    To exist without destroying themselves, alien civilisations probably have to overcome fear, greed and violence. The universe might be filled with peaceful life forms. Violent ones must surely destroy themselves once technologically advanced enough, much like we are on the cusp of doing.

    • @InfiniteSkiegh
      @InfiniteSkiegh Před 9 měsíci

      Not necessarily. If a civilization turns out to be very chauvinistic on a global scale, they could very well not be peaceful at all. 😅
      Humans are generally self domesticating. Meaning over time, we have become more and more docile as our sense of morality evolves and atrocities have plagued our planet. We more than likely will become a generally peaceful society as we spread out into the universe, if we can solve our silly interpersonal squabbles.
      But really all it takes is a few colonial species to make peace a touchy issue on a cosmic scale. I doubt all advanced civilization would be peaceful. Who knows? Maybe why we haven't found anyone. But I doubt all would be violent either. I'd be more realistic and say there's some mix out there, but what percent is violent and what percent is peaceful is a completely different question altogether. 😅

      Nahh these life forms are all transient, who's destroying who? The fact is an asteroid could eliminate the whole planet and even if peace broke out mass extinction would arrive as the weather cycle changed and ultimately the planet is consumed by the sun in time. So the only way to survive would be to travel to another planet buymt that's just pie in the sky, it's not going to happen, no ones moving to Mars. Humans are only supported by short lived conditions on earth and will dissapear forever when those conditions go.

    0:31: 🌌 The search for alien life involves finding and communicating with other civilizations or discovering silence, leading to a realization about our place in the universe.
    4:21: 🌌 The Fermi Paradox suggests that alien civilizations may choose to remain hidden and avoid interstellar contact. Our understanding of intelligence and societal behavior may be limited in the vast cosmic landscape.
    8:36: 🌌 The vastness of the galaxy and challenges in detecting intelligent civilizations make it plausible that advanced alien beings have not yet noticed any indication of our intelligence.
    13:07: 🌌 The existence of intelligent life developing in our universe is unlikely.

    I contend that we are not alone mainly because we have each other. I also believe that the stars and all of the universe was made simply for our viewing but not for us to actually live in it outside of earth. This is very obvious seeing that space is so fatally dangerous to us in every way possible. Our curiosity and perhaps arrogance has driven us to believe that someone else has to be out there.

    • @drVainMD
      @drVainMD Před 2 měsíci

      In other words, a revisit of earth and in turn, us humans, are the center of the universe--a blast from the past! Roasting aside, if something's perceived level of fatality should be used to gauge avoidance--a sort of Kinsey Scale, so to speak, we better hurry up and get the hell off this planet and over to Mars! 70% of our little homestead is out to get us! Crap, that won't work either--we are going to have to digitally upload ourselves to computers. It's the only way! They hate water as much as we should--so they get it! I can't believe we have been living amongst the enemy this entire time! and H20 is wayyyyyyy more deadly than space! It only takes a like teaspoon's worth to do us in, and space takes, well ya know, an entire universe's worth, and it has to be under the right conditions, etc. etc. It's a whole thing. And this proves I'm _NOT_ crazy for thinking every time I close my eyes at night that someone is going to do me in while I'm trying my hand at lucid dreaming--I just didn't know it was my body. Dang! Mind = 🤯 And as always, remember, birds aren't real!

    What if a species advances so much they don’t need the physical realm anymore. They evolve into pure energy?

    • @jedaaa
      @jedaaa Před 8 měsíci +34

      Everything is subject to entropy and decay into disorder, becoming less and less complex, intelligence is a triumph (temporarily) over entropy, the energy would still need some kind of vessel to remain complex enough to retain intelligence. The human brain is the most complex few pounds of matter we know of in the universe, but to remain that way we have to feed it several times a day constantly and when you look at someone through a thermal imaging camera you can see we bleed most of that energy off as heat. So the notion of evolving to become more intelligent by becoming less complex is against all known laws of physics.

    From our own history as humans, we have showed little intelligence when it comes to taking care of our own home and to each other. I'm pretty sure that if there is intelligence in the universe, it probably has gravitated beyond pettiness such as money, power or greed. Beyond the contents of one's character, beyond the physical, beyond the idea of personal growth and development. I'm not sure, but in order to be intergalactic, interstellar or even universally traveled, you have to have better people skills than we currently possess.

