  • This is a combination of ground and aerial footage from my first test flight using a 3D printed Hamilton Standard propeller. It is also the first time I ave used an on board flight video recorder and there was some interference issues from the electronic speed controller which produced some interesting wavy imagery.
The propeller exceeded my expectations. In total I have now tested four 3D printed propellers, in flight they work fantastic. In ground handling, the propeller blades shatter easily when they hit a rock or piece of wood, which happened twice. The up side is that the hub holding the blades was undamaged each time. One propeller threw a blade during taxi, looking back I can account for that as I heard a cracking sound when attaching the prop to the motor, causing me to reassess how I handle the propellers.
Altogether I am very pleased with the performance of these 3D printed propellers.
