Felix got spurs that jingle jangle jingle
Synthesis pod should be in the deck. It's an insurance policy for getting weak or undesirable hits off gonti, then upgrading them into better spells for the moment. I use it. Very consistent and nice to have with the randomness built into theft/exile/cascade.
I feel like myriad would work perfectly in this deck
Marang River Prowler. It’s an evasive body that can steal for Gonti. And if somebody manages to send it to the graveyard, you can recast it for as long as you own a black or green permanent, like Gonti.

I just wanted to say, as someone who's casually getting into commander, I really appreciate the energy you all put into these set coverage videos! It's easy to be negative and say "everything sucks", but you all find the joy and opportunity in everything. Sure, everything isn't going to be competitive, but you make it so that if someone just loves the theme or the commander, they can find ways to celebrate and iterate on it! ❤
Please include Jordan more often!!! He and Rachel have great, comedic, light-hearted chemistry that is sooo chill and unbothered in the best and hilarious ways 🥰🥰🥰
A really strong card that y'all missed was vashtnerada from the doctor who decks. Shadow and indestructible, evasive and sticky

So glad to finally have a precon that's built around Theft. Definitely gonna grab this one.
D&D sets have a few precons built around theft, different colors though.
@RobotKey1 True, I couldn't get ahold of any since the only store within distance of me priced them way up since DnD is extremely popular where I am.
In the true spirit of this precon, I will be stealing this precon. The way WOTC intended.
The pirate precon from LCI has a very strong theft sub theme that you could emphasize by swapping new Beckett Brass for the old one, who’s in the 99. Deck is loaded up with good pirates, most good pirates steal stuff in one way or another, and the commander digs for the good ones and recurs them the first time they die. Look into that one also if you like the theme, it might even play stronger.
Suggestion for future episodes: put the price tag of the cards on the left side so we can see the mana costs
Another fun direction to take Gonti is making non-legendary copies of him. Gonti's ability stacks so if you've got 3 Gontis out then you steal three cards per combat damage and all the stolen stuff is reduced by 3
Not really a direction - you only need 2 or 3 cards to make it happen, but I get what you are saying sounds like a great idea!
As someone who played a lot of Gonti over the past couple of weeks it is probably bit of a overkill. Just getting 3 cards each turn is more then enough (depending on the draw you might not even need him), but a Spark Double might slot in nicely.
With all the mana we need and evasive creatures we have, I think it makes incredible sense to include Nature’s Will to untap our lands to cast more of the stolen spells while shutting down some of our control-centered opponents.
I definitely agree with your take on how Wizards treats back-up commanders. They want them to be interesting, but in doing so, they often dont fit the theme as well.
Felix fits great into a Gonti deck that is all about Gonti'ing.
Pro tip, get very recognizable sleeves for this deck. I had black sleeves on my last theft deck, and I stopped playing it as a theft deck because of that. Mainly a convenience thing

Interesting comment about holding back the number of evasive creatures you need, to hold off for a board wipe. I recently built don andres theft, and that’s good to keep in mind. That art on gonti is super cool. I really liked that jeans commercial cause it showed us the behind the scenes of how the command zone studio is laid out

Definitely "Gix, Yawgmoth praetor" hes another Edric and literaly has villainous wealth as a activated ability but X is not discarded cards
Good inclusion for flavor, but the card is bad in the deck. You can easily get the 1st ability without Life loss and the Villainous Wealth effect is totally useless. You don’t even get your mana back unless you discard 5-6 cards and the cards of so much lower quality then the ones in your hand (that often can steal cards on their own in a more efficient way).
Played this on prerelease night against another Gonti precon, an Olivia precon and a non precon and it was a WILD RIDE. Stole a Zendikar Resurgent and Infinite Wealth’d for 18 while I had my own second infinite wealth in my hand 🤣

They’ve been killing it with alternate commanders lately. I love how they’ve been doing stuff that is like a sick build-around on its own
I picked up this precon. After playing it the first couple times I felt like I wanted to put in a couple landfall payoffs.
I like tireless provisioner. The treasure would be really nice for playing cards from other players decks and making up for all your extra landfall triggers.
extra land drop effects are really good when you see as many cards as you do when you’re exiling off everyone’s library
great review, this was helpful for me as the deck isn't as playable as the other recent precons . small suggestion, make the set lighting mimic the deck colours :)
The thirteenth doctor could be a good addition. Handy to be able to steal some strong attackers/blockers from opponents and make them semi-vigilant.

