I have a toy poodle with tracheal and bronchial collapse. She turned 16 on November 6th. She has been on Theophylline and Hydrocodone for about six years. We moved from TX to NE in 2021. Tiffany missed her human and doggie friends and lost two pounds. Specifically, she went from 9 pounds to 7.5 pounds. I used to give her medication twice a day. Now I usually give her the medication only once a day. Sometimes she plays like a puppy, but not often. Never does she gag anymore. I'm glad Tiffany has not failed on medications. I didn't notice the mention of theophylline in your presentation. Theophylline seemed to really help.

Thank you for your EXCELLENT presentation. I lost my beautiful 12 year old female bichpoo
2 weeks ago from Dynamic Trachea and Bronchial collapse. At first her vet said she had congestive heart failure and put her on Vetmedin, furosemide, Trazadone, Enalapril and eventually on Hydrocode/homatropine. Her vet ordered
X-rays and the report showed moderate left heart enlargement, consistent with mitral valve insufficiency, but no signs of congestive heart failure. Between February and March my dog had 3 episodes of acute respiratory distress. Your presentation really helped me to understand my dog’s condition with a collapsed trachea and bronchi and the anatomy of the trachea, lungs, the bronchial branches, etc. My dog couldn’t drink water without coughing. From birth she always would cough after drinking water and as she got older her illness got worse especially in the end. Sadly I had to have my beautiful dog euthanized. She was really suffering from the trachea and bronchial collapse. Moving forward I will read about the various health issues that dogs inherit or are born with BEFORE deciding on which pet to adopt. Thanks again!!

I wish I could just ask this awesome doctor a question. I have a nearly 15 year old pocket beagle. She was just diagnosed with a collapsed trachea last week, but she has had issues swallowing water for a couple of years. I think she had this trachea issue for longer than the doctor knows, but I was told she was just drinking water too fast. So I don’t know for sure how long she has had this condition. At the same time last week, after a X-ray and bloodwork, we found out about the trachea issue and that she has an enlarged liver and the beginning stages of kidney failure. She also has degenerative disc disease and dementia. I am just starting to treat her issues since I just found out about them. I am just concerned about how long she can be kept medicated at her age and how long before I need to consider the bad thing. I am returning to the vet tomorrow and of course will ask her these things, but once I talk to her, should I consider a second opinion or just keep her comfortable as possible, considering her conditions and age. Her quality of life is still pretty good, but she does have the horrific cough…a lot and is not always mentally well. Can’t really ask my vet if I should seek a second opinion. I have lost sleep over this. Pocket beagles life spans are 9-15 years.

I'm getting a second opinion tomorrow. My vet said my dog had stage 3 heart failure. Wrong... the cardiologist said no. And she was who saw the collapsed trachea on the xray my vet took 5 weeks ago! I'm not waiting around. Have a second opinion tomorrow and am looking across the state for a specialist in this area. Heck I might see about going to NY. People who know what they're talking about. My dingus vet just sent paperwork to do surgery after I said no. The cardiologist said she needs diagnostics done pronto. Just like this doctor said there are many varieties. I understand co morbidly as my girl has a heart murmur. If you trust your vet great but most don't have the extra credentials for this and are guessing.....good luck 🍀

Hello, I know this might be a little late but, I have a small dog, and he was diagnosed with a heart murmur about 3-4 months ago he is on meds and like your dogs they did x-rays and also determined he also a collapsed trachea, and now he coughs he is a little older @ 12. Like you I’ve been worried for him and the vet answers also rub me the wrong way, sounds like I should get a second opinion. The only Obstacle is also not rich, and the only way I was able to afford x-rays and other expensive procedures is I have a payment plan that covers a huge proportion of vet visits. I guess your video gave a me hope he lives another 5-7 years

Im giving her soms honey see how well that helps. She just had a teeth cleaning. I thought it was a tooth infection causing the issues lately as she was making chew actions when no food was in the mouth. She is coughing and retching so I think its time to have xrays and a diagnoses official.

First, always check with several holistic veterinarians on CZcams like Karen Becker or Andruw Jones or any other you can find. They will not include ingredients that cause side effects. Do not use any ingredients that your pets or you are not allergic to. You must research every single ingredient for the health of your pet and you.
Trachea collapse is just what it is named after the trachea is made of cartilage. When we get older our body wears out if we need to consume things that will keep up the strength of the body preventing things like arthritis. When you buy remedies for pets you don't really know what's in them because the pets can't tell you that they feel better or worse and there is no governing agent to regulate them. So I do it myself. I base my ingredients on what has worked with others like Karen Becker and Andrew Jones on CZcams. Find out first-hand. Pull up CZcams put in the search trachea collapse Becker. The first thing she says is her name and then goes into explaining what you have searched for. Do the same for Andruw Jones. You should First Look up"food Becker" & food Jones" to see if the kind of food you're feeding your pet is hazardous to their health. For pets and people Glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, three of the main ingredients to strengthen cartilage, look it up so you know first hand. Any and all kibble will destroy health.