I just call it "warp speed" because what I saw was similar to what Hollywood portrays warp speed to look like, except it appeared much faster than Hollywood-created warp speed appears. The instant acceleration and instant stopping I saw was very impressive. If I compared what I saw to the rockets leaving Vandenberg Air Force Base (now, Vandenberg Space Force Base), the rockets would the snail and the UFO would be the Hare trying to get to the finish line first.
      What amazes me are the assumptions people make without asking me, for example, someone once said I saw Venus. I've seen Venus for decades and what I saw was no Venus. What I saw was not just me alone, so I knew I wasn't dreaming, and so forth. I am a teetotaler, so I wasn't on drugs or alcohol. I was 21, and still had perfect 20/20 vision.

    At 4:46 you say, _we must embrace the diversity of potential alien behaviors, acknowledging that our understanding of intelligence and societal behavior might just be one of countless possibilities in the vast cosmic landscape._
    I find this particularly interesting because we can't even offer that to others of our own kind. Who for all intents and purposes are near carbon copies of ourselves. What makes _ANYONE_ think we will somehow be able to achieve this for a completely alien life form? We won't. Ask any of the Northern White Rhinos left in existence how well we do with accepting others. Oh wait, there aren't any. This leads me to the conclusion that IF we encounter an intelligent alien life form out there, it will almost necessarily be the version of science fiction and the one who occupies the darkest corners of our fears. If an alien race is intelligent enough to overcome interstellar travel, has the technology to perform such travel, all while remaining undetected by and essentially invisible to us, things which we can only suggest in theory, and are yet to demonstrate in the physical world, then they are hundreds or thousands of years ahead of us, evolutionarily and technologically speaking. If they have observed us for any amount of time, and we have to assume that they certainly would have before making their presence known, they know my original statement to be true, but have accepted the associated cost and deem it necessary to accomplish a task.
    They know there is little to no benefit of attending a galactic block-party style meet-and-greet, bringing with them a bowl of their civilization's most popular technology and a side of their science's revolutionary breakthroughs to share with the attendees. Especially when those in attendance can't even master civility and acceptance of others in their same species, with less than a percentage point of genetic difference between them, let alone other species they are well familiar and with whom they cohabitate a planet; they would correctly assume a life form so literally 'other' that it's unfathomable to us, would have no hope remaining in good, neighborly standing. They know better than to bring a bag of party favors that will be then used against them. So for any life form even a fraction more intelligent than we are, perhaps a few tiny percentage points on paper, but with gargantuan implications in practice, they would know that not interacting with us is the only viable route.
    So their task? The reason to make themselves known? Glad you asked--to wipe us out.
    They know revealing themselves brings great risk, they would have observed that we are a conflict driven and violence-prone species, and we won't go down without a major fight. Hell, even if they came with the best intentions and with a plate of cookies, we'd still throw literally everything we possibly could at them, even to our own demise. This too they would know. They would also have to know that their campaign would be successful, because if they fail, all other intelligent life forms out there are then at major risk. I mean, common, we dumped every resource we had into, tapped the greatest minds to solve, made up a whole bunch of new shit and hoped it would work, and pushed technological advancement forward at speeds never seen before, all so we could give Russia the finger from the surface of the moon! Can you even imagine what hellfire we would create if we _KNEW,_ not guessed, not thought, not theorized, but *KNEW* other intelligent life was out there, which based on the recently failed attempt, are just waiting for the next opportunity to come kick our collective ass??!
    So to recap, they know we are violent and will wipe ourselves out in an attempt to take them out (because eff moderation, and we are humans). They know we hold a grudge like a son-of-a-b**ch! No matter what we told our sis-in-law at last year's family vacation, when she let slip our little college experiment with our freshman roommate--even though it was only one time, just to see how it felt, they know we ABSOLUTELY have not forgiven, and will CERTAINLY never, ever forget!! So they best come correct! Once again, highlighting what appears to be a theme, of how violent and destructive we are. But given they flew millions of light years, a mere jaunt from their point of reference, and that they calculated the resources expended to hop in their version of the family station wagon for a little weekend getaway as acceptable, just to come open a can of whoop-ass, there's really little question as to the odds of their attack being successful. AND while remaining totally out of sight, even with billions of us assuming the role of Gladys the nosey neighbor, keeping journals and recording anything that goes on outside our proverbial window, I might add.
