  • Figuring out a budget bikepacking setup can be a challenge and this is how I did it. Mixing generic drybags, cheap Amazon bags, and some choice specialty bikepacking bags, this rig is simple, effective, and will work on any hardtail mountain bike.

Hopefully you found something useful in this video for packing for your own bikepacking adventure. If you're on the fence about trying it, just do it. It's awesome! :)

Wow you have a great setup. You gave me some great advice on the front rack problem and the use of a dry bag strapped to the rack. Thank you.

Thanks! For such an inexpensive bike it's been a great platform to build upon to make it what I need.

Bear spray! Important not to forget that, haha. Here in the UK the most dangerous animal you're likely to encounter is probably someone's dog they let off the leash 😂

Haha, I think I've been in greater danger from aggressive dogs than I ever have been from a bear. In my decades of hiking and biking I've never had a negative bear encounter and in the southern area of BC it's mostly black bears which tend to keep to themselves and not show the aggression of grizzlies. On my recent Cowichan Valley bikepacking trip there was a bear pretty close to our tents overnight and although we didn't need it, just having the bear spray (and an air horn) available brought peace of mind. It carried on into the forest and had no interest in us. All our food and scented items were hung from a tree elsewhere.
