Rewatching the Monster Madness compilation videos on and around Halloween has become a yearly tradition
Regarding "Clash of the Titans" James questioned the two-headed dog and was confused about whether it was supposed to be Cerberus but lacked three heads. Well, there is a two-headed dog in Greek mythology, but it seems to be much less well-known than Cerberus, so I'm not surprised James didn't know what it was supposed to be depicting. The two-headed dog is named Orthrus, or Orthos.
Spoke too soon, Didn't care for Mike being in the 2015 ones but james talking by himself again is back to form. so much better hearing him alone since he's more of a movie guy
Not sure how long James Rolfe has been on CZcams but as far as I'm concerned he's the greatest youtuber of all time, everything he has done is so good and done with such great detail, not to mention the range of different ventures he has delved into, Mr. Rolfe thank you so much for all the many great years of entertainment and may you continue with more success as long as you desire.
Totally agree! His AVGN stuff actually predates CZcams by a few years. They were released on GameTrailers and ScrewAttack before CZcams even existed. He's about as OG as it gets when it comes to internet creators.
hes from very beginning since mid 2000 just like me :P
2006
He's one of the early pioneers and biggest influences on CZcams content.
@ozozzooo001 Your account is only 12 years old, which means you created it in 2012. James is longgg before you.
Also, after 12 years, you're still broke and a nobody 😂
For years I was only ever interested in the AVGN series but this year I decided to check out Monster Madness and I sure have been missing out! This is great stuff, I've been on a binge since Halloween.
I could watch these year round. Now I can. Thanks James! Keep up the good work.
to many, this is the last monster madness
Thank you for uploading these, James 🎃
Michael Parks leaning on the Walrus abomination always reminded me of a deranged Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman in a weird way.
Btw, I know James has said it a lot over the years, but apparently the correct pronunciation of Legosi’s name is “la-goh-shi” just a fun thing to know
You had me at “Stitched up bleeding bag of shit.”
0:11 RIP BOO the real fuckin jaguar
My dad is an excellent artist and loved King Kong so he would draw these pics of King Kong climbing the Empire Estate building.
I’m doing a Godzilla marathon watching all the movies this week.
Oh but he’s back!
The man..behind..THE MASK! 💀 🔪
and he crawled, out, of, his, Hole!
I'm loving these releases. Been with you since GT, James. Loved your work for almost 2 friggin decades.
Oh boy, Eraserhead...it is a metaphorical message about becoming a parent and how it can change your world.
Tusks: The Paul Heyman Story
Your monster madness series has been one of your best achievements,, even when you are not acting as such. great stuff... thank you. been a fan of your work for more than 15 years now.
I like how while James is reviewing the framing of the shot lines up with the poster behind him to look like he's wearing a tiny witch hat on the side of his head.
Its like I am back in film class
Seeing Boo in the intro its nostalgical :( Rip Boo
🌹 🐈⬛
I always wanted that owl model.
Strange
That 20 second intro song was so 90's TV.
Bill Nye, or Tales from the Crypt.
Mostly though, so much like MST3k intro.
The 2 headed guard dog is Orthrus
Midsommer reminds me of wickerman down to the bear costume
Thanks for uploading this as one video, good move. It's the time of the season.
Surprised to hear him say that about Lost Boys.
Where’s Board James? I need some more!
I watch Monster Madness every October! Love it
Love these cleaned up re-uploads ❤
That bit about wanting to protect your gf being sexist concerns me.
I hope that when a burglar breaks into his house, he doesn't send his wife or daughters to confront the burglar because he's trying to not be sexist
I thought the most interesting version of Frankenstein's monster was in Penny Dreadful
You left off TCM2 as one of the best horror movies of the 80’s!!
If you want a great retelling of Metropolis, check out the 2001 anime of the same name
I love these compilations. Gives me peace
The closest thing to the Will Castle experience these days, is a 4D showing of an abridged movie. We had one at Stone Mountain GA for a while.
"Tusk" is something I've gotta see, as a fan of weird shit. Perhaps some snacks and some Chug-El-lug while viewing. The best ever product placement in a movie was in "House of a Thousand Corpses", where someones eating a bowl of cereal, "Agatha Crispies".
*DISCLAIMER: i may be wrong about what movie the Agatha Crispies cereal was in, but pretty sure im not just making it up
I was Lon Chaney's lover!
" Release the Kracken "...😂
I absolutely love this Cinemassacre's Monster Madness X into.😀😄❤
I loved the classic Monster Madness marathons but honestly this was my favorite one to consume. Glad to see it in one giant video
That TUSK abomination gave me nightmares
1:30:44 I have this on DVD from Eureka! Entertainment in the UK and it has some missing scenes has beautifully restored back to its original print as the Reconstructed and Restored version back in 2010!
And there is the 1984 release with rock music by Freddie Mercury, Bonnie Tyler, Cycle V, Jon Adnerson and many more!
Love MM and back to James only in front of the cam. Shame the reviews only have stills rather than clips, though
@22:20 in, that smile looks like a co worker of mine. Freaks me out just the same. No joke.
The chug uh lug could be a tribute to Roger Miller song??
I've heard in Drac. D&LI, during the staking scene, Steven Weber reacted outta character a bit when so much blood came out, but he managed to stay mostly in character & finish the scene.
If you think this staking scene is over the top,, you need to check out film Transylvania Twist. It's a Naked Gun style spoof of the Horror genre from the late 80s...
