I don't get it? Kids wear pants and shorts now, are you talking about skirts on boys? Clothes don't have a gender but yk
@@loganm8220 many schools without uniforms have a dress code that doesn’t allow boys to wear shorts

When i dance like that I'll always end up looking like a wet spaghetti noodle on a windy day
You guys did the 1930s boy DIRTY lmao
@@Christinavernon2382 yeah, but like the people then used the flour sack material to MAKE clothes. Like, a lot of the time they'd cut out pieces and sew them in to clothes, not just "ey here kid, have a sad dress". Also that looked like a potato sack, and the itchiest fricking material ever lmao. At the time a lot of companies started printing patterns on the sacks when they heard that people were making clothes out of them.
Literally all of them act like Sims characters

@@artngames8008 I mean I does fit the style of the great depression, cuz all these kids are depressed
They used the fabric TO MAKE CLOTHES not to put their kids in the sacks oh my god
@@schneiderjohnson8334 Exactly! They were a calico-type woven cotton, and a lot of flour companies started making the sacks in different colors and prints specifically because people were using them to make children's clothing and household items like kitchen towels.
Correct, parents used the fabric of feed sacks to make clothing and during the 30’s cotton was used as feed sack material, not burlap. Everything in the video lots it’s accreditation after that 😂. They didn’t put a sack on their kid 😭
the 2010s should of been those punny tshirts, like “im a ninja” or some crap, i was born in 2003, they all wore those throughout elementary
I love the 1910s, 1950s and 1960s those I feel were really neat and cute style for kids. The 2010s is a really good year style of clothes too for kids.
2:34 was the cutest thing I have ever seen

Is this why teenage boys will wear shorts in the winter- theyve evolved to not feel the cold in their legs

WHEN THAT KID CAME OUT IN THE POTATO BAG
So funny because they didn't actually make proper clothing using the potato bag fabric, they just put the kid in a sack 😂 if you look up "flour sack dresses" you can see that, while some looked like sacks, many were actually very cute. Probably depending on how much time and skill your mom had for sewing, and if the flour (or chicken feed, or whatever) sack you had around was a good color or pattern!
That was stupid. Potato bags were used as fabric, they were not used as sacks. And it’s not like everyone had to wear this so this didn’t show anything regarding what boys looked in the 30s.
So my dad has a photograph of his potato sack shirt. You would not know it was a potato sack because it was a printed cotton material. It’s a printed button down shirt. And honestly the cotton looks like better quality (more durable) than the button downs you buy in the store today.
1, the fact that some of you found that funny is evidence we're just a spoiled and shallow society. It's not "funny" that people were poor.
2, yes some wore other clothes. The video was trying to prove a point about the influence of the economy on clothing.
Ryan Beaty bruh this ain’t that serious what is funny is that the 1910’s and 1920’s ones were so normal and then 1930’s one randomly pops out with a darn potato sack that had us wheezing like calm down i
I love how significant events in history impacted clothing and styles
Say what you want, 1960s kid dances incredible
Imagine ur kid finally landing a modeling gig & he models in a potato sack
Bruh they didn’t actually WEAR THE SACKS. The potato sacks were made of a softer material they’d use and sew into clothing.
No sometimes they had to wear potato sacks because some of them was poor or eidnt have that type of money to buy the clothing
DANKIEST,BATMAN Read what I said again. They wouldn’t wear the sacks. They sewed with the fabric. The flour/potato companies started using printed fabrics for their sacks so people could make different clothing with it. Even the dirt poor.
@@tomemeornottomeme1864 high potential of it is not true if you think about it back in the 15 hundreds people USED to wear potato sacks before sewing was created this video must have gotten confused plus sewed machines or tools where very expensive backthen again even the USED to wear if you research hard enough and deep enough then you will find the exact same answer.
DANKIEST,BATMAN We’ve been sewing clothing for as long as we’ve had clothing. A needle and thread lasted humanity for thousands of years. And a LOT of people used to know how to sew, especially during times like the Depression when sewing machines or tailors weren’t an option because of funds.

02:27 see, that’s why the 50s decade is the best one
I fell really bad for the kid who’s wearing a potato sack😔
Hannah Beeson Green the potato sack actually makes sense because during the 1930s it was the Great Depression were mothers would use what ever they had to make clothes but unlike the video shows us they didn’t just give there kid a potato sack they would actually make the potato bag look like proper clothes by sowing it into a t shirt as a example
The kid that did the 1910s and 1950s was so cute!!
the 10s 20s and 50s were soooo adorable

jasmim Well you're either a kid that doesn't know any better or too spoiled to understand why that wasn't a "funny" period
@@ryanbeaty4893 actually people back in the day used to make clothes out of the material of the bags, not just wear the bags, so seeing the kid wearing that was kinda shocking and really funny. looks like i'm not the one who "doesn't know any better"

The 1950s: boys no longer had to wait until their teenage years to wear long pants.
My Dad in his childhood time (1960): I've been tricked, I've been backstabbed and I've been quite possibly, bamboozled
He likes to talk about how 'hard' his childhood was bc he had to wear shorts in the freezing cold (he didn't have a hard childhood)
I thought it wasn't until the 1960s. I remember in an episode of The Twilight Zone where the father was pleading with his dead mother to return his son to him. He mentioned something about that Billy won't ever experience wearing long pants and having girlfriends if he stays on the Other Side with her.
