Larry invented slap bass . DUDE is amazing . Legend .
I may be late in responding...FABULOUS by Jehovah’s Grace & Mercy
Larry Graham has outlived and outplayed more outstanding bass players than you can count! Add to that, his great spirit and humble presence.
Amazing for him to last that long and to have that quality in his sound a true bass legend!
Exactly!!! He has the same voice, and can jam that base guitar just as he done so in the 70's.
MASTER!! Had the privilege of seeing him and his band I was dancin’ like a MF for real true legend and pioneer these are the people who should run the music industry!! Just saying 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
funk father on the bass.
LG is a living Legend.
Richard Mccain and he'll live forever

Spring break music is refreshing
Larry is Amazing on Bass Guitar he has Awesome Groove & Awesome Bass playing. I love watching him & learning from Larry - Vernon
It’s so great all these comments about this amazing musician. There couldn’t be enough exclamation points !!!! Or words written in CAPITOL letters to explain our admiration for this man. Larry the fans have spoken.........Funk on Larry we love you.
Larry Graham is a upstanding human being and an OUTSTANDING musician. He has been an influence on how I approach the bass. Thanks Larry, Godfather of Funk!!
Graham on You Tube. That's entertainment.
Gotta give the female vocalist her props. She's filling the shoes of the legendary Patrice Chocolate Banks - heavyass shoes to fill, no doubt. She does a great job here - all night long.
+tim cox I agree. She can hold her own.
Her vocals on I Can't Stand The Rain at 28:30 blow me away. When they slow it down at 31:50 and lead into her super soulful breakdown, I literally get chills. It's just so good.
What is the women name?
What the FUCK! This guy is a destroyer of destruction and I mean that in a good way! Every time he plays a live show he does it like it is his last! RIP to his friend Prince. I will never forget or stop loving you the memories are eternal. Cheers to the music lovers of CZcams .
Sooner or later....everyone knows how outstanding this guy is. A legend doesn’t do justice.
You think he is bad now you should have seen him back in the 70's. No one and I mean no one wanted to come behind him in concert. He would flat turn a concert out. I saw Chic get literally booed off stage after they were the headliner and came on after Graham had literally ripped the floor up.
This guy is The main man! He is the original funk and slap maestro!
I also witnessed Graham several times back in the day. Like you said , NOBODY wanted to follow him. I saw folks walk out on the Ohio Players, The Isley Bros, and he made the Temptations seriously sweat ! It was so severe that some places wouldn't even put his name on the marque ! I saw them in some places where in my personal opinion , the sound company would purposely mess with the sound system. The Cow Palace comes to mind when there was a double bill with Tower of Power.
Graham Central Station... What a dynamic group !!!
I can think of a few others who could compete .Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clark, Charlie Mingus Ron carter! I love Larry Graham but he wern't the one & only!!!!
Truly great. Such a treat to see this show.
All my living I have never heard a base player play so elequently and soulful and funk all in one. Larry Graham is truly one of a kind. I wonder does U.S. give him this much recognition as the wonderful people of Paris and Europe? If not. They should!!!!
Best live show I've seen in awhile!
Now this is the kind of music I jammed to in the 1970's! Just jamming and dancing and having fun!! Larry ya'll gotta come out here to Los Angeles, California!!! I was feeling bad because of family personal problems, and I came across Graham Central Station Wednesday August 19, 2020 at 11:46am Long Beach, CA.

MY GUYS!!! I Know and Love each one of these guys in the band. Great Guys, and Girl, And Great Musicians! SLAM BROS!!! Of Course Larry Graham is Awesome!!!
larry graham you're the best. keep on rockin.
Wow! I don't know if Sly would have ever had that funk without Larry Graham
That was really nice he got down there to be in the center of his fans, Larry Graham. Singers today don't even want you to smile at them or say hi (Kenye West) to their fans and he is just one of the singers in this 21st generation today. (not picking on him).
WOW! Great footage, wish I was there. Thanks for sharing
Me too! That whole group is tough!
My Fav 1976 Lakeland Civic center. Popped from the stage in place & played insanely GREAT

