- HLCX 8169 SD40-2 in Burlington Northern Cascade Green leads CSX 4045 at NS tower in Lima Ohio on CSX Toledo Sub. Diamond is called NS Tower. 8169 is fitted with a Leslie RS3K horn that has developed its own unique sound over the years.
Dang that engineer must love playing with the horn! AWESOME Leslie duel!!!
Probably the best example of a RS3K I've heard!
Also like the RS3L in the back ground two classic Leslies!
I believe that is MNAR 3898 working on the CF&E
Love it
Nice to see and hear an old locomotive still retaining her original horn.
Yup. Sure liked this one
I really like hearing the RS3K horn and even the RS3L horn background I know for sure "oh" and even the ambulance siren duel action too @ 0:38 also goes really good with those train horn actions as well!!
Love this engineer! He really knows how to work that RS3K!
Yes thankfully!
I've heard one of these in person and it is awesome. They are so loud, I was in doors and it was loud. Awesome horn.
Though I prefer the S5T/RS5T, I like the RS3K and this is the best one I've heard
Scott Taipale those ones are some of my Favorites as well. This is probably the best recording of this horn that I've seen on CZcams.
It's like their animals calling each other! Lol "A wild SD40 has appeared!"
Lol
Amazing horn and SD40-2
I think I have a new favorite horn! Sounds great Scott.
I'm not a horn expert, but when I heard this one I researched the RS3K and can pick them out when I hear them now.
I always liked RS3Ks sound, it's sounds like a mix of an RS3L and a K5H.
My two favorites.
The RS3K actually plays the same cord as the K3L/K3H.
You should hear the horn on LS&I 3009
that horn sounds beutiful.
Very cool duet, and a beautiful true S3-K as it should be (sounds like the middle bell is fading, though, them babies'd break your heart!). Thanks for sharing this outstanding capture.
Heard that loco pass my apt last night, was very curious on the horn. Great video!
Thanks!
Nice catches of the mixed freight train.
Yes! The voice of the pre-merger Burlington Northern!
Excellent catch, and great video.
Thanks!
I love how you can hear an RS5T at the very beginning in the distance! Great video! I would love to catch a locomotive with an RS3K
Well well well, you predicted the future, didnt you carter?
@@notch8c40 haha! I guess I did!
@@CRBTrains Too bad the CSX CW44 that still had a S3K i believe got its horn replaced. I was hoping to see it lead one of the M trains in my area.
@@notch8c40 I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t get to hear the horn. If it makes you feel any better, I never got to hear 911’s RS5T.
I caught the same unit on a local job in Michigan. Great catch!
Thanks!
love the Rs3k!! sounds amazing! great video too!!
Did anyone else notice the 86' boxcars in the train
CSX train Q500 with the HLCX 8169 leading!
Best horn hands down
Best Leslie RS3K I've ever heard
Sure is

awesome video and i like the sound of that leslie rs3k too :)
Thank you!
Aside from RS5Ts, these are my favorite Leslie horns!
In a way I think they sound better than a RS3L
Awesome horn on that locomotive!
Thanks
Scott Taipale WHERES THE OTHER TRAIN?
In the CF&E yard 1/2 a mile west of here on the e/w line 8169 is shown crossing.
OK.
Great video and liked the new tank cars Scott!
Thanks Jeff
Your welcome!
Engineer was working tht horn✌
+MassDotFan1062 Productions I do believe he was enjoying it.
Scott Taipale he probably was :)
This locomotive is in FL now. Under a leaser scheme though.
Was an Ex-Burlington Northern SD40-2
yers......
I HEAR TWO DIFFERENT HORNS!! BUT THE BN LOCOMOTIVE HORN WAS A SIGNITAURE HORN!!!
There are 2 other railroads close enough to hear from this spot.
COOL
Fred Lohmann Caps lock? Iol
Just found the horn for the BN SW1500 in Trainz3
NO!
IT WAS THE BURLINGTON NORTHERN 8169 (HLCX!)
It sounds like a mating call! 🤣😂
I heard both an rs3l in the distance along with the ex-bn rs3k
The other horn was MNAR 3898 on the CF&E
Scott Taipale thanks for the info. interesting way to compare the rs3l w/ the rs3k
That sounds like a Leslie SL4T
Even though it’s an RS3K
HLCX 8169 ( NS 3576 )
No. It was HLCX 8170 (NS 3576) and rebuilt in 2022 to a SD40-3 6418.
HLCX 8169 ( ex NS 3408 )
no. It was HLCX 8162 (NS 3571) and retired in 2020.
Who left a bowl of onions here
WTF
Who will win? The L or the K
Idk I like them both
Sounds like bnsf 555
BN-1 F9A F7A MILW
That's an SD50-2. Not an SD40-2
Stikbot 9035 both locos are sd40's HLCX 8169 is the second generation and CSX 4045 is the third generation
IT IS A BURLINGTON NORTHERN LOCOMOTIVE!!!!! HELLO!!!!!!! NO OTHER RAILROAD IN NORTH AMERICA HAS CAS CADE GREEN!!!!!!!!! WITH WHITE STRIPS AND BLACK COLORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It WAS a Burlington Notthern, now it is part of the Helm lease fleet
HLCX 8169 ( ex NS 3598 )
NS 3598 was not a real locomotive. 8169 is now FURX 8169
looks like it might be a fouled horn
Stop
