  • 311 meters - William Joy🇹🇳 in Singapore surpassed the AIDA world record (301m) with a fast 3’ 56’‘ dive.
This marks William’s second time surpassing a world record, the first being three years ago on June 19, 2021, when completed 276 meters in DYNB, surpassing Matt Malina’s 253 meters to claim the top spot in DYNB. One year later, Matt reclaimed his unshakeable top spot through an amazing 290m dive.
    From William Joy’s Instagram:
Today, three years later, I‘m proud to dedicate this 311-meter dive to all those who have supported me. Thank you @cetma_composites_official @bestdive_official for allowing me to represent your brand and sponsoring me along the years. Thank you @enzo.zhao.3 and @matt_malina for teaching me starting from December 2019. Thank you @guillaumebourdila for being such a strong athlete and friend. Thank you @josephhsu1023 @oliviatang_31 for being my best students. Thank you to all the Singapore free divers who have supported this competition.
Unlike some of my respected world champions, I can’t fully indulge in freediving as a profession. 80% of my time is dedicated to work, 15% to freediving, and 5% to studying. I‘m uncertain how long my diving journey will continue, but I hope this achievement inspires fellow lovers of the blue. 🌊
