I am from Chicago and my husband and I would take our children to this restraunt when they were little. They have graduated college now. Ms. Sylvia would sit them on her lap and hug them. My oldest would say Ms. Sylvia are you a millionaire and that would make her laugh. I will always love this family. Thank you for being beautiful people. We love you. The Davis Family❤❤❤
What a great memory ❤
WOW!!! What a beautiful story!
As a Black- German, i was introduced to Soul Food at Silvias when i lived on 125th street 24 years ago. What a wonderful restaurant & amazing food.
Is usual black German food what every German typically eats? I never thought too much of black German culture.
So proud of the Woods family legacy..
This made me cry! I remember seeing Sylvia in the restaurant when she was alive!
Wow that’s amazing you had the opportunity to meet her…how was she in person?
@@mzstacystacks3168 So wonderful and down to earth. She would walk around the restaurant and talk to the patrons. Then, she would sit at the bar. She was so wonderful!
@@MM-cy1tc thank you for responding I regret deeply not going there when the late great Ms. Sylvia was alive
I was able to go to Sylvia's restaurant when Sylvia was alive, I was there celebrating my mom's birthday. Sylvia was gracious enough to come out and meet us. The food was amazing! I hope the second generation keeps things going.
62 YEARS !!!!!
So Very Proud Of This Beautiful Family I'm A Personal Friend Of Van, Brenda And Their Children Devon And Sierra Woods OUTSTANDING!!!! 🪵 ❤️ ♥️
happy summer to all black owned businesses 🤎
They are so right about this being family. I grew up in North Jersey, but worked a summer job in Harlem. I would eat there every day and sometimes twice a day💵 After I moved to the ATL they opened a location on Central ave and when I stopped in Mr and Mrs Woods greeted me like one of their own. Telling another customer “we’ve known him since he was kid”. Wonderful people and incredible food😋✊🏾
I ate here years ago with my family and the food is absolutely awesome! The atmosphere is beyond priceless!❤❤❤
An Amazing NYC Historic Landmark. I visit every single time I'm in up there.
God's Continued Blessings Bestowed Upon You Always. Thank you for 62 Remarkable Blessed years of feeding souls, spirits, and dreams.
Humbly,
I was so glad that I met Ms. Sylvia. She was a great entrepreneur who has an amazing family who continue to keep her legacy alive. Great food and one of the best family restaurants in NYC.❤😅😊
That's my family! Nesmith stand up! What's up Kenny!
I visited from Detroit back in 07. I have pictures with Mrs. Sylvia. Rest in Heaven ❤
My sister visited Sylvia's and flew back with meals from there. It was worth the wait.

Sylvia's always has seats full. It's very popular in Harlem. I remember growing up seeing her food sides in the grocery store. I don't think I knew then that she had a restaurant.
I use her seasoning every day!!

How did a report on Sylvia when I was in school.
👑❤️🖤💚💎👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The food hasn’t been good in a long time . however glad they are a harlem institution - just got to get the food right
😋🤤
The food looks delicious but is it healthy to eat?
People don't eat soul food for the nutrition!
It's always that one 🙄... backhanded compliment
In moderation !
@@MsSparkle0217 No when you've had a heart attack like me and I have hypertension. Most blacks have cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and diabetes. It is important that blacks eat healthy if they want to live past 75 years old.
@@daddygrace253I know black peoples who lived on soul food all their lives because back then that’s all our ancestors had to eat to honest most old black folks lived pass 80 and 90s don’t believe the stereotypes

Gayle is a professional. Words, phrases and statements are thoroughly looked over. "What does this mean to all of y'all". 🤔🙄😒. Miss me with the fake cultural appropriation.
I thought slyvias is owned by the japanese now.
Thought wrong
They need them votes😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
No shade to miss slyvia but the food wasn't good back in 2003. Maybe things have changed and maybe im biased because im from the south.
The food is mid at best.
Tourist trap