    The reason _WHY_ they would assume the risk, make the journey, expend the resources?
    To shut us the hell up. By comparison to every other planet in the known universe, this one with the violent, grudge-holding, resource-wasteful, with an apparently STRONG ideation to self-delete, classic victim of the Dunning-Kruger effect hairless apes on it, makes an ungodly amount of noise! (See what I did there?) We are constantly stepping up to a megaphone and screaming out into the void, "Here! I'm right here! Come hang out! Where is EVERYONE?! Is this thing even on?! Answer me, dammit, I'm human!! I'm the coolest thing since, well... ever!!" Their desire to silence born either:
    A. Out of their own self-preservation (think Dark Forest Theory), and they happened to get pinned down near another player who has a terminal case of can't-shut-the-hell-up and risks taking them down with him, when his ruckus gets him discovered and eliminated. So they take a small risk of being discovered now, in order to eliminate a massive, ongoing risk and ensure they can remain hidden long term.
    A(i). They see us as becoming a threat to them in the future. Not out of technical prowess or anything like that. Remember, they are centuries ahead of us at worst, and millennia at best, viewing the Kardashev Scale as something cute, that they remember achieving when they were a kid, like a scout merit badge for knots or assisting the elderly. We would be a threat to them only in our ignorance. Something we didn't/don't know about arising as a consequence of us throwing the mother of all cosmic tantrums--wiping ourselves out (no big loss there) but also some of the unseen neighbors around us too.
    Or B. This particularly stupid, yet self-important hairless primate, is just _that_ guy. The acutely obnoxious new neighbor--the one who suddenly came into scads of wealth (you heard it was from being a CZcamsr--whatever _THAT_ is) and used his new fortune to purchase a mansion in the ritzy part of the universe, consequently foisting himself upon you and the other educated, cultured, worm-hole setting, if not a little snobbish, upper crust of the Galactic One Per Centers, who are part of "old money" so to speak. And to your credit, you have been MORE than patient! You've put up with his petty wars, his self-aggrandizement and utter lack of consideration for anything or anyone around him, his obscene wastefulness, constantly pissing everything he has away and no plan for retirement, even when you have offered quiet nudges--little hints at what direction he should be taking, he just flat ignores you! It's like they say, you can take the species out of the local group ghetto, but you can't take the white-trash out of the species! And now, finally you've had enough of this hillbilly imposter and his constant crappy loud music! So given that your wife's brother is best friends with the Galactic Police Chief _AND_ being an elite, should things go sideways (not unlike the whole situation with you and your cousin mucking around on Betelgeuse, sending it toward going super-nova), you can just make a political donation to have it all disappear.
    So you dawn your finest black attire, including the softest of cashmere turtleneck, charcoal grey calf-skin leather gloves--don't want to leave any prints, and a black knee-high stocking, and you head out to accomplish the task. Arriving sooner than expected, you take a couple deep breaths, and.... you knock on the front door of the cottage at the back of your estate. Making sure you keep a few feet distance between you and the man that opens the door, because he's _just_ a gardener, and you give him the gruesome chore. (What? You didn't think this rich jerk was going to wipe us out himself, did you?? Much like our own "elite" here on earth, he too is utterly worthless and doesn't actually bring value to society, he just exploits those who have no choice in the matter, and profits from their value. But I admire your altruistic inclinations, even if more than a tad naive.) So after you instruct the worker to make it look like an accident and to wipe down the entire place after to erase any possible prints, you turn to leave, mentioning that you and the lady of the house will be spending a few weeks aboard your yacht--The Stellar Winds, in the Horse Head nebula and will be out-of-pocket. OH! And you almost forgot the stocking. You hand it to him, wearing the gloves of course, asking him to please make sure his wife adds it to the laundry for the Misses.
    And there you have it. the only reason an alien life form would elect to show themselves to us. To preserve themselves and bring peace and serenity and most of all, quiet to the galactic neighborhood once again.

      Best not to get sentimental about this. We are the only intelligent life, so far. Nearly Every so-called alien species has 2 eyes, 2 arms, 2 legs, this is logically impossible. Even spiders don't have 2 eyes.
      Now we have this? what are we going to do now? destroy ourselves or advance to other planets, hopefully the latter.

