Incredible set list...they hit it out of the park...I saw them 21 March 2014...the forum in LA...epic show...KOL is the real deal...one of the last true talents in music..

This was a LONG time ago; they were still young and wild here, they were still underground here, their music and shows a gorgeous punk old school rock and roll tinged shambling right on the edge of out of control bonfire, amped on coke and testosterone, and reveling in their youth and young manhood, burning stages to the ground 😉 they were glorious. From 2003 (when I discovered them) to around 2007, before the caught on commercially and lost a little of that pure raw we all loved about them, no other rock bands could touch them. They were McFearless and pure fire flowed in their veins. Because of the Times and Aha Shake Heartbreak will forever be my favorite KOL albums. They’re a pure injection of holler roller Novocain perfection.
Tho their live DVD LIVE AT THE O2 from 2008/09 was awesome and made those Only By The Night songs 100x dirtier and raunchier and it was an epic set list.
They are a really good band. They been so successful, and it's taken for granted, but that kind of chemistry is so rare. There is no way that they could have known that Matt and Jared would be so good. Caleb is a top singer and writer. But iMO the real weapon in that band is the drummer. The arrangements are always sparse; down to the bare minimum, but always full of hooks and interesting. "My Party" alone, not one of the big hits, but good bass lines, good drumming; fuzzed vocals. Matt never ever overplays. They don't get enough credit. Once they did 'Sex" they became too big. I do think the writing has gotten a bit stale on last 4 albums. IMO the first 3 albums are 5 stars from front to back. Just noticed: doesn't "Soft" sound a bit like "Valerie"?
