Crafting complete and comfort survival shelter | Bushcraft wood structure, clay roof & twin fireplace

- I imagined this survival shelter to live in peace far from the madness of the cities, here I will cultivate, hunt, fish and improve my hut.
I used dead wood for the structure, earth and stones to build the fireplace and all the natural materials I found around me.
The magic of this forest did the rest.

You have no idea what this does for our imagination. The aesthetics are great. They look like hobbit villages!
I love the fact that you took a simple thing like bushcraft and made it into an art form. I think most of us would stop after laying down the tree branches for our ceilings and call it done lol. I think that’s what made it unappealing for me (at least) until I stumbled upon your videos. You’ve showed us what is possible with the least amount of tools and ingenuity. Now as a consequence I can only imagine bigger and better things to do. With more people too.
I know it’s supposed to be a temporary shelter. Who knows how long these structures will last. But for me i like thinking about the things you can do to expand further. Adding a garden to grow vegetables. Adding more landscaping etc. Or digging deeper for more leg room and expand into tunnels that eventually branches outwards into a tunnel network over time lol. The possibilities! Can always add as much as you want as your creativity allows. I also like how everything acts as camouflage until it starts smoking lol
I can only imagine how many of these “houses” you’ve made along the way with each “abandoned” houses acting as pitstops for your many returns.
have to admit these channels are an absolute goldmine for 3d modelling fantasy woodland environments

But in the end it has to be this way
I’ve carved my own path
You followed your wrath
But maybe we’re both the same

And so many have burned
But nobody is to blame
Yet staring across this barren wasted land
I feel new life will be born

@@Dangerstophe a rainforest soundtrack would be far livelier, as more species live in the rainforest. there are only a few bird calls in the video, so it's not a rainforest soundtrack.
A while back I accidentally came across your videos and now I'm hooked. There's a certain kind of peace and calm watching you build out in the woods with no talking and just the sound of nature. If only I could build one of these for a place to retreat to.

Hey, just a precautionary note to you and anyone else that might read this.
Be VERY careful when heating up rocks, especially those that have been wet such as river stones. Any trapped water inside, once heated can expand and cause the rock to shatter/explode into shards. Ideally you want dry rocks, that have been dry for quite some time. You can also test "heat" them before using them as construction material.
Same thing applies when using hot stones for cooking purposes like is common in some traditional cooking in certain cultures - you really dont want one exploding into small pieces in your large pot of food.
On top of that, rocks can contain toxic chemicals. Heating them up in an enclosed space like that can make the air toxic, especially if they're also wet.
@@peoplez129 Any lightweight multimixed rocks like granite are no0t recomended.
The best are the ones used for Sauna, like quartsite, or in general the stones that have no cracks or "veins" - solid material.

Having to set up a camera for every single shot makes this whole project even more impressive.
I just want to point out not only was this an amazing build but as an aspiring filmmaker I can appreciate all the amount of work it took to get these shots right
That's was my first thought, my second thought was the crazy amount of time it took to dig that out.
It's not that hard
@@donvito5647 bruh.
he either has fk tons of cameras.. or there definitely is a camera team... yea like certain parts have 3 different shots, i kinda find it hard he has the time to be building+setting up shots, the focus and lighting he has tweak every where he go.. so i believe must be camera team.. or I hope the entire build is not staged :(...
@@onedayiwillbegone2366 how can this be staged? It’s his plot of land, he’s not stating it’s primitive technology, instead he describes it as a fun adventure to build stuff.
Friendly reminder not to expose riverstones to a lot of heat, especially not in a fireplace/chimney, because they can blow up!
Why
Riverstones sometimes have water trapped inside them and when exposed to high heat that water is going to transform into steam which in turn causes the stone to expand and blow up, this can also happen to trees and wood
Beat me to it. If you're going to use stones for a campfire/fireplace, you're better off stacking what you get out of the ground/ find laying around.

Can’t get over how how few rocks there are overall in that soil. Everywhere I go and dig is like a rock impenetrable jungle.
Where I live is the same, a few centimeters of soil, followed by nothing but rock :(
Western new york native here. The glacial flats are brutal. The plus side is cobblestone houses are really cool.
Not to mention no roots. I'm kinda cynical about these types of videos. No roots? That land has to have been cleared and cultivated relatively recently, maybe 20 years or so. Also, He has quite a bit of equipment, shovels, saws, machete, that are not seen when he "hikes" into the woods.
My guess is that he's probably a few hundred yards from his house and this was done over a couple of days.

Hello
Hasta podría vivir felizmente en un refugio así jajajaa que hermoso trabajo haz realizado, en verdad tu creatividad me asombra. Por favor sigue realizando estos videos, porque te juro que es como soñar despierto estando en ese lugar. Eres increíble
See there’s a few problems with this build: 1. Rainwater would come in his doorway and soak the floor or even flood it 2. The holes he left open for the view would invite snake and small animals in smelling the food and looking for warmth 3. The river stones when subjected to high heat could potentially blow up. Other than those three it looks great but it would have to be improved on order to be long term liveable
Almost all of these videos have nothing to do with survival. They're fancy wood homes that are not meant to be actually used for more than one night. You're right: This house would turn into a swamp rather quick when it starts to rain. It's just meant to look nice on video. The green decoration will look quite different in 1-2 days, and in 3-5 days it will look like shit - but that's no problem, because... it's just done for the video. Nobody will actually camp there.
@@FabianSchoelzel making it useless
Yep can't get away from the flooding issue making this a great piece of art but not a survival shelter.
WTF... I just watched a bit more because of the replies... what the hell is he doing with the roof? Literally putting plant material between two layers of wet clay? This is going to rot on its own, and it's going to get wet again when it rains, being washed away rather soon. This is ridiculous. The work to survival ratio is absolutely insane.
@@FabianSchoelzel this is a survival shelter; it's meant to get you through a few months, at best, until you build or find something more permanently liveable. Bushcrafting. Everything he's doing is what you can use from the woods to survive for a time.
As far as rainwater drainage, I'm thinking that this floor has been gradually sloped to provide directional runoff. Some shelter builders dig narrow trenches near the walls to run outside for the same purpose.
