- We're back with our mudroom today! We have never had a mudroom before, but ever since moving to Utah, we've needed a space fit for trekking in boots covered with snow, storing hats and gloves, and hanging our coats to dry.

My husband and I hate our house because there is no mudroom and no place to add one. It's a must have for the next house we buy. This is dreaaaaaamy! I love the functionality and thought behind everything! Including the vented shoe storage and lockers! Congrats on your beautiful home Shae!

Mudrooms are one of the hardest working rooms in the house. It's also the first room the owner sees when they enter the home. For these reasons, I believe more effort should be given to mudrooms. This one is beautiful and matches the level of luxury of the rest of the home.

You started off wrong with, “unnecessary luxury of a room”. I would kill for somewhere to dump all our stuff when we come in the door. And to have it look so beautiful, while being utilitarian, huge bonus! I look around our place right now and all the things that could be put away in a space like that, are in the foyer, the den, the laundry, the dining room........great job!
Most people don't have the space to "waste" on a mud room, so "unnecessary luxury of a room" seems right to me. I would love one, but I wouldn't be able to afford a place that has room for it
jlammetje, I agree. I am glad that she, being someone wealthy enough own such a large and beautiful home as this one, acknowledges that most people could not afford to have a whole separate room dedicated only to storing their shoes, coats, ect.

I love everything and love your taste,style and wonder if HGTV is gonna pick up up and get rid of the rest of the crap except for JoAnn and Chip Gaines and a few others but they could improve and do some fresh things like you and that really help with tips! I think I would of done a wooden staircase or maybe paint the iron a darker color but I’m sure it’s beyond gorgeous up close and in person!!! You guys are everything ❤️
It could also work as a butler´s pantry! If you have a dinner at your house and don´t want all the food laying in the kitchen for everyone to see. Since it´s so close to the dining space, you can leave there the already cooked food and the change of plates so you can just grab it and do the change.
They do have a butler's pantry! It's on the right side of the kitchen. Left side is the mudroom, and the right side is the kitchen. You can check out their kitchen 's video 😊

😭.I thought the kitchen was my fave part but the mudroom beats it!! Love how it's glam and rustic at the same time. Such interesting moody tones and I absolutely love bold contrast and dark cabinetry. That wall of windows 😍😍😍
I loooove that dark blue colour and i wanted to do it for my kitchen. But seeing the slight dents and scratches with white showing through in her cabinets, I'm glad I didn't go for it as the dents and scratches stand out too much