One card i'd look to add is a Vorpal Sword. Mainly, it's a way to end the game should this survive to just a 1v1 or end a player if someone is 1 turn away from winning. With the amount of evasive things and the ramp in the deck, I think it's an easy add. Also, I'm unfamiliar with how theft decks really win the game, so with this one being sorta combat damage-focused, I think of this as a way to do that and not just drag out a game that has already gone 3+ hours.
Shogun is sho good! Ep 9 had me feeling all kinds of feels.

I play a lot of ninjutsu cards with my Yuriko deck and I am loving this precon. Stole my friend's Walking Ballista and some of other's removals and I be removing their creatures with their own spells. Not able to win at last but hella fun to mess around with everyone at the table
Shogun is so good. I want to make a cowboys and samurai deck, but I don't know if there's enough synergy between this and much of the Kamigawa stuff
Elminster’s Simulacrum. Get one of each of your opponents commanders so you get the synergies.
I know it’s a lot more work for you all but I really like this better than the putting the two decks against each other so I can find the exact deck I’m
Wanting to learn about
So I got this deck on pre release and been testing it a lot. Here's a list of cards to consider if you plan on upgrading the deck.
DISCLAIMER! (My group usually plays at a higher power level, roughly around an 8. So please keep that in mind when thinking of cards from this list to add to your deck).
- Agent of Treachery (Single target theft card and a pseudo draw engine once you stole enough stuff)
- Lantern of Insight (allows you to see the top of everyone's deck so you know who to steal from and when)
- Kaito Shizuki (creates evasive creatures, a draw engine and has a good ult...if you get it)
- Lord of the Void (One problem this deck has is winning with it's own stuff so a big 7/7 body that can also steal stuff is great)
- Maraleaf Pixie (If you're gonna have a mana dork at least have an evasive one)
- Glissa Sunslayer (First Strike + Deathtouch is crazy and she's card draw or enchantment removal...and can remove counters in the rare instances when it matters)
- Hunted Horror (Here me out giving someone two 3/3 tokens with prot black is not ideal BUT you have a ton of evasive creature and Hunted Horror is a 7/7 with Trample for 2 mana!)
- Sonic Screwdriver (it's a mana rock, can untap other artifacts, or can make your less evasive creatures unblockable...the scry ability is just a plus)
- Nature's Will/ Sword of Feast and Famine / Bear Umbra ( These cards are insanely good in this deck. You play what you need to play, attack and untap all lands to play the stuff you stole!)
- Memory Lapse (Normally just a meh counterspell but in this deck it's actually really good. You counter the spell and place back at the top of the library for you to steal later.)
- Arcane Denial/ Negate/ Swan Song/ An Offer You Can't Refuse/ Mana Drain (Good generic LOW MANA counterspells to protect Gonti)
- Xanathar, Guild Kingpin (Mentioned in the video but not as an upgrade. You can lockdown players holding up mana...or blue players and can play cards off the top of their library)
- Scheming Symmetry (This card is a crazy mind game in this deck. Either the target player puts something crazy for you to steal or have to intentionally put something useless at the top)
- Varragoth, Bloodysky Sire (So this card is insane with the next card I'll mention. However it can give you the perfect card to place on the top of your deck each turn.)
- Opposition Agent (ONLY PLAY THIS AT HIGHER TABLES...or if you don't want friends. You can steal your opponent's searches and it combos with Scheming Symmetry and Varragoth!)
- Hoarding Broodlord (Pricey on the mana for sure, but Broodlord giving all the spells in exile that you stole convoke is really good! Plus you're in green you can ramp easily!)
- Warkite Marauder (Here's a pirate for the Indomitable lol BUT more importantly it makes your opponents easier to swing on if they have beefy blockers for your less evasive creatures)
-Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor (You may as well draw a card at the cost of 1 life from your evasive dorks landing. Plus the other ability fits perfectly with this deck!)
- Tlincalli Hunter (Once per turn you can cast a creature spell you stole FOR FREE!)
One with Nature
@@gnoll1812 Definitely a good add for early game ramp! The problem is in later stages of the game you want active mana for interactions and casting your opponents stuff!
However this on a turn one or turn two evasive dork is probably the best hand you can ask for!

my favorite part about this video is that 3 of the cut cards were like critical to an out of the box first time playing it win against a very well tuned Henzie deck lol
I reccomend One with Nature. It's a one drop green enchantment that can get you free ramp every turn with an evasive attacker. With Felix out, you can get 2 lands each turn!