We never got a sinister video on monster madness did we? 😅
One thing I would add to discussions concerning silver age sci-fi movies is the influence Communism and The Cold War had on them (along with the Atom Bomb, of course). I think you have to be aware of this to truly appreciate Invasion of the Body Snatchers, for example… But… Great video James… really enjoy your stuff!
Keep em coming James
*"The Final Marathon."* Yeah, sure.
The tenth year was the last FULL marathon. He's still doing it, just not every day.
King Kong really is a great film. It should be seen, was made to be seen! And the Universal films are nearly all good. My favourite is The Mummy. It's a well shot, well written, well acted film- and a sad tale of unrequited love.
I agree. Rocky horror picture show is a cult classic. And here's a bit of trivia Tim curry was Dr. Frankfurter from the time it was a stage play.
HALEY Joel Osment, not Harry...lol
Also in that segment
Justin long not Jason long lol
1:02:10 I couldn't find that 3 Part series of Alien Invader Movies vs their Remakes on Cinemassacre
Mike is looking kind of rough this year, James should have done it solo.
I was thinking an actual pole.
I thought I was the only person who had seen “Eraserhead”, amazing movie on par with Todd Browning’s “Freaks”. I love this man’s take on these entries. Thanks.
Loved this Monster Madness, especially the Top Ten Lists
I always thought that Mr. Sardonicus face was from The Twilight Zone
Solid Gold again!
OG
James is my generations joe Bob Briggs or Elvira 😂😂
*RIP Boo*
Please everybody keep in mind this is James's personal opinion on these movies.
I don't agree with every point he's made but he has made a lot of good points.
He mainly dissects the movies into stuff that he didn't like and what he likes. The stuff they didn't do the stuff they could have done.
A lot of great content. I just don't agree 100% lol more like 95% 😅
Great example of what I mean...
3:01:58
Sorry James, but I find a mindless pawn way more scary than somebody who can think for themselves and has a conscience.
The pawn doesn't care.. doesn't have feelings...anything. Just emotionless. Only doing what it needs to get what it needs.
You're in the way 😬 oop.
The Babadook was a masterclass in marketing. The film was a good phycological horror, but definitely not as terrifying as it was made out to be.
That little boy worked my final nerves.
RIP to the classic Monster Madness days. Maybe next year he can find time to republish a 15 year old Halloween special 😂
RIP Boo 🌹 🐈⬛
Its Boo!
RIP Boo!
2:32:32
Dokken: 🎶Dream Warriors🎶
2:44:33 I worked as a security guard on Manchester town Hall when they were filming that inside. I got to see some scenes be filmed and it was so jarring hearing nothing but dialog, nothing on the set made noise, like there were cushions made up to look like wall panels and books. Nothing was what it looked like.
This is a yearly tradition like it is for most people who watched this video..this movie is super underrated...comparing it to a classic Greek tragedy is one hell of a stretch haha but the movie is phenomenal in my opinion but I do a particular style of Movie that I like lol
Love this
So when are you gonna go on Zac Amico's Midnight Spookshow?
I love the nerd... man.
The Wickerman is so creepy and riveting.
Good work.
The strange tone makes it horror.
Capulina vs las momias
Monster Madness is old!
Uhhh😐, 41:44
What the Hell am I looking at in that picture on the screen?
😆👍
There are only three types of people in the world
1) Those who think Frankenstein is the monster.😢
2) Those who understand Frankenstein is the doctor.😅
3) Those of us who understand that Dr Frankenstein is the real monster🤔
This is one of my favorite MMs!!!
What about Skittles
Yeah, it was a good finale for the time. This was a big deal when it came out.
I read Del Toro is making a Frankenstein film.
He did Pinocchio, he was originally gonna make a Star Wars movie (he was working on an origin story for Jabba the Hutt (I'm dead fucking serious), but it was scrapped)... It's gonna be interesting to see what he does with Frankenstein, but it's also worrying because there's no telling whether or not it'll be a good screen adaptation like the 1931 film.
Zelda Williams (the daughter of Robin Williams) is making a Frankenstein movie and it's coming out pretty soon (I think in either February or March).
When it comes to Hammer top ten,I would put “Quatermas and the Pit” as number one.
Word to your mummies ❤
It's Justin long
I love ‘Jason Long’…
He either didn’t notice , or didn’t mention the communist over tones of “Metropolis “.
The Spanish version of Dracula is not better in many ways, it's worse in some ways.
Even though I love Mel Brooks and Dracula I've still never seen his Dracula parody. Though I wasn't as big of a Dracula fan at the time, I didn't care for the old movie and hadn't yet read the book, I enjoyed Coppola's movie but it seemed like a strange choice for a parody movie. It wasn't such a huge movie that people were clamoring for a parody of it (unlike say Star Wars, Rambo, Top Gun, etc) nor was it so awful that people felt it needed to be targeted. It had some problems obviously but it was fairly successful critically and financially. I can kind of see doing Robin Hood, it was a big hit movie, bigger than it should have been. While Bram Stoker's Dracula has stood the test of time better it was a much less bigger deal and then his movie came out several years after what buzz there was. I feel like both films became targets because they had public domain characters.
For anyone In the UK who didn’t know, Richard O’Brien who wrote the screenplay and music for Rocky Horror Picture show is also the person who hosted The Crystal Maze in the 90s
james
mike
a black cat
this gonna be a good ass video 😎
The glob of dook
I WAS LON CHANEY’S LOVER
Alfred Hitchcock was a freak.
I love metropolis ,to bad there isn't a real complete version ,the movie looks so ahead of its time ,I wish I could see an interview of ppl telling how they felt and how religious entities thought about it
Wtf Wednesday yess!!
