About Me:
Hi! I'm Janice, and I'm a professional nerd. I've been a tutor for 5 years, and I tutor both in person and online over video chat. Also in the process of creating online educational courses 📚
I teach teens how to score higher on the SAT and ACT college entrance exams on reading, writing, science, and math. I've had over 200 students and over 1,000 teaching hours! 💯
I tutor all levels of math from elementary school all the way up to 12th grade and some college level math 💻
I also help with writing engaging and unique college application essays ✏️
I love teaching and problem solving, so I started this channel to share my "nerd-iness" with more people. Thanks for joining me on this journey and being a part of the Sharp Cookie community! 🍪

I've been a kinesthetic learner my entire life. Never knew how to maximize my learning retention until now. Thank you so much!

I’m not kinetic, but three of my kids are. Great reminders to act things out, practice them. I’m looking forward to checking out more on your channel.
Wow, 3 kinesthetic kids! You must have an active household, haha! How old are they?
Love this advice - going to use these tips with my nephews. Thanks for sharing
Glad you can use it with your nephews! What traits did you recognize in them?
Wow! I really like this style of learning. This would have definitely been ideal for when I was in school. I think I’ll try and get some groups going in the future - finished school but I am still a student ✨
Sweet! I have a video coming out next week on my best studying advice for kinesthetic learners, which I think will be perfect for you 😉 One of the tips is definitely to form groups! It's all about how to retain more information.
Thank you for your advise!!! Wonderful ideas that I will share. Have a great day!

I've been a kinesthetic learner my entire life ,but I only found out today that I was one. All my life I thought that I was a verbal learner ,but after watching you video's , this one in particular opened my eyes .Thank you so much !
So cool!! You're welcome! 😉
This was great! I don't know anyone that is a Kinesthetic learner but now I know how to help them learn..
They're usually the people that have no problem fixing your laptop or car or sink. It's like they tinker around, and it's fixed. They also can be very crafty, always making things. And some are natural athletes. The ones that can play 3 different sports really well.
YES!! Several of my kiddos learn best this way. Great video =)
Awesome! Have a video on study tips for kinesthetic learners coming out next week ;)
Wow, that was really interesting! Thank you for this.

Really interesting! I have a kinesthetic learner in my family this is really helpful.
Awesome! So glad it helped! I don't have one in my immediate family, but I've definitely had students that were kinesthetic learners. I've already filmed a video on study tips for kinesthetic learners, so that'll be up soon as well! ;)
I didn't know about kinesthetic learners. I feel like I am one because I learn a lot better when I perform an action rather than seeing it. Thanks for sharing😊
You're welcome! Thanks for watching. I'm coming out with a new video soon on study tips for kinesthetic learners. What is your career path? Usually kinesthetic learners are drawn to hands-on type careers where they're building or designing or fixing or creating.
Thanks again, Teach 💗💗💗

Cool! 😀👍
Yes
I have adhd and found out that Im a kenesthetic/ visual learner. After 14 yrs of off and on college I finally got my BS. I still need to take 2 medical classes to apply for the medical field for my masters in Occupational therapy.
I diffenitly like coloring things when doing anatomy and working with other studying. Writing on the dry eraser board helpes me move. I have a sit to stand desk but when my adhd kicks in with hyper focus, I tend to study for hrs at a time and feel like I didn't learn anything. I have an alarm but some times want to "finish" something or keep studying because I dont have much time to study. I take care of my 3 yr old daughter thriughout the day so I study at night...anywho. i need to really oull away to take an active break or burn out.

How do we know what our learning style is?
Good question! I'm going to come out with videos on the other types, but usually you can tell what you are by listening to the description and deciding that it sounds like you. Kinesthetic learners need to be "doing" in order to learn, and they have the hardest time in traditional classrooms where there's a lot of sitting and listening.
I got benefit ❤❤❤
😊😊
Hello! your video is interesting. I would like to ask you how would you teach languages to a kinesthetic learner at home?
That's a great question! I would incorporate a lot of play acting. So I would create pretend scenarios like going to the grocery store or ordering at a restaurant or meeting someone new at a party, and I would converse and play act with the student. Depending on the age of the student, they might also find it fun to dress up and use props. The other thing I would do if you want to practice vocabulary or conjugating verbs is toss or kick something back and forth like a ball or bean bag. You would say the word in English while throwing the ball, then the student would catch the ball and say it in the foreign language as they toss or kick it back. You can easily make more rules to this like every time they mess up the word, they have to take a step back from you. If you give me the age of the student, I can probably give you a few more ideas, hope that helps!
@@SharpCookie I have a statement to get better at being good at video games like how can I do it as a kinesthetic learner
I am trying to learn Chinese right now, what tips do you have specifically for language learning?
Verbal learners and auditory learners tend to have an easier time learning languages. Check out my verbal learning video. In a few days I'll be posting the auditory learner video, and I think that will have some helpful tips that you can apply to learning languages. I'll put it on my list to do a specific video just for study tips related to languages. And good for you for studying Chinese! I hear that's one of the most difficult languages to learn.
@@SharpCookie Thank you so much! You are so awesome

Kinesthetic learner 💪

How does a kinesthetic learner learn a new word, especially in foreign language? Thanks :)
Thanks God! I found your video. I have 7 yo daughter. She is kinesthetic visual learner and suffering to read textbook. In my country, 7 yo should’ve reading 😢 her memory skills are very good, but she is not interested with reading a long text and mathematic. She likes drawing so much. How can I teach the kinesthetic learner for reading? I would be gratefull if you reply my comment or maybe I can contact you in personal (by email). Many thanks! Greetings from Indonesia!
She should definitely be reading by 7yr old. Talk to her teacher about this as soon as possible. Also, you should get your daughter tested for possible learning disabilities, so if she needs extra resources at school she can get it. There might also be a physical issue with her vision or hearing---get her testing for this as well. The sooner you figure out why she is delayed, the better! Then you can find her the proper tools and resources.
How can I teach to my students passive voice! They are kinesthetic. I have to teach products! For example the rice is produced in china. Rice will be the products in this case. But if you can help me I will be really grateful!
What age group do you teach?
i wish you could come to my school!!
Where do you go to school?
@@SharpCookie chislehurst school for girls in sidcup, london

I feel like I know so many people I can share this video with!! I found this topic so interesting!
@@HeatherHutmacher-oy4hu Yes totally agree, movement and taking breaks is great for everyone! What do you teach?
@@LaurenHebert8 Wow! Thanks so much for sharing! Yes it can be a total game changer when you understand how to become better at learning new things ;) I'm more of a visual learner, but we are all a mix of different styles.
@@Billwilderment This is so great to hear! It really helps when we understand ourselves better and how we learn new information!
Can you update due to COVID and I’m also an introvert
Great suggestion, thank you!
No but my son is
This is funny. Most people that I know claim to be a visual learner. I don’t know any kinesthetic learner except for myself.
Oh wow, that's interesting! I definitely come across all the types when I'm tutoring and coaching.
I’m not. But my son is.