Added Rogue Class + Mosswood Dreadknight
Havent tested them but rogue class seems to fit like a glove and could see mossknight being either a consistent hitter with the trample or a constant source of card draw and something to pair with stolen smaller curve spells
I think the class it's not worth it. You need to pay too much mana to start beeing able to cast the spells

I love this deck. In my iteration I added some wincons: overwhelming stampede, triumph of the hordes, aetherflux reservoir and bolas's citadel. I got to win some games with this deck using these and I feel that without those the deck can't make the curve and win games
They definitely sound like good includes for winning a little more consistently! The way I've built it you're a bit more at the mercy of your opponents decks to find wincons, but that can be fun in its own way.
You mentioned the deck was hurting on card draw. Agent of Treachery is a card that I know is very despised in some circles, but it is a card that cares about how many permanents you control but don't own. It draws you three cards every turn, and it steals any permanent on etb. It is a seven cost card, and I know you were trying to fix the mana curve, but this could be a very effective way of getting that card draw you were looking for.
Does anyone have any suggestions for mana pool? Is the precon mana perfectly fine or would you change any?

Would Elder Brain Be a decent card to add? It doesn't set off 5 boots but you're getting an entire person's hand on an attack trigger

There are very few blue-inclusive decks that wouldn't benefit from a Spark Double or Irenicus' Vile Duplication doubling their commander. Also, with the amount of cards that you would be getting off the top of other people's decks, some way to play extra lands per turn (Exploration?) is nice.
Ok can we talk about how good that Duer ad was? I legit thought that was pretty slick

What about Rogue Class?
This deck, more so than any others, is my flavour deck! If you aren't an outlaws or don't synergise with the theme, you are out! I am happy to cut better cards for more cowboy nonsense!! Great upgrade though as always from @commandcast
I like playing Scheming Symmetry when I have Gonti out and two unblockable creatures so I can target two people to get their cards
Praetor's Grasp and Suspicious Stowaway are great adds.
Daybound mecanic turns me off for suspicious stowaway, otherwise its so good !

Gonti seems like a lesser Etrata, Deadly Fugitive in my opinion. I love the art for this card though
Question about that Thada Adel scenario. They talked about using her on turn 3 and casting sol ring for free using Gonti's ability. However, wouldn't that not work since Gonti is still in the command zone?

I love my Tasha and most tables hate her with passion. I like to see more commanders center around theft, but I think many new player dont know that the theme is mostly hated or at least a little bit negative taken on. You will be focused, most players dont like mill and theft, they want to play their own cards. 😄
I try to play some cards like "As Foretold" and stuff to cast some cards for free. Thats helps a lot to get going with the game, but is risky and you can get blown out.
I feel like one of them said "Let's wear hats for the video" and each of them had a very different interpretation of that plan.
If you like cephalid face taker, you might also like identity thief.

Tegwylls scouring wipes the board then gives you exactly 3 evasive creatures so next turn you can play gonti and go off, with a slim chance of being flash.

One of the other benefits of this deck is that you can NOT cast cards you steal. If you pinch a card that synergises with an opponents deck really well but doesn't help you, leave it in exile! If you can't use it, they can't have it. Yeehaw.

I really want to hear the hosts say 'dollariedoos' during the value part some time.
Id like to add an honorable mention for Court of Locthwain. Not only does it introduce the Monarch, but it fits the theme of the deck.
If you arent the monarch, you can cast the spell you steal and it can be any mana. If you are the Monarch, you can cast one of them without paying its mana cost. So theres that, meaning you can cast any of the spells you steal with CoL, you get the monarch which lets you then draw at your end step so it fills both roles. Lets bot forget that because you have evasive bodies and unblockable bodies, you are more likely to steal the Monarch back without much effort.
I've played tested & and decided it's too slow. Sure, it's on brand for the deck but yeah you only get one trigger a turn

When you play an opponent's card it would go to their graveyard, but with dauthi out it will instead be exiled with a void counter. Then you can sac dauthi to cast it again

Void Attendant is a great political card against graveyard decks and a great gotcha card against red impulse draw decks...but I agree that it's not that useful in this particular precon.

I feel this. My first pull with Mind's Dilation was a Vampiric Tutor.
Outrageous Robbery is better than Villainous Wealth, in my opinion. It allows you to play lands, which VW doesn't, and fits more into Gonti's deck theme of casting your opponents cards for cheaper. Also OR costs 1 less than VW
Beginning of video, talks about having a scenario where you have seven mana on turn four, then at end of videovideo talk about how it takes so long to get seven mana...
Being a deck that steals stuff will make people attaxk you heavy anyways. Cunning rhetoric is just gaining some value off of it
You are not really spending a card to get their card your steal effect is on a sick in the command zone.
