Warning: There is a slight jump scare early on in this video for two reasons. First, getting shocked and then calmed down is a relaxation technique, and second, everyone knows that the best bit in the Lord of the Rings films is when Bilbo goes savage and gets mardy at Frodo ‘GIMME THAT ****ING RING YOU ****’. Ahem… anyway.
I remember reading letters between C S Lewis and Tolkien when they were chatting about the Lord of the Rings books and Lewis said something like ‘not another f***ing elf…’. Well, sorry Clive, but this specific elf got like almost zero screen time in Jackson’s cinematic version of LotR! So, I figured I’d give Glorfindel at least one ASMR ‘elf’ roleplay outing. Also, for whatever reason, I have created zero Tolkien ASMR content, which I feel I need to rectify.
In this fantasy ASMR roleplay the Elven knight (and seemingly re-re-re-rolled power character) Glorfindel of the House of the Golden Flower saves you from some random Nazgûl who popped down from Mirkwood after you escaped the siege of Osgiliath. It’s the first part of what will be a three parter, featuring the old bore Boromir and the painfully-absent-from-the-movies Tom Bombadil.
I made the armour out of some yoga mats and junk (you can find out more on patreon), and I also wrote the music. I’ll release the full ‘suite’ after the final video, so if you really like it you’ll be able to grab it soon!
Oh, and wherever possible, and with the help of a friend whose knowledge of Middle-Earth history and logistics is far superior to mine, I have tried to keep the narrative plausible within the timeline and geography of the Lord of the Rings books - this story being set slightly before the events of the films. That said, there’s a… well, a lot of room for error, so please be forgiving and kind of any mistakes I may have made!
Otherwise, there are plenty of up-close personal attention ASMR triggers, as well as a soft-spoken Welsh accent (because Elves are Welsh, all right?) that will hopefully help you to both relax and get your Tolkien fix. Enjoy!

🎙 What is ASMR? 🎧
ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) is synaesthesia of the soul. It’s a relaxing feeling, it’s a tingling down the spine, or it’s simply a sleep aid. Whether it’s being ‘held’ by someone you have confidence in, or ‘looked after’ by someone with authority, or just feeling ‘safe’ with someone you trust, it uses audio-visual triggers to enable you to let go of your worries and stresses - even just for a bit.
📽 What is FPC? 🎞
FPC (first person cinema) takes all the relaxing elements of ASMR but has much more of a focus on immersion and the suspension of disbelief. It’s kinda like being the main character in your own short movie, with popular figures you know and love, or entirely created worlds - just for you. There won’t be any visible mics or traditional triggers in these videos, and they will seem more unintentional than the usual ASMR videos - but they are unique and relaxing experiences designed to transport you to different places, worlds, and times.

Oh my goodness I love this so much. My linguistics major self is shrieking (very calmly) in joy, because the Welsh accent! Sindarin elvish was based on Welsh, and I've always had this thought/headcanon that the elves who primarily spoke Sindarin (like Glorfindel) probably had at least a light sort of Welsh-esque accent when they spoke the Common Tongue, so this is just a nerdy dream come true.

But he's been hanging around elves that speak Sindarin pretty much constantly after returning to Middle-earth, basically, so I bet he would have picked up the Common Tongue (which formed long after Sindarin) with many of the lilts and accents that the native Sindarin speakers around him had :)

Holy mother of God!!! Glorfindel has always been my favorite and him not being in the movies made me really sad growing up. I love your portrayal of him. The accent highlighting just how old he is and the slowness of intonation and tone fit so well!
Glorfindel is in the movie but is only standing behind Elrond in one scene.

OMG! That was perfect! I adore this version of Glorfindel. The hint of the Fall of Gondolin, the attitude of an actual warrior and even the golden flower. Absolutely perrfect. Thank you so much for making LOTR asmr. It was awsome!
Omg, the depth of the worldbuilding ("fallen Mairon, student of the Smith"?!), the Sindarin, the production value (the opening and the fight scene were on point, the yoga mat armor looks good), how Glorfindel feels old with his slow accented Westron... this is excellent. Only thing I'd do differently would be to make him glow. Funny of Glorfindel to talk about the Nazgûl being dead, being reborn himself.
(I'm thinking about, his Sindarin has a different accent than the Sindarin in the movies, but that can make sense, he learned Sindarin in the First Age, and recently returned to Middle-Earth, he's bound to have some kind of archaic Gondolindrin accent. (A good fanfic I read did this by translating it as Elizabethan English lol.))
Did parts 2 & 3 get cancelled? A Iarwain Ben-adar roleplay sounded fascinating :(
I think the Nazgul might have mistaken me for one of their own from the screeching I did when I saw this had uploaded, but I've been so excited for this video since you first announced it on Patreon and it is just as wonderful as I expected it to be. Your Elvish is very soothing and relaxing to listen to even if (or especially because) I don't understand a word of it. I am eagerly looking forward to our next two characters we'll get to meet and where this little story goes.
I actually taught myself how to write in Elvish during 2020 and I speak a bit of Sindarin as well. I don’t know if he was speaking Quenya or in the High Elven language but I only caught maybe one or two words
Now I can be rescued by a beautiful elf whenever I want! 🥰

SQEEEEEE!!! Three parter!!!!!! (sorry over excited!) This. Was. *Awesome* I won't give away spoilers but I am very excited (note the squee in the beginning 🙃) The jump scare, even though I was expecting it caused me to scream and sent my cats running. Of course the mention of Tom Bombadil caused another small shout of "YES" from me. I loved him in the game and I *know* you will do him justice (you are just that talented). The armor is great and I know how hard it is to work with that type of material because my daughter does cosplay and makes her own stuff. Now between this and Die Society 2 I am in overload. Recent subscriber here. Love your medical roleplays. Could you consider doing one where we are seriously injured and you're a comforting and patient doctor? Dealing with serious burnout from stress and that kind of ASMR is the most helpful to me.

This 2 times reincarnated Elven Prince of old isn't afraid of anything. Makes sense due to all that he's been through since the 1st and second ages. By the end of it he had been one and only promoted to a state similar to a Maiar spirit, his Fëa upgrading in a sense. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I thought it was a joke when a friend told me there is a Glorfindel ASMR. As a Tolkien fan I had to look for it. After the disappointment of the series, I was cautiously optimistic when I found the channel. By Durin's beard! What a great video. 🎉 Lovely detail with the golden flower on the amor🎉. I came for the Glorfindel fun. Now I'm staying because it's calming to listen to your voice. Asmr and fpc in combination has an incredibly good effect on me when itcomes to relaxation and switching off from day to day life.I didn't expect that. Acting you really have talent.The use of your voice, bodylanguage and the choice of words in the different roles are also multi-faceted and on the point. I haven't found anything that even comes close to your work.
