non-Trekkers who may not know them:
34: War is good for business. 35: Peace is good for business.
Rather quarky, ain't it?
SGT Nick H that is an awful pun. I love it
😏
The motto of Switzerland.
Those credits didn't come from nowhere. Thank you for your knowledge. It will be useful for our corporation's further financial endeavors.
Yes, credits FLY IN from droids and loans
The Techno Union Army ooouuuuiiiiooooo is at your disposal Count
Huh I was binge watching generation tech but I realized that when they say “you are generation tech” it mean that if you are watching the video you have something to watch it on, meaning YOU are apparent of this generation of technology.
Palpatines excuse for nationalizing the corporations was the actions of the Banking Clans, Techno Union, and Trade Federation during the Clone Wars which he had goaded them into.
People often point out that the government shouldn’t be involved in the economy, but having businesses involved in government can be just as bad
Suggestion: What if both sides of the Clone Wars were using conscript armies instead of clones and droids?
Republic wins hard due to overwhelming numbers and wealth.
In fact using clones pretty much crippled the republic. Not only did clones listen to idiotic orders albeit grudgingly, the number of clones were extremely limited compared to the billions of conscripts the republic could field. Also the jedi would try to preserve the lives of conscripts better which would lead them to at least attempt to create better tactics. The clone army was a trap, while the droid army was brilliant.
@@dtly50 Jedi would not command constricts, but actual military officers would. Clones were created specifically so no one would oppose putting Jedi in command.
@CVK We talking here about professional military. Even Empire didn't use actual conscripts. Well, usually.
The Republic outnumbered the CIS enough in terms of population that it could probably have gotten away with recruiting volunteers instead of using conscription. Even if only 0.1% volunteered that's still a billion recruits from Coruscant alone.
That'd be a way to avoid a lot of the ethical problems.
Republic would destroy

Already they have produced combat Androids, like their *Nexus 6* line, which according to google debuted in 2014 and finished production in December 2015.
Of course you don't see any of them around in 2020 as they only had a 4 year lifespan, as shown in the classic movie about Nexus 6 Androids set in Los Angeles in 2019
Although there is some confusion, as I have found conflicting sources, some that claim they were made by Motorola, and some that say that Tyrell Corporation was responsible.
Alternate timelines result in different corporations creating the human like replicants or androids in different realities/timelines as well as the point at which production begins.
"Neutral corporations" Sure, Allen. Sure.
That was his point.
@Jope Lamp Fun fact. Fanta was invented as replacement for Coca-Cola, so they could sell own products to Nazi Germany. As usual symbolism of they flagship drink wasn't welcomed there. More you know 🌈
Suggestion: What if at the end of the clone wars Anakin instead of marrying Padme in secret decide to leave the jedi order and marry her openly and without the secrecy?
British East India company vibes are strong with this one. BEI company; think, Amazon, but with it's own large and well-equipped army, it's own fortress outposts, arms factories, warships and ties to the government but ones the government itself isn't entirely comfortable with, and that is a good idea of what the British EIC was.
On another note, I just realized how unusual it is, to see a deliberately "female" type droid, though not at all surprising where I see them; near all times..as service units, in political offices. What's the story behind that...if there is one.
You know what really gets me? After the fall of the separatists and the rise of Palpatine's Empire, why is it that the Empire decided to use slave labor for military projects like the Death Stars? It seems like organic slave labor is costly and inefficient compared to droid construction. I would have thought that a number of these parties would have made some real moves after the war in the high end military contracts sectors.
The Emperor found it amusing.
Slavery was a punishment for opposing the Empire
@@nobleman9393 Oh I get that. It's not that slavery of the offending peoples that comes into question. It's a matter of efficient labor, upkeep, and requiring specialized equipment to have that labor function. Why bother with say Wookie labor, when you can have mass produced droids that can work in a zero G environment without oxygen and have can magnetically adhere to the hull/super structure of whatever is being built? When they break, send them back to ether be repaired, recycled for parts, or sent back to be melted down entirely for re manufactured units. Meanwhile, slave labor of organics is prone to error, our squishy nature, the need for not exactly standardized equipment to do the work, and other issues that seem like far more overhead cost than simply deploying them as slave labor on planet side projects that are lower risk to project and cost.
@@nobleman9393 That was the justification Sidious gave Vader, but really he just enjoyed hurting people.
@@Cortanis001 In Star Wars at least for some jobs, organic labor is actually cheaper then droids. In many places lives have almost no value.
Lord Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish would fit in well with this crowd.
(thumbnail)- they def did.. that was our ultimate lesson from the space pirate in TLJ... no doubt.. Lol..
This was a real interesting video! The quality of this channel is so great!
“Too big to fail” cue Bernie sanders
@Generation Tech, thanks for helping me get through the Crona Virus. Keep posting Videos
how he helped you?
Kind of reminds me of how the U.S. government was paying the German arms company Mauser for patents used to make the 1903 Springfield rifle in WWI.
Also in the American civil war the British gun manufacturers were selling its rifles to both the union and the confederates
Papa Palpy: "I'm playing both sides, so that I always come out on top."
This is why you always keep an eye on the purse strings
Great vid showed a lot of stuff happening in the background of the clone wars.
Loved the show as always. Keep up the good work guys. And I agree with you about the divide between political power, and corporate power, is a good idea.
They play smart and got paid and killed. Great video
Ty Allen, this video say a lot 😊
I hope everyone learn something.
Very insightful.
This suggestion could be more for Generation Film, but a Politically Neutral video about the ‘Trials of Leadership’?
If the Senate had allowed the CIS to leave would the CIS have eventually faced internal Rebellion?… [Chancellor Valorum makes a unilateral decision without warning allowing the CIS to separate while Palpatine mutters _"Bantha droppings",_ or Palpatine had died during the Naboo indecent due to the fog of war] …
All the free spirits that had settled in the Outer Rim precisely to get away from overbearing authority may well have resented a authority that was far more overbearing than the Republic bear.
So they could have donned a uniform, say a brown coat, and untied around the concept that…
_You can't take the sky from me._
_Since I found Serenity._
Okay Captain Tightpants.
I liked all the political stuff that was going on during the movies. But of course the movie was made for children and they can't even understand those things anyway.
Fuck ceos
Even when I was 7 I still liked the scheming and corruption even though I barely understood politics.
Children were killed in the movie and there were beheadings. If it was made for children than they would be the kids of Isis
@@scottsanders4589 ?
@@Spyro757 what do you mean? It would be easier for me to explain my comment if I knew what you were confused about.
Hmm… perhaps the Republic at the start could have nationalised *all* the corporations involved.
When Palpatine finally did that, did everyone go "why didn't we try that sooner?"
They couldn't. Senate was a mess and many senators were bought by corporations. It is why many people actually support giving power to Palpatine, who was capable of making any decisions leading to creation of the Empire.
Thx for this vid was a bad day till i watched this
Alan you might want to look up how Modern Germany does it's free market.
Nice video
Hi, love your videos!!! I watch them all the time. I was wondering where you got the poster behind you with the CIS business tycoons? I’ve been looking to get an Identical one but with no luck
Nice! Interesting stuff
Such a huge problem with these Separatists coulda easily been avoided had they NEVER dissolved some semblance of a military. You ALWAYS should keep your own defense and offense abilities if your an "Empire", "Republic", "Alliance" or what not. They might notve needed the Clones or at least they coulda been able to hold their own on even tech and numbers if not heavily outnumbered them Seps had they never lost their's to begin with..
The only reason the corporations could make money was because Palpatine allowed them
i nearly died when i saw that he posted this video 17 min ago
What if instead of the Jedi and the Sith, the galaxy has the clans of Force-sensitive beings such as the Skywalker Clan and the Shan Clan?
And what difference it would make? It is still the same Force.
@@TheRezro The difference would be how they handle the Force. Each ninja clans has their own ways of styles of martial arts, policies, rules, social structures and secrets. So I believe the clans of Force-sensitive beings would be the same too.
@@lerneanlion It isn't how force work 0_0
@@TheRezro The Force is more than just the light and dark! There is a vast chunk of grey area between it! And that is where everyone is supposed to be. One should draw knowledge from many sources and using the light and dark powers is a way of balancing one another and also a good way of learning new things.
I always found it confusing when the clone wars ended cause wouldn’t the empire be in serious debt and I know they were able to control the banks
The empire was in serious debt, but like the US they were big and powerful.
Republic was in debet, Empire initially has decent starting position due to nationalization of banking clans. It is why most people actually support the Empire. It solve whole bordello what lead to Clone Wars. Problem was that immediately after that Palpatine jump in Soviet model of the economy "why grow food, when you can make bombs". It is why over two decades later majority of population become displeased with what is going on, though large portions of people still were isolated and feed by propaganda and localized wealth.
Hi genaration tech can I suggest the medicine history in star wars
Nothing out of the ordinary. Remember SWITZERLAND during WW2 !?

