I am from north of fucking Pittsburgh and just seeing the guys hand, and hearing his voice, I could tell he was a hardworking honest person. Being god fearing is hard to judge nowadays, so I am not going to proclaim that, but this guy is definitely honest and he’s a child of god whether he realizes it yet or not!
Had a well in the Texas Hill Country. Maintained it myself until the lower pump fried during a terrible lightning storm. 430 feet deep and even portions of the casing melted. First bid was $11k. Found an individual like you and made a deal to replace casing, pump and wiring for $3k. I would take care of all the casing, wiring and trash. Took his crew 2 days to replace everything. Added a special ground and fine tuned my pressure pump. Saw your long video and it blew my mind to see the broken casing with freshwater "critters" and fine sand everywhere. People like you are such a Blessing to those of us caught between a rock and a hard spot with someone taking advantage or attempting to take advantage of folks. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this. I can see why the casing broke if it was a lighting strike, but I was surprised to not see gravel around that casing when you went outside it. I always pack casting with gravel up to the water table . Above the water table would be bentonite plug to avoid contamination . How on earth is there that much biological contamination down there . After setting wells you really do see everything after a while ... I agree , sleeve it was the best option . Great job .... Great video ...
So these are rotory mud drilled wells with only layers of sand and clay and some gravel strata. When the casing is set if not properly developed they will stay open hole and not cave in. We don't have to gravel pack wells due to the strata usually being 5-20' thick course sand and gravel already. The casing is washed down into the set depth and then the well is blown to clear the mud and start developing it. I have a few videos of two local drillers on my channel you should watch h and let me know what you think of how we do it. I'm no driller I'm just a Pump Installer/Service company but have helped others in drilling. Thanks for the comment and watching, Casey

I have seen pvc do that on sewer lines as i used to be a plumber

@@ExposingCorruptionNC No in this case were going to do a 3" or 2" sleeve with seal past the well casing break. Then we will blow the well for a hour or so to remove all the debris and critters. Then going to do chlorination with 300 gallons solution into the strata for 48 hours without using. Then I'll have to install an aboveground pump as a submersible won't work anymore.

@@1982MCI Depends on where the water is. He never really stated well casing depth or water depth. My wells are 50 feet deep and water at around 25 feet. Its just deep enough that I need a well pump. 2 wells are 6 inch casing and the other one is 8 inch I think. I think I have another well yet it may be collapsed. A friend of mine has an old hand dug and bricked lined well that is 20 feet deep yet has no water. I would love to have a brick lined well yet there is not reason.

I lived on well water for almost 50 years and always had a strainer on the end of the pipe but our pump was above ground. We now use the city water. Chemour has polluted alot of the water shed in the area.
Yea I still have to go back want to do a 2" sleeve with fernco seal and grout the break off. The water level is only 12' so s shallow well pump will work fine in place of the submersible. Love your channel to bud watch you all the time as well it's grown so much. I'm glad you have more time than me for long form content these shorts are all I can do when I'm so busy. I'm a new well owner. Bought our property 2 years ago. Seller didn't have a report of any kind on the water quality. We bought the house and we love the taste of the water! We haven't tested the water... *I get the feeling someone reading this just cringed* Should I have it tested, just from the tap? We can't run both showers at the same time but otherwise the pressure is enough. Hot water frequently smells like summer/rotten eggs. PS: I subscribed. Fascinating content!
Rotten egg smell is sulfur. You say the water tastes good? If it's kinda sweet then it may be lead. Lead acetate is know as lead sugar. Was even used as a sweetener by the Romans.
We have a cave called the Seneca Caverns here in North Central Ohio, and at the underground stream at the very bottom of it, there is a species of blind cave shrimp that inhabit it. Sounds like something similar going on there.

The whole western half of Erie County and part of Seneca and Sandusky County are a karst area, full of sinkholes. They were dumping dye into surface sinkholes a few years back and the dye tur Ed up in my well which was around 25 miles away!

I've heard stories about an old dug well that was made in an area close to underground caves. They said that the old timer that lived there would catch bluegill and crappie out of it.
I kinda wonder how much the job was vs drilling a new well and dropping a new casing in? I mean he has every thing else needed and does not need a new pump and anything else. 50 foot well drilled should only take a couple of hours. I have several wells on my land including a brand new well that has never been used.
That's experience and having some pride in your work and if more people would open their eyes and look do at visual and use common sense and be more knowledgeable about what they are doing everyone would have better results and happy customers and get more customers from word of mouth
Can anyone identify what species those critters were? Possibly undiscovered speci? Also those creatures lived in saturated sand underground? WTF are they eating? They likely have never seen light before and live in total darkness.
Also sometimes the customers home owners insurance will cover repairs for damages caused by lightning. They might be able to submit the other companies invoice as well. They would still have to pay the deductible though.
I found a 4" well in the field. PVC pipe broken, leveled with the ground. What to use to close it, to prevent from debris to fall down? How to find if it has water and how deep? Also what camera you use to inspect the well and what 4" pump and water tank brands and models are best?
If it's still a viable well it should be raised back up and capped. You can take a stick of pvc and see if it goes straight down atleast 10' should be a well. If you look with a light you may see water table or anything that fell in the casing. I got my camera off Vevor a Chinese website that sells tools it's worked really well not paying 5k for something I hardly ever use. The best pumps right now are Franklin Electric and the best tanks are AO Smith steel in my. Thanks for the comment and watching, Casey

