Not really. Story has a lot of plotholes and gameplay was a step back (only 10 point slash was worthy) compared to 2 so...
Onimusha Warlords was introduction game like Resident Evil gameplay with demons in feudal Japan, 2nd was good story, weapons and main character, 4th have best gameplay and criticals, and 3rd have best characters, opening cinematic and overall best game in franchise IMO.

First game I played on PS2. My parents bought it for me for Christmas played it with my cousins all Christmas day and night.
Onimusha 2 was crazy, if you complete the game three times in a row. It opens up an entirely different game in black and white and the challenges go up to very hard and extremely hard.
This was amazing as a child i remember fighting out of pure fear lol

i remember sensing pure malice and a vibe of terror from the demons, especially the tall undead Samurais, how they just love choking people to death.
I'm playing the remaster now. It was that doll that scared the shit out of me when I was younger. Haven't gotten upto that part yet😰

One of my favourite CAPCOM franchises back on PS2. A great classic to relive and enjoy a week before the RE2 remake.
Feels like ages ... I used to practice getting counter strikes on all enemies. Fun classic game
This game was fun
I got to the point of being able to counter the rolling enemies and ninjas on a whim, but certain ones I never got the timing down. 2001: a great year for gaming.

Man, the memories! The first PS2 game I ever bought. It was a premiere title back then and I could've bought two games for the price I paid for this but I knew from the cover alone that this would be so worth it. I'm a huge fan of anything samurai related from Kurosawa and Kobayashi films to manga like Lone Wolf & Cub, Vagabond, Blade of the Immortal etc so this was right up my alley.
I remember being stuck at a puzzle midway through the game which took me a few days to solve and how great that made me feel. Made my childhood so much more enjoyable. Especially since my schooldays were really shitty and a dark period for me.
im familiar with ur case :). mjss the old days when games were complete without dlcs, multiplayer was offline, they were trashed by society so they were masterpieces made with love not for money. now sadly they got contaminated and are used for political indocrination...

I played it on the Xbox classic and I can exactly remember how my father gave it to me as a gift...
I love it!
Oh the struggle I had to endure not having a memory card whenever I get to the water puzzle part which takes hours later on the game and not solving it I end up dying and starting all over again. Now consoles have built in storage lol
I did the same thing with star wars rogue squadron for gamecube. I would get really far just to have to start over. It was frustrating at the time but gives me a lot of nostalgia now
I never beat Onimusha 1 when younger because the puzzles drove me away. Finished Samurai's Destiny, Demon Siege, and Dawn of Dreams however. Thanks for the walkthrough. I was finally able to beat it.
Hopefully they remaster the other ones too this could actually be something to hold us off for a new one as well

Funny, I still have 2 PlayStation 2s and the original copy of Onimusha Warlords. Along with other great games. Damn shame this and the next "Next Gen" gaming can't match what the previous ones had going. Now it's just bullshit money grab.

It's been so long, but I remember everything. Every voice actor, every weapon, every mob/boss and every sound. Fucking loved this game
No wonder I loved Sekiro so much :P
This game has the potential to go further and it has a great storyline all they have to do is revisit it with a multitude of indepth analysis to rediscover what can be added and so on......I am going to buy the remastered ps4 soon

Ah, this playthrough brings me good memories. By the way, repeating the bridge 22:14 is the best place to gain souls at the beginning.
I happily got all my trophies for this wonderful blast from the past. Now give me the rest of the series in HD and I will do that as well!
Remember playing Warlords over and over until 2 and 3 came out on PS2 then moving to Dawn of Dreams on PS3! This is my whole child hood in a game, love it
I know this is a two-year old comment, but Dawn of Dreams was on the PS2, like the rest, not the PS3. I think it came out at an overlapping time when the PS3 was already out and the PS2 was winding down. Could that be what you’re thinking?

Played this as a kid and loved it despite only ever making it to about 18:30 lol. I was probably around 7-8 and didn't have a memory card for my ps2.

But to be honest onimusha reminds of resident evil code veronica and Resident evil origins i dont know why.. . the only difference is the samurai settings of the game.. I think the developers in onimusha loves resident evil classic made by capcom developers...

On what grounds is this like Dark Souls? The movement that is core to gameplay in Dark Souls is entirely absent from Onimusha.

One thing I learned on this game early is that you need to block and also make sure you have the perfect attack mastered. That’s when you can block and do a critical at the same moment after you blocked. It gives you a lot more souls and it’s really good in clearing out enemies. This guy does not know how to block early in the game. Very frustrating

Honestly one of capcoma best work on this series. It was sad to see them abandon this game until the remastered version. Im so glad they at least came back to this game for a remastered. Now we need 2, 3, and dawn of dreams remaster. This is one of the best games.
Hey not sure if you realised but you can tap L2 to bring out your Bow. And R2 will cycle through your swords. It’s much faster than going to your menus each time you want to change a weapon 👍🏼

I remember I rented this game back in the days. I didnt have any memory card and didnt realize that if you died it was game over. I died like a million times til i got so angry with the game that I beat it without mcard and no deaths. proudest day of my life !!

My beloved memories of this Game.... This was the Nioh-Dark Souls of the PS2 Era no one can deny that atleast. 😅🔥 ( I struggled with this game during PS2 , but it still is a good and awsome gem of a Game ). Ofc being a young teenage gave me difficulties tackling this game before decade and half ago , but regardless its a brilliant game during that Era surely. 🔥

@@AlekseiS12 That the composer Mamoru Samuragochi who claimed to be deaf was a fraud, he wasnt 100% deaf, and he hired someone to write his music. Thats why the remastered version does not use his music from the original game.
