    One of the big problems that I have with turbo 4 cylinder Camaros and Mustangs is the horrible exhaust note. Both of those cars sound like angry leaf blowers when accelerating.
    In Ford's case in particular, they charged more for the 4 than the 6...they should have put a few bucks towards a better exhaust system.

    • @TheCoolestCourier
      @TheCoolestCourier  Před 5 lety +4

      yeah the only way I like the exhaust is when its a full straight pipe on these cars. or else it sounds like a vacuum cleaner lol

      I'm pretty spoiled with motorcycle exhausts nowadays, I haven't owned a sporty car in a while but even though it's been a few years I still enjoy a straight piped turbo car even if it's a 4-cylinder. It is loud and obnoxious but most people's are not a full cat delete so it's refreshing to hear when it is. Usually it's a GTI or something like that when I see one pass by.

      @sneef Exactly. The conversation should really be between the 2.0T and Stringray Corvette. It is very obvious the v8 camaro is meant to go in a straight line. The 1LE package helps, but not nearly enough. The 4 cyl is handling focused just like the corvette, not like the bigger camaro.

As with any car as you know a brand new SS starts out at $45,000 and believe me after one year you could see a 10,000 or more depreciation hit on the SS just take a look the price of a use 2018 or 2017 SS there at least $10,000 or more under there sticker and barely a little over year or two old. I am looking fwd to building out a new 1LT with the 1LE pkg. And yes I will go for the turbo. Not just because I want to own a turbo but because of the weight savings. Together with the 1LE ‘track’ pkg it is really a well thought out pkg. I don’t care about HP numbers. Been there done that in my youth (LX 5.0 in ‘94 11.7 at 124...emissions legal and quiet). I already own a ‘14 Challenger 100th Anniv which I added H&R lowering springs. She’s a big girl even with the six. My ‘04 Monte Carlo SS also rides on a lowered suspension. But the Camaro turbo and 1LE sounds like a match made in heaven. Yeah I was a v8 guy from the 80’s (‘84 Monte SS w/nos) etc. For all those saying go v8....I can only say with age comes wisdom. Go check out the v6 1LE vs the I4 Turbo 1LE at the lightning lap testing. The turbo was one second behind the higher powered v6. Good video. You hit the nail on the head with the weight savings.

    Reading the comments i see many people that are not really understanding the concept of why someone would choose the turbo 4 engine over the V6/V8 engines....1st and foremost having the most powerful engine is NOT the most important factor in a performance sport coupe/muscle car...
    2nd...ALL current available camaro engines provide great performance, don't matter if it's the turbo or the V6 or the V8 All 3 engines have their Pros and Cons and are designed to satisfy 3 different customers....
    AND YES I KNOW AND AGREE THAT ANY OLD OR NEW MUSCLE CAR FEELS AND SOUNDS THE BEST WHEN PAIRED TO A V8... However a camaro with the turbo 4 should not be considered a bad choice or something to be embarrassed about...in fact a turbo 4 Camaro gains some handling performance benefits over the bigger engines...the top reasons customers should go for the turbo 4 is the much better MPG, the lower price and the lower insurance premiums.....Only 2 Drawbacks....you give up alot of power when compared to the V8 but more sad is you give up the Iconic and Seductive Muscle car V8 sound and it's mighty Exhaust Rumble that gets your panties wet.
    But when money is tight and insurance premiums are high yet you require your daily performance fix, you can rest assured the turbo 4 Camaro will give you a fast performance ride along with great nimble handling that allows the driver to really use every last ounce of power allowing the driver feel more confident in pushing thier Camaro to the limit.

    Remember the 2.0 is actually a sister to the Cadillac ATS. Chevy adopted the Caddy chassis and brought the 2.0 turbo along with it and this chassis is excellent. I own a 19 crush orange 2LT RS with a sunroof, tech package, heated and ventilated leather seats and dual climate. All that with the added looks of the RS package makes a sweet ride. It's a very quick, not drag race fast car that impresses everybody. Essentially it's a 2SS but with the 2.0 I4 instead of the V8. I added my own touches to it as well and the best part is I daily drive 40km a day to work and back and even with premium 91 fuel I'm putting $50 every week and a half and this is now 2024 so gas is not cheap. Try and get that mileage in an SS or ZL1.

      yeah but v8s are bad for carbon emissions and aren't fuel efficient. europe is leading the race in this and its filtering into the US everyday. also the next generation sees the v8 engine as a novelty. times up for v8s. i love them but the idea is lightweight and nimble engines, with big power. volvo is the prime example of this. their polestar engine has two electric engines, twincharged, with an inline 4. thats the future replacement for big power v8s. and insane stealership prices for maintenance.

    You do understand that even though you get the wait difference of 300 compared to the V8, you still low by 180 horse power and Trq.. I understand you are lighter, but that wont make a difference when the other car makes x2 more power and torque with a big time difference in 0-60, quartermile, and even track time. No competition. More top speed etc.. if you upgrade components to beat a v6 and v8 camaro, you would be spending more or same if you you would've just bought a SS

      I was just saying that you can feel the difference in the handling. Going into corners feels better in a lighter car. you are right about the overall speed on paper, it would cost too much to replicate the lap time of an SS 1LE but when you add a downpipe and a tune for $800 you get 400 lb ft of torque out of the 2 liter which gives you that great shove out of corners just like the SS.
      What i'm saying is with a tune the fun factor in canyon driving is identical especially at altitude because the turbo motor hardly loses power compared to the NA V8.
      Don't get me wrong though I would recommend the V8 to most people for the sound alone though.

      Yeah that's why I got into bikes. My XSR is probably about as quick as that modified SS but my bike was $8,000 out the door lol
      The bang for the buck with motorcycles is unbeatable. You just have to be very experienced and safe about it