I was in Pasco County, FL in the 80s, and paid a guy $2200 to drill a 60' well with 40' casing, + pump. He drilled the well ~30', installed 16' casing, and skipped town.
1500 should have covered the pump, pipe, wire, switch and miscellaneous stuff. I've never seen a pvc casing broke like that but I've seen galvanized or steel casings rot out. Did an old pump hit the sides and bust the pvc? Or was this caused by the well drillers and has been an issue all along?
The old man is pretty sure there was a close lightning strike and have seen this happen before. The strike can make a very big percussion in the ground and being the break was close to ground level. So they have used the well for over 10 years without issue till a few months ago. Usually you just straight up abandon wells like this and get a new one. Unfortunately they can't afford one and getting a driller is difficult also. So we're going to try sleeving the well to a 3" because it's only 15' down and total depth of well is about 50'
@@ClearWaterPumpWell , The lightning could have over-torgued the old motor and it hit the casing. We put torque arresters on the drop pipe to prevent the pump from hitting the sides of the well casing.
@@johnbrzenksforearm8295 Enh it was only hanging 40' I don't see how it could move enough to do it. A 4" pump in a 4" Casing doesn't have much room. You could see in video but I may have cut out where you could see pump rubbing the casing at 40'. It wasn't really wearing a hole but cleaning off the rust stains.
I'm shocked at how many people drink water from shallow wells. Great for gardening and such but..... All my wells at the ranch are 200 ft plus. Aprox 30 ft of surface casing and the rest is 3 or 4" steel casing.
Northern Ohio here, the shallow well I had was buried, 25 ft deep, 10 ft of casing and gave 12 gallons a minute but it was sulfur, and high in Iron and manganese. Took 2 Cul-Sorb tanks and a softener and sink filter to make it drinkable. When rural water came through I wasted no time hooking up, lol.
Lakos makes sand separators but they only work well with bigger coarse sand. You can check the pin comment but the well had a hole in the casing from lightning.

@@jonleiend1381 Yes I still have to fix the well with a sleeve and blowing out. Going to do it for free since they are in such need. Yea were in south east Louisiana.
If that was a concrete well casing like they installed in a irrigation well on my uncle's farm l would suggest trying to patch the hole with some grout or expanding cement but there us no telling how that would work with the PVC. I have got a lot of screw ball ideas that l would try for myself but would be unethical to suggest for others without testing.
Yea so with a cracked or broken pvc well the repair is using a sleeve and seal past the break. The new line goes past and can then be grouted on the outside to seal off permanently. Then a different type of pump is used because the casing is now smaller.
I know this is old video and this comment likely never to be seen.. we bought a house with a well.. started losing pressure and was told the footvalve down in well was going bad, that all the pipe had to be pulled and footvalve replaced... They pulled pipe, put pvc pipe with a new foot valve and the pipes came apart down in the casing... Then i was told nothing can be done about it, pipe cant be pulled back up and i need to drill new well and it was going to cost like 5k and i cant do that cause im a full time single dad with medical issues... So since then ive been back feeding our house through our outside faucet with a hose from across at my mothers house .... Is there a way for me to pull this pipe and footvalve and reclaim my well or is it truly a lost cause ..
Good lord yea thats normally a routine service and assuming your reffing to a deep well pump and jet that broke? I have retrieved many jets in wells but it depends on how far down they fall and how it breaks off. If they put a completely new setup together and lost it something probably was not done right. No your well should not be bad unless you can't get that one out or you don't have room to install another on top of it. I would call a other reputable company and get a second opinion. I'm in south east Louisiana if you were wondering I don't guess your close to me or I would come help.

Where do you think City water comes from some cities use desalinization or reserve water but most of it comes from a well and then is reverse osmosis treated
I had salt water reef tanks for years, like 20 years. I started them when I lived on well water and even though I hated drinking the water because I thought it was bad, the reef tanks thrived on it. then I moved and had city water and I couldn't get the reef tanks or fish to live anymore, even using 5 stage RO_DI filters and de chlorination. I learned that well water was way better and healthier then city water.

I wonder if you could help me find answers to the following:
Thinking to lower the pressure tank and connect to the pump about 10' under the ground to eliminate the heating well house in the winter season. My pipe runs about 6' under the ground. 1) is it a good idea? 2) how to do it? 3) Should I install another pressure tank under the house in the crawl space? How to install pitless adapter and connect well water poly pipe without dropping anything down the well? Do I need to cut casing, well pipe and wiring? The well is about 30 yards away from the house.

