    Girl I could throw you a parade. I needed every last bit of this information. I had no idea about next to none of this. I'm one of those people that need to know everything about a subject. Teaching is a gift from God and sister your gift is strong. Everybody cannot teach. Thank you for sharing your gift. You(yes you) have given me the confidence I was lacking to can. I cannot thank you enough. I pray that the Lord open up the windows of Heaven and pour out special blessings for you and your family🌹🌹🌹❤️

    OUTSTANDING INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO. May I suggest that when you unscrew the wingnuts that you get into the practice of unscrewing the wingnuts they same way you put them on, OPPOSITES. This will help with muscle memory and get you into the practice of putting them on and off the same way. It is also a precautionary measure, just in case you still have a pressure within the canner. If you have a pressure still within the canner you would be releasing the pressure on one side; thus allowing the hot steam to come out from that side and scald you. Also, when you open the lid, you want to turn the lid towards the rear so as to allow the steam to go in the opposite direction from your face so as not to burn your face. Of course you knew that. :-)

    • @TheKneadyHomesteader
      @TheKneadyHomesteader  Před 4 lety +4

      thanks Cliff! great points! i do one at a time because the wing nuts are hot. 😆 if i did two at a time i know for sure i would burn myself!🤣 Grace is not my middle name. 🤣

    • @nunya7027
      @nunya7027 Před 4 lety +2

      @@TheKneadyHomesteader No need to apply Vaseline to the place where the wingnuts are. They never touch the metal, as there is a gap all the way around the lid when it's tightened correctly. Also, there is no need to use three inches of water if you convert to the petcock system. All of these All American canners had petcocks before they put the "Jiggler" devices on them. About 3/4" (three quarter inch) of water is all that's needed when the petcock is used, and it's silent. Many people still use the jiggler system, although it's the worst system to use. Converting the jiggler to the petcock is the best thing I've ever done to all of my All American canner/sterilizers. All in all this is a good video.

    • @robinalexander5772
      @robinalexander5772 Před 3 lety +2

      Nunya , pet cocks are not the best form to use. Reason it produces a steady stream of steam that travels a given distance, if you happen to get a body part in stream it will burn you. The jiggler method defuses the steam jet making it less of a hazard, eg safer. Why take my word for this I run boiler systems for more than 30 plus years, plus I have commissioned them as well. Cheers from Tasmania

    My heart hurts for you sweet lady. I lost my Mom almost 7 years ago(2 weeks before I turned 30) and everyone keeps saying it will get easier but I have my doubts about that..the pain is still raw and overwhelming. I used to can with her and my grandmother and now that they are both gone I come to your videos for canning advice since I can't call them with my questions. Thank you for being part of my "self-care" when I'm missing them❤

    One thing to keep in mind is that while yes, these are a pressurized “bomb”, imbedded in the lid is a black rubber pressure release valve that will blow out if the pressure gets too far beyond 15 PSI and will immediately discharge pressure to avert a catastrophic failure. Not sure if this was mentioned elsewhere in the comments. But yes, one has to use good common sense when using these. Great job in your detailed explanation of the All American, which are undoubtedly the best pressure canners on the market. Love your content, subscribed 👍

Sometimes getting that cover to perfectly seat was a frustrating issue for me. We have a propane range like yours and it is so easy to get the pressure up to 10 /11lbs ( for our region), reduce the heat and keep it on 10, with supervisoin...I attached the weight with a string in the hole opposite the 10 and attached the string to the handle, so I never lose it.

    Heather, this year will be the 2nd since I lost my childhood best friend of 15 years... from what I know and have learned from this kind of grief, and from others who are farther along in their journey with their grief, it’s that the weight of it never really changes. As time goes by, you learn how to carry it a little bit better, but some days the same weight of grief can feel heavier than the day before. Anniversary’s of birthdays, death days... holidays etc. are always more difficult. My heart is with you, and I hope that you found the peace you needed to make it through this day.