My inspiration
The song "JAM!!!" Is the bomb!!!!
No hay ningún mexicano escuchando este idolooo? Este men es lo más cool! Y tambien los demás.
Se cagan con les 30 años después?
Detroit, 1978. We were there when the trucks got to Masonic Temple. The crew let us help unload the gear from the truck; in return we got to see the concert for free. Booker T & The MGs didn't show up to open. GCS played from 7:30 til midnight. Larry did "Earthquake" like Hendrix on bass. One of the best concerts I've ever seen.
merci
Heaven!
you are an excellent musician
España.spain
Think I saw Larry at the wax museum once in London, didn't have the gut to ask though... I so regret it xD. He's the man !
AMEN!
enfin un slap bass chant.Bravo.
Mark King singer & bassist with UK rock, pop, funk, jazz fusion group Level 42 (their prime 1980s-early 90's imho ) credits Larry Graham with inventing the hand slapping bass playing technique . The story is that Graham invented it when sly & family stone were just forming . They had no drummer so Larry invented it and employed it to give the early band a percussive sound when they were rehearsing, playing small club gigs and yet to record . Mark King said the same thing when Level 42 was just starting and had no drummer ... It was long ago, can't remember the records, but i do remember Larry Graham making some beautiful adult genre solo love songs in his natural, deep, clear bass - baritone voice . It was refreshing because so many singers were singing so high it got irritating from the late 60s thru the 1980s . Graham"s solo hit love songs remind me of American Songbook days: Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Hartman , and the rest
Man did they get down here! You need to come to Long Beach, CA!!!
💜💜💜💜💜
What a great funky shit! great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Seoul,Korea......Dynamic bass slapping !.....Exciting funky groove !....Though 68s 2years ago, Larry Graham in symbolized natty his every all white-colored stage costumes with nice fashion sense.....dynamic his bass thumb slapping, exciting rhythm touch, masculine varitone voice and rocking footwalk riding the funky rhythm in full passion.... are not so changed at all except to aged somewhat his outward looks....." the creator of bass thumb slapping"...funk machine...Good Luck, L.Graham!!!
You said it allllllll right there!!!!
Don't let Almeggedon catch you sleepin!!!!! Mannnn...the end of this song is the bomb!!!!!!!
His foot work and dance is tooooooo much!!!!!
WoW!!! Tge end when he dropped to his knees made me wanna cry!!!
Will NEVER forget seeing GCS in the 70's in DC - Carter Barron Amp. before the 1st album even dropped.
After that year and year after year at Cap Center the legendary shows opening for Sly Stone - No Show night.. GCS & TOP or
GCS Headliners -- spot on showmanship, power, funky and FUN.
The original band give or take the changes at drummer for those magic albums 73~78 - kicked ass.
CZcams if you could only shows some of the those times..
So glad we still have Mr. Graham.
RIP Robert Butch Sam
RIP Willie Wild Sparks
RIP Gaylord Flash Birch
RIP David 'Dynamite' Vega
Give me Patrice Chocolate Banks over my biscuits any day.
Play on Hershall "Happiness" Kennedy
Who is this? yea I remember that show thats when you could afford to go to a concert and have a good time. You think I'd pay 1200 to see someone today. Not Bruce, Beyonce or nobody whoever does is a dam fool. Back in the day 20 bucks you would see 3 top performers. 1200 for one come on now
James jamerson....Stanley Clark, Larry graham, Bootsy collins, Johnson brother, these guys were born to play BASS!
I GIVE props to THE ultimate shread fam...> Jaco Pastorius. .GETTY Lee, JOHN Entrwhistle, John Paul Jones. IT just rolls so deep on an on....... !!!!

Yes they’re great but Tommy Cogbill stands above them all on the bass.

This is lady is invited to the BBQ singing with Larry! No Joke! ❤
!
So funcky live à Prince of music!!! Let's dance together
Awww Larry Graham is sooo happy and flustered. ALL ABOARD!!! ALL ABOARD!! GRAHAM CENTRAL STATION!!! I LOVE IT BECAUSE MY NIECE'S AGES ARE OUT THERE, AGE 17 AND 19, AWWW.