I was in Pasco County, FL in the 80s, and paid a guy $2200 to drill a 60' well with 40' casing, + pump. He drilled the well ~30', installed 16' casing, and skipped town.

1500 should have covered the pump, pipe, wire, switch and miscellaneous stuff. I've never seen a pvc casing broke like that but I've seen galvanized or steel casings rot out. Did an old pump hit the sides and bust the pvc? Or was this caused by the well drillers and has been an issue all along?
The old man is pretty sure there was a close lightning strike and have seen this happen before.
The strike can make a very big percussion in the ground and being the break was close to ground level. So they have used the well for over 10 years without issue till a few months ago.
Usually you just straight up abandon wells like this and get a new one. Unfortunately they can't afford one and getting a driller is difficult also. So we're going to try sleeving the well to a 3" because it's only 15' down and total depth of well is about 50'
@@ClearWaterPumpWell , The lightning could have over-torgued the old motor and it hit the casing. We put torque arresters on the drop pipe to prevent the pump from hitting the sides of the well casing.

A 4" pump in a 4" Casing doesn't have much room.
You could see in video but I may have cut out where you could see pump rubbing the casing at 40'.
It wasn't really wearing a hole but cleaning off the rust stains.

I'm shocked at how many people drink water from shallow wells. Great for gardening and such but..... All my wells at the ranch are 200 ft plus. Aprox 30 ft of surface casing and the rest is 3 or 4" steel casing.
Northern Ohio here, the shallow well I had was buried, 25 ft deep, 10 ft of casing and gave 12 gallons a minute but it was sulfur, and high in Iron and manganese. Took 2 Cul-Sorb tanks and a softener and sink filter to make it drinkable. When rural water came through I wasted no time hooking up, lol.
Has to be a stream connected there or something, I can’t figure any other way that you would find marine life.

My well has a 2 inch casing with a jet pump. It’s probably 35 years old.
I can not remember the name but a company makes a filters for wells that have sand like that. Mainly irrigation wells for fields.
Lakos makes sand separators but they only work well with bigger coarse sand.
You can check the pin comment but the well had a hole in the casing from lightning.

I saw both videos glad the actual problem was able to be identified and fixed. A little funny seeing the water pipes and pressure tank above the ground level and not heated. Guessing this was not Ohio LOL

Yea have yet to get back there yet as I'm going to try and repair it for free.
If that was a concrete well casing like they installed in a irrigation well on my uncle's farm l would suggest trying to patch the hole with some grout or expanding cement but there us no telling how that would work with the PVC.
I have got a lot of screw ball ideas that l would try for myself but would be unethical to suggest for others without testing.
Yea so with a cracked or broken pvc well the repair is using a sleeve and seal past the break.
The new line goes past and can then be grouted on the outside to seal off permanently.
Then a different type of pump is used because the casing is now smaller.
My casing goes down about 50 ft and the remaining 500ft is all granite to the bottom of the hole.
Other company charged them $1500 so they could afford an inspection camera

Yea I'm just as stunned as you are. Well, they have plenty water, organics, microorganisms and some dissolved oxygen due to being not very deep.
I know this is old video and this comment likely never to be seen.. we bought a house with a well.. started losing pressure and was told the footvalve down in well was going bad, that all the pipe had to be pulled and footvalve replaced... They pulled pipe, put pvc pipe with a new foot valve and the pipes came apart down in the casing... Then i was told nothing can be done about it, pipe cant be pulled back up and i need to drill new well and it was going to cost like 5k and i cant do that cause im a full time single dad with medical issues... So since then ive been back feeding our house through our outside faucet with a hose from across at my mothers house .... Is there a way for me to pull this pipe and footvalve and reclaim my well or is it truly a lost cause ..
Good lord yea thats normally a routine service and assuming your reffing to a deep well pump and jet that broke?
I have retrieved many jets in wells but it depends on how far down they fall and how it breaks off.
If they put a completely new setup together and lost it something probably was not done right.
No your well should not be bad unless you can't get that one out or you don't have room to install another on top of it.
I would call a other reputable company and get a second opinion.

@@williamdrake6711 a old 2in well.... there's nothing old about a two-inch well. They are still drilling 2-inch Wells today and you can still get pumps and parts for them that's utterly ridiculous.

Where do you think City water comes from some cities use desalinization or reserve water but most of it comes from a well and then is reverse osmosis treated
The critters look healthy there is no reason to think the water is bad.
I had salt water reef tanks for years, like 20 years. I started them when I lived on well water and even though I hated drinking the water because I thought it was bad, the reef tanks thrived on it. then I moved and had city water and I couldn't get the reef tanks or fish to live anymore, even using 5 stage RO_DI filters and de chlorination. I learned that well water was way better and healthier then city water.