    I just gave this response to someone else on here but I'll put it for everyone to see...
    Well like the channel just iterated either we are alone in the universe or we are not BOTH are equally terrifying... The OBSERVABLE universe is approximately 98 1/2 billion light-years in radius. ( although it's most likely infinite, jus goes on forever in ALL directions) A light-year is a unit of distance NOT time... 1 light-year is about 6 trillion miles.. photons travel about 168,000 Miles a second.. FAST... BUT considering how big the universe is it's very VERY slow.. it takes light 8 minutes to go 96 million miles ( the distance our Star Sol is from us. ) the next nearest Star to us is Proxima Centauri 4 1/4 light-years away or about 26 trillion miles.. The Milky Way is about 100,000 light-years in diameter and Andromeda the closest galaxy to us is about 2,500,000 light-years away... It's so big that if it were visible to us the same way that the moon is it would span the diameter of 6 full moons side by side.. despite the fact that it's 2,500,000 light-years away.. meaning that when we do look at it with our sensitive telescopes like the Hubble telescope or the JWST ( James Web Space Telescope) we're seeing it as it was 2,500,000 years ago... It's also on a collision course wit ours and will merge to become The Milkdromeda galaxy. If it DOES go on forever then it has to start repeating at some point because there are a finite number of particles and a finite number of ways they can be arranged. Just like it the U.S. everyone has a Social Security number because there are ONLY 10 numbers that exist 0123456789. Digets is what matters. 9 digets in a social and 10 numbers that exist so with that you'll get around 1 billion combinations.. so we've used around like 33% or something like that.
    There are also a infinite number of parallel universes an infinite number of you doing anything and everything the same and different.. which means Mr or Ms Infinityc702 in an infinite number of universes YOU are the president, in other universes YOU'RE the one whom invented the TV.. LITERALLY EVERYTHING you can and can't think of exists Somewhere out there... This isn't a guess either.. it's scientific fact.. remember scientific theory is different from I have a theory.. theory of gravity is real... You don't need to not believe in gravity for yourself to fall if you walk off a cliff or something... It's not like the cartoons were the coyote only falls once he realizes he's no longer standing on solid ground... You'll fall regardless of how much you believe you can fly. If we really are alone than Dayum... No one else is out there but us... Then again ANY other life-forms out there would MOST LIKELY be synthetic not organic like us seeing as how not too many people reading this will live to see 1 million hours.. 8,736 hours in a year... So multiply that by how many years you are and you'll see just how old you aren't...

    Around the 11:00 mark, give or take, the voice of the narration posits that the chances of sophisticated life evolving may not be that high; I don't have too much of an opinion on that, not being particularly educated or informed in that way; something I do think about though, is how "the pursuit of sentience" in essence, is a confluence of progress made. For example, what keeps a whale from using 'greater' technology than it already does? I think its bodily form, would in large part.

    The problem with all these hypothesis is that it doesn't take into consideration we live in a time paradox everything we see in outerspace is in the past so the universe could be teaming with signs of life and we cant or wont be able to see it for several thousands of years....we don't exist in the universe at real time and neither do other worlds with life...aliens from a distance may already be studying our earth but all they can study is our dinosaur age so they wouldn't even be able to see our technological advancements for a long time...

    I’m sticking with the simulation theory. And I’d even go as far as saying, we as occupants within it have been programmed to operate in a predefined way. The question of why was the simulation built in the first place is a puzzling one. What reality is outside of the simulation even more so. But with the simulation theory it is easier to imagine that we are THE only intelligence in the playing field. I think it’s fair to say that we are nowhere near being able to travel vast distances in space at this time… and it IS very possible that we are doomed collective of beings unable to harness a reliable source of energy from this planet in order to do so. Maybe we should accept our limitations and concentrate on restoring the planet’s health, even if it means shrinking the human population by half. Simulation or not, we should be learning to protect our environments not exploiting them.

And if we/they find us/them, and they are more advanced wouldn't it be T - 1? Because if we are talking about ever evolving painting, that would imply, that eventually, more and more of it would complete, so it's a matter of time untill T because more or less? am I over thinking this? under thinking this? Just as there is a perfect balance between the five types of energy that make up the universe; gravity, matter, antimatter, the strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force all have to be in perfect balance for the universe to exist, so too does everything need to exist in perfect balance for our tiny little planet to have life. If one planet or star system didn’t exist or react in the way it does, has or will then life on earth would either not have existed or would cease to exist. Therefore, there is no, nor will there ever be life anywhere else in the physical universe.