    I found your tutorial on the All-American and was really excited - it is so explicit. I purchased a 921 this past fall after canning with an old presto for 25 years. I thought it was about time to come into the 21st century of canning. I can't tell you how disappointed I have been with this canner. I followed the directions that came with it and couldn't get it to seal. Over the past several months, I have watched several tutorials on CZcams, paid attention to their directions and tips and "tested" my canner. always no luck. So I thought your CZcams was more specific about the vasoline you used and where you used it - which no one else had addressed. So, now, I have just finished testing my canner for the umpteenth time - again with no luck. I still have leaks. I'm going to put my All American on the market and go back to a Presto - at least I know when it locks down, it's not going to leak. But I really appreciated your specifics, you do an excellent tutorial. Beverly Rampey, Elizabeth Colorado

    I’ve had my All American canner in the box for 2 years because I was petrified to use it. This year, I’ve decided to buck up and can some beans. I read the directions, tried a test session and wow, did I miss a lot. I didn’t put any jars in it for the test, nor wait the 10 min. My brain was like, “there won’t be any water left”. I have an electric glass top range so I was nervous, and that was an understatement, about trying it. I watched your video and bam! Now I feel more confident in using it. My question for you is, the instructions say to use hot water in the canner did you use hot water?
    So glad you posted this. It’s going to be my “go to” tomorrow when I try my beans for real. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 it works. Wish me luck.

    I'm so sorry for your ongoing sense of loss, Heather. I'm sure your mom would be super proud to see how many people you've helped in this little community you've created here. 🥰
    September 23rd was 4 years since I lost my dad. He was my rock and I know I'll always feel lost without him. This year was the first Christmas season that I wasn't just going through the motions the whole time. I broke down briefly while frosting the gingerbread cookies, (those were his favorite and this is the first time I've made them since he's been gone) but I managed to pull myself together and not get any tears in the frosting. It turns out that my son likes them now so that was a nice surprise, otherwise I'd have to eat the whole batch by myself!
    Hugs to you and warm wishes for a healthy and prosperous new year. 💜

      Tomorrow I will attempt Test #3 to see if my canner will seal properly at the second wing nut left of the arrow. When trying to build up steam I see bubbling by that wing nut. The pressure gauge does not make it to 15 with the weight set at 15 pounds. I’ve got to be doing something wrong to not be able to get my lid to seal properly. 😞

    Ok now I want this canner 😊
    Glad you took us step by step with one. They seem a little intimidating to me but I think I could handle it. Putting it on my growing amazon list, lol.
    I am a motherless daughter as well so I totally know what D-day is like. After 26 years of my moms passing, it still hurts but I will say the pain just little bit less. It never goes away, but I think about her and talk to her whenever I think of her. Yes, I still drop a few tears now and then even though so much time has gone by. My moms D-day is coming up in the 24th of this month. Hugs to you Heather 😊

    Great tutorial, I am following each step. It's taking a long time to get the pressure Guage to move up. I am hoping it didn't get damaged in shipping. Have the flame on high and it's been 30 minutes at least to get Guage up to 1 pound and no steady steam yet. Hope it's going to work out. Hope my stove has the Btu requirement. No leaks all good. Just taking long.

    This is so perfect! I've been binge watching your videos...I may have posted on another of your videos that between you, Linda's Pantry, Prepper Poppourri and others, I got up the courage to try pressure canning. My All American 915 just came a couple of days ago! Can't wait to try it! I'm so sorry about your mom. I was 27 when we lost our mom almost 40 years ago. I still miss her every day. My words of wisdom to someone with a recent loss is that there will come a time when your memories bring you comfort instead of the pain they bring you now. You have such a kind heart. I wish we were neighbors.

    I have made sourdough bread from scratch many times. I've found the use of the orange juice method to make a starter best. I noticed on bread making day, that dough rise is an ALL DAY (even in very warm environment) event so don't get impatient and discouraged.
