- Rad Mobile is a racing arcade game developed by Sega AM3 and published by Sega. It was released in arcades in February 1991, then ported to the Sega Saturn in December 1994 under the name Gale Racer.[b] A similar game with a two-seat cabinet was also released in 1991 as Rad Rally[c].

Did a check on that, and yes - this game came out before Sonic 1.
As well as this game being the inaugural game on the Sega System 32 hardware

Lot's of games looked good back then.
it was, people playing outrun before, this was a simulator and look so real with cabin and hifi speakers.
because it was the first 32 bit arcade game. advanced even for 1991.
Sega always had top tier arcade games.
Playing this on an actual sega arcade machine which was a mini rad mobile that moved as you turned corners and went up and down hills was so much fun. Buttons for lights, start. Managed to finish this game at the arcade.
This game completely escaped my memory until I saw a clip of it on an OUTRUN clones video.
The headlights and wipers for certain stages was so cool at that time.

To be able to cover ground as fast as is happening in this game, you'd have to go over mach 5. Over 3800mph. Maybe that's why this game was Sonic's first appearance.

5:35 Great ; 8:02 style of champions! 9:34 only brave drivers can take that path ; 10:18 / 10:27 exellent; BRAVO.
9:34 is probably the first time I've seen a playthrough where that doesn't stay on the tracks all the time.

This came out in 1990. Sonic came out with genesis 1988
False. Sonic was first released June 23, 1991 (US). Which was a full month before the Japanese release. This arcade game came out Oct 3, 1990, almost 8 months earlier. I have no idea where you got the idea that Sonic came out in 1988. It didn't. The original pack-in with the Genesis was Altered Beast, and that didn't change until Sonic was released.
Picked up an actual arcade machine. Anybody know if this game had force feedback in the steering wheel?
The cockpit version I played regularly did not.

I remember when it came out in 1991 it was AMAZING...so realistic compared to the others competitors.
