Trickshot is a great choice. I think a lot of people underestimate it because they don't undestand the math behind it. At rank 10, the 24% reduction is equivalent to 31.5% more channeling duration (1 / (1 - 0.24)). Put it an in awakened slot for 34% consumption reduction, and your channeling time is now increased by 56%. This is massive. This gem becomes stronger the more you can stack channelling reduction with awakened slots.

@@markbubb9902 awakened gems are gems you can put other gems into make your resonance bigger but the bad thing about awakening gems is it's a pay offer, you can't do it f2p it's something you have to pay real world money
So does pain clasp work with poision from bile as fake dusent explain continues as there’s two sets one for continual and one for damage over time also but aren’t burn poision effects continues and dot damage ?
The gems I have on my barb for pve are, blood-soak, the lightning one, trickshot, master/command... with these gems alone, I have a Whirlwind that times at 26 seconds, whereas the normal ones time is 11 or so seconds... trickshot is insane with a rank 8 giving over 20% reduction to channel skill time usage...
Tricksot is nice for sure and I would say essential even for a whirlwind barb in pve. Not only do I have it rank 10 which gives me 24% reduced energy consumption, I also have my main hand (bitterwind), and chest (gatherer/ferocious gale) both awakened with a rank 10 gem socketed in them. Each of these awakened slots give me 10% more reduced energy consumption. All together I have 44% and it's amazing.
Should also note that if you have a lot of increased attack speed, that also consumes energy faster on channeled skills. I still run out of energy a lot when I'm farming. Tricksot is definitely a necessity.
@@WhyTry321 Aye, at 44% reduced energy consumption you can channel the skill for 78% longer than base. It is awesome, can confirm.
I am curious to hear how you feel with less resonance, but more beneficial gems.
I did that two weeks ago. In my case I was using all of them like food. I’m not a spender so no point to lvl up 3* 5* gem. It will never go happen for me.
I agree with the zerk gem swap since it's persistent But I'm not a fan of bottled hope like he suggested. It's a time based buff and only pops when you buff yourself and ONLY one EVERY 20 seconds. That's the killer for me. Pain clasp and zerk and ferv fang. I personally love ES when you match it with summon dmg increase reforges and such.
The thing about bottled hope is that its a 5 star gem allowing for more resonance, AND has a damage multiplier. Not to mention it's secondary effect reduces all skill cooldowns.
It would definitely be better if it wasn't just once every 20 seconds, but with 2pc vithus and beneficial effect duration reforge stats, this effect is up for about 10 seconds out of every 20. Even in the 50% downtime though, it's still a 5* gem with a lot of resonance that gives you a flat damage boost.
I do not care resonance. I prefer to use gem effects.

To be pvp top player, resonance is important. If you are playing just for fun like me. Go for a gem effects on what skill you are using.
5 star gem if you are serious about PvP for the resonance. 1-2 star gem if you are casual player and really don’t wanna invest thousands of dollar into the game.
Good plan for low spenders. Ditching howlers call was a great move. I still love my echoing shade though.
Good idea. Unless you can really invest in 5* 1 and 2 will get you better damage.
And I'm not talking resonance. Resonance can be countered with proper knowledge of the damage formula in DI.
Just so you know, Ironbane is an Armor Break and won't stack with other Armor Breaks.
Pain Clasp, Mother's Lament, Berserkers Eye (best gem in the game). Trickshot sounds good on paper but it's very very iffy. Put Howlers back instead of that Trickshot.
If you do want a utility 1*, Blessed Pebble is extremely strong for Barbs (and everyone).
Also Howlers is actually really good for PVP and is up there with BSJ.
It’s about time you swap to non 5 star gems. Too many content creators were promoting 5 stars to a bunch of people who will never whale. So a lot of low-mid spenders ended up wasting their time, money, material. F2P players def felt the sting the most if they wasted their materials on 5 stars. I’m a low spender that used a whole bunch of 5 stars as food months ago and never looked back since Pain Clasp came out I got that to 10 and awakened 5 slots. I’m always top damage in raids and wars vs mid spenders to whales. This include my f2p barb as well that is not even 1k res. Just because I know which gems to use and what non cookie cutter essence to use to min max damage.

Felt so good watching you crunch that howlers, lol. Unfortunately, to really go all in on this, probably have to do the same to the echoing shade and Phoenix just to get that gem power out of them. Great start here though, it's looking good bud!
Side note, Trickshot will only help whirlwind last longer. I know I also talked to you about the blessed pebble, that's the gem that would make sprint and wrath last longer as well. 2 different gems there though.
Not sure who needs to hear it, but having alts to farm plat is crucial for f2p. Hidden lairs, wb crest voucher, bonus ember cap. daily sellable gems from 4 party accursed tower farm if you have the time. With 3 alts I am selling 4 2* gems daily max price @8k plat each. Buy 4 more 2* and repeat.
That’s 15-17k profit daily plus you keep your sellable gems on main

My lv10 pain clasp is sitting at 24% increased damage. It’s so worth going after. Mothers lament is 20% crit chance increase at LV10
32% crit chance at rank 10
I have preached over and over about the streangth of 1* gems. Then once you have all your slots filled with lv10 gems then look at 2* gems and level a few if those to lv10. Then after that look at 5 star gems. Just the awakening you get from 1* and 2* gems makes them worth it. My 2* lv 10 are mothers lament and pain clasp. Then I’m running mocking laughter at lv10 whick procs my chip of the stone for 6 sec every time I use my primary attack.

