Finally someone said what I've been saying for years. The best paint is respraying over a cured new finish.

Back in the day I had a collection of build sheets...mostly Chryslers but some GM as well...I used to see sheets as clean as that alot...but it being a Ca car from its plates it's sheet fared very well. I'm a numbers guy too...i can't rattle them off like Mark or Tony but I like things correct on the cars too.
    A great episode all around.

I found the build sheet in a GTO i once owned (67). The sheet was on top of the fender liner hidden behind a port hole, nice and dry and clean. The car was in excellent condition, even the metallic blue paint, less motor. Purchased it for $300 back in the 70's. My pop criticized me so much, I resold it for the same $300. Thanks dad. Not really...wish I had it today.

I love this show and the knowledge mark has on these cars is incomprehensible. He truly is an encyclopedia of knowledge on the 60’s through today’s Chrysler Corp vehicles. Everything on this show is awesome except wills painting. I’m not a fan of panel painting like he does. I’m a walk the car I’m a robot when I paint. I paint even lines throughout the whole vehicle. When will Paint’s he paints a panel at a time giving that overspray on the next panel time to dry and creating a high spot giving those long panel spots a darker hew down the side of ea panel. So when I take a paint thickness measurement it will be thicker down ea panel end but thinner on the rear of the panel. It’s amateur to paint like that. When you walk the length of the car/truck starting from the top of the furthest corner and walk while spraying that whole line in a robotic movement then 50/50 overlapping on ea walk you get a very clean organized even coating throughout the whole job. Much more professional and overall better product.

Used to be that when you got a 68 the headlights which would always be broken headlights would not open and close and then 69 they made the switch better so it wouldn't break while it operates the vacuum switch I changed a lot of those

I think the stripe is too high. They measured the top of the stripe at 1" on the old car, but then aligned the bottom of the new stripe to the inch marker. Also, the stripe below the 440 looks to be farther from the body crease than on the old car.

Likely special order. That was at the tail end of a time when you could order just about anything you wanted. You just needed to check the correct option box and show the money. If you couldn't get it factory, you could get it dealer-installed. Case in-point: my dad had a '71 Olds 88. Pretty generic, right? The dealer in Detroit installed for him the W30 motor- at the time available only in the 442. Yes, expensive. But he got what he wanted.

I really wish they would show less of the painter, something about him, with his millennial d-bag hat bill and his knee high socks. He's trying to be so different by being trendy.
