I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas. As an Englishman living in the US I was bawling my eyes out at every advert. So many memories of Christmas back home with my Mum when I was younger.
I miss my Beloved Maternal grandparents, and become extremely emotional at this time of year. Especially around late November and early December (with my birthday too; December 12th)
That advert with the Grandmother figure in it, made me cry because I miss my beloved maternal Grandparents so much. Both lost their lives to Coronavirus pandemic in January 2021 within the same week. Light a candle for Les and Irene Robertson xx. Rest in peace Nanna and Grandpa I miss you so much. I miss my beloved Maternal Grandmother so much 😢😢

I promise you these are all time classics that people return to every year - they're that GOOD!
One of my favourites from quite a few years back was from Sainsbury's. I think it was their 2014 advert. It showed the humanity of the soldiers in the trenches when they stopped fighting for Christmas. Always gets me too, war is mostly started by people that won't be fighting it.
Marcus Radishford, Fairytale of New York and A Christmas Carol? All wrapped up in what Aldi do with their Kevin the Carrot money? It has to be Aldi for me. I'll give Sainsbury's a nod though - for having the class to use Etta James' At Last. Great vid again, thank you Amanda.

Hi Amanda, a little late, but you should have a look at the 2011 John Lewis Christmas advert. This one was a game changer. It ignited a desire for advertisers to show meaningful messages. I can’t remember an advert that was so well received and talked about.

They are full of puns and plays on words, using food items in the names of the characters, like Charles Chickens instead of Charles Dickens and Ebanana Scrooge, Marcus Radishford. 😂
Love these Christmas videos I think the Disney video pulls on the heart strings makes me think of my son and 2 daughters and the bond you form with them And how much love is there my children still hug me and vice versa even though they are 25 19 and 17yrs old the bond and love is still there great content once again my best wishes to you and your family amanda
The golden age of adverts for me were the 70s and 80s with the beer and cigar adverts.It was mostly beer adverts.A cigar advert for Hamlet showed a bald man trying to take a passport photo and as he sat on the seat it dropped and it took a picture of a few lines of hair that dropped over his face.On the second and third attempt he kept pushing back his comb over and happened again.Funny that
Hi Amanda - I got home earlier today after spending the week with my Daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and her in-laws. We had an amazing Christmas! This was my first watch of the Disney ad and I loved it - it was very emotional for me as my stepdad passed away last year. He was my 'Dad' for 48 years and my daughter's Granddad all of their lives. The ad really made me shed tears - of sadness, mixed with happy memories.... I hope you all had a lovely Christmas... sending best wishes to you and your family for a happy and healthy 2022. x

At least over the past 20 years or so, John Lewis has produced the most memorable Christmas ads. When I was at school in England for six years, there were no TV ads, as commercial tv was very new. In those days, it was stores' Christmas window displays and lights which drew the crowds.

John Lewis usually spend a ridiculous amount of money on their adverts each Christmas, it's at least a couple of million pounds, if not more. I haven't seen the Disney advert before, that took me by surprise and I hadn't seen the Amazon Prime Video advert in full until now, it is usually edited down to fit advert breaks. The Boots and John Lewis adverts have been shown a lot over Christmas, especially on the Dave channel. You should see some of the Christmas adverts from previous years and even the classic adverts from the 80's and 90's. The biggest stand outs used to be the Coca-Cola adverts (which seem to be missing this year), like the ones with the Polar Bears looking at the Northern Lights and the classic Coca-Cola truck advert, with the Holidays Are Coming song in it. As a Doctor Who fan I was interested to see Jenna Coleman facing a smiling snowman. A nod to her early appearance in Doctor Who when she was confronted with deadly smiley snowmen? Can't be coincidence. Can it? ???

Being an ex-soldier myself it touched home as i've been away at Xmas a few times, obviously not in conditions as bad as that. I don't mind admitting i did bring a tear to my eyes.

Great reaction! We do love our tear-jerker Christmas ads! Always great stories of emotion and the great British humour thrown in! Do you have the same style of Christmas advertising in the U.S? I don't know if you remember the M&S v Aldi caterpillar feud a while back? But if you look closely at the Aldi advert (at the beginning) you'll notice the M&S caterpillar being taken away in handcuffs 😂
Great stuff ,our adds were always story telling even in the 60/70s but they’ve become like mini movies, I think I preferred the oldies because of the naivety ( and creativity with a very low budget). Used to think all countries did adds like this ( how wrong was that ? ) nice new US - UK Comparison, keep on keepin on , Merry Christmas 🤪🎄🎅☃️🙈❄️🌨🥶🧑🏿🎄🎟.

Great reaction! We do love our tear-jerker Christmas ads! Always great stories of emotion and the great British humour thrown in! Do you have the same style of Christmas advertising in the U.S?
I don't know if you remember the M&S v Aldi caterpillar feud a while back? But if you look closely at the Aldi advert (at the beginning) you'll notice the M&S caterpillar being taken away in handcuffs 😂

Great stuff ,our adds were always story telling even in the 60/70s but they’ve become like mini movies, I think I preferred the oldies because of the naivety ( and creativity with a very low budget). Used to think all countries did adds like this ( how wrong was that ? ) nice new US - UK Comparison, keep on keepin on , Merry Christmas 🤪🎄🎅☃️🙈❄️🌨🥶🧑🏿🎄🎟.

@@AMANDARAEUK a seasonal tradition I tend to have is to go up a trouser size during December and New Year this year I have excelled myself I have already gone up 2 trouser sizes and I haven't got two New Year yet the January weigh in is going to be a record haha have a Happy New Year regards Mark with my expanded waistline

Agreed John Lewis ads usually good and the Heathrow Airport ones too. This years John Lewis ad was a little strange.
The actress in the 2nd ad is Jenna Coleman who used to be in Doctor Who.
You'll note that advertisers have woken up and now reflect the true ethnic make-up and diversity of Britain which, according to these adverts, is now 90% black