Just by chance I did the exact same thing this morning! I traded my rank 4 3/5 echoing shade for a Pain Clasp and upgrades for my Mothers Lament. I immediately feel so much stronger in general gameplay, very little trade off in reso for a high upgrade in damage. No regrets here! (My other gems are gloom, hope, bile, Zwensons, zerker, fervent fang)

looking good as a low spender, I myself too taking all your advice to apply to my gameplay too, I'm from Izual asia server by the way and still new server, the thing is my server was being infested with players from "Old Server" with 5k+ resonance, yeah its a pain in clan war and also to our current immortals, Fair? obviously not, hope blizzard realize that allowing players from old server with high resonance transfer and compete other players that was just started to play.

Echoing shade is garbage. I always scrap those for gem power. Replace trick shot with BOTTLED HOPE. Bottled hope is non negotiable.
Bottled hope is good for a barb for sure, but Trickshot is also a necessity in pve. What good does it do you to stack more damage if you run out of energy and can't even deal damage?
At this time when echo has pretty slim gem power and platinum already, it doesn't pay to go for bottled hope. Can only get it to rank 2 before needing a duplicate for next rank, and that just isn't going to be comparable to being able to whirlwind all day with a rank 10 trickshot which is very easily obtainable too.
@@WhyTry321 B hope in my opinion is better. WW isn't the only skill to use to kill monsters. When you run out of channeling energy use normal attacks until its back to full.
@Sals-Clips yea personally I use both. I dropped berserkers for bottled hope and still use trickshot. And yes you still have primary attack when energy runs out but that just can't even compare to the damage output of whirlwind.

@@WhyTry321 I actually don't play barb. I've always played Crusader but I use the "Karawan's Catch" enchant that gives me a WW like channeling attack. I also forget that most people use the same cookie cutter builds that everyone else uses. I myself have my own setup. But that's the cool thing about the game, there's all kinds of play styles and equipment for everyone.
@Sals-Clips that's fair. I'm sure there are plenty of viable builds for crusader out there. But for barb, it's spin 2 win. I will say I don't use trickshot in pvp, but it is a necessity in pve.
I take back all negative things I've said about the game and formally apologize. So I was stuck at 760 gem res for about 5 months and p799 for about a week spent 5 dollars on an orb pack bought a couple eternal legendary crest and pulled 2 unbound 4/5 star gems frozen heart and star fire I used the frozen heart for food cus it didn't sell even when I lowered the price buy 125k Plat now I'm right under 1k gem res baby wings soon and I'm now stuck at 821 and now am higher then the server Para level red exp arrow down and red exp bar 😂 finally joined a clan and wb for the first time and now I feel like I can truly play the game any mode pvp or pve and not worry my cr went from low 14k to almost 20k finally my gems are two 1 star chained death rank 9 and everlasting torment rank 8 five 2 star gems all rank 4 fev fang pain clasp power and command lighting core and mother's lament and last gem is rank 1 4/5 star 🌟 🔥 just wanted to say thanks Echo keep it up
Echoing shade is too uniquely good. I hear when u upgrade past lvl 7, the shadows can do more than just simple attacks

That resonance did take a hit…. But I think its actually more realistic and easier for low and mid spenders. I’ll do the same and replace some of my 5 stars since they are harder to upgrade
Funny part is after crunching his other 5 star gems he replaced and upgrading the 3 new ones with that gem power, he's now at about the exact same 1600 resonance. So literally gave up nothing to gain increased damage and utility, and now has a realistic chance of getting rank10 and can awaken for even more bonuses.

How about Bless Pebble instead of trick shot?
It increases the Duration of beneficial effects.😅
Early on, pebble is indeed very helpful. That extra beneficial effect duration allows you to keep sprint and wrath of the berserker up 100% of the time. So while the gem itself doesn't add any damage for you, it effectively does still because there's no downtime between casts of sprint and wrath. However, if you're using hells legacy shoulders for the fire trail sprint and have that slot awakened with a rank 10 gem in it, that will reduce sprints cooldown 10%. You can also get up to 3% beneficial effect duration as a reforge stat on all 8 pieces of primary gear. I have enough with this to keep my sprint and wrath up 100% already so pebble just isn't necessary.
I actually advised echo to use blessed pebble too, though. Lol. I wouldn't say in place of trickshot, as that's a necessary utility gem for whirlwind barb. If you need pebble, probably drop berserkers eye for it.

Been addicted to this game. I just hope they add more ways to get free legendary crests more often rather than just one a week !
Started recently and after realising the game is heavy pay to win, I think blizzard already made enough money to start giving things with the game for f2p players.
Basically every event gives a lego crest, can get 400 fading embers from elder rifts weekly to craft another, legendary Accursed tower chests can reward a lego crest (and typically do at least once a week), can buy 1 eternal and 1 bound lego crest from npc every week with 1600 platinum each (easily obtainable even as f2p), and can buy 1 eternal crest from hilts vendor once a month.
Honestly still feel like I'm forgetting a few. It is still heavily p2w, not arguing that, but even f2p can advance if you play.

@pp4483 1 stars go for about 600-700, 2 stars around 2500, little more like pain clasp/mothers lament/ironbane, 5 stars are roughly 30k. Some of the better ones like bsj and seeping bile of course still 50k or 60k+

I would get rid of the phoenix ashes and use it as food. Keep the echoing shade. As high levels it is pretty useful. Howlers call is not great. Worth keeping as backup but also you can use it as food. Bottled hope is essential for your hero. Blessing of the worthy also has reduce damage at higher level and uses health as a damage guide.
Lol idk why this guy keeps pushing for 1-2 star gems when 5stars are better for over all power gains in the end regardless especially 3 out of 5 5 star or higher I’d rather an all round bonus of +40% dmg unscrew then a 10% on a specific skill…