Kinda what the USA has powerful corporations lobbying congress and keeping politicians in their pockets manufacturing outsourcing to other countries where it’s cheaper
Clone Wars: *Exist*
Big Business in Star Wars: I small Profit!
I play both sides so that I always come out on top
As Qui-Gon said to Anakin’s owner, ”If we win, you keep all the winnings, minus the cost of the parts I need, & if we lose, you keep my ship. Either way, you win.”
Selling weapons is good for business.
I just wanna say one word: FORD
Strangely familiar to real history. Rothschilds, anyone? Federal reserve, anyone? Military industrial complex, anyone?
Good stuff.
You should do a podcast
Yes, that's brilliant. 🏆🏆🏆
I’m within the first 1000
Trade Federations? Embargos? Political intrigue? Now I remember why people first disliked the prequels (that and JarJar and the dialogue etc). But I gotta say, the Clone Wars series and books and Allen have really filled in the holes to make it a rather interesting and sophisticated story. Sadly, I don’t think any amount of background, spit and polish can save the sequels.
oh no, grey morality in my black and white fantasy, how bad!!! - some prequel hater
It was already interesting and sophisticated, TCW often diminishes that.
Why is this video in the old republic playlist
I would say that it is the democracy being bent to the will of capital. Remove capital and you have something much better
At the core of the clone wars was an evil mastermind who manipulated both sides.... it had nothing to do with "Corporations"
Go away 0_0 He could manipulate them exactly due to inherited flaws of wild capitalism. Remember that monopoly and dishonest practices are against spirit of this type of economy.
I love you Allen 😍
Probably the same way they do it in real life
Mixed market gang
Mixed market gang
Did you know The bankig clan help The republic
Say what you will about the UFP, this will never happen to them. Mainly because Star Trek's economy prevents corporations from being this powerful.
Given that Section 31 seems to be pulling the strings behind the scenes, this is not always a good thing.
You'd be surprised. According to the novel of Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country one of the conspirators in the effort to stop the Khitomer Accords was a man who the company which supplied Starfleet with a lot of its armaments. He held enough influence in the government to stave off investigations into him selling weapons to Non-Federation worlds.

This says ad 2 of 2. More like 5 of 2
you know, while I'm a conservative Republican who supports the ideas of the companies having a lot of control, I do believe it to be necessary for there to be balance because without balance, there is chaos.
I believe companies like SpaceX are great since it’s a private company that’s competing against government sectors such as NASA, however companies like Google is a little too big, they also have control over how many people perceive politics and history and stuff since they can censor things they don’t agree with.
