  • Acute Occupational Therapy provides individual assessment and intervention to facilitate a safe, efficient and timely discharge from St Mary's Hospital on the Isle of Wight, for patients with complex physical / mental health and social needs. The case-load weighting tool has been adapted in line with our specific service remit in order to ease efficacy and ensure fair case-load allocation on a daily basis. It enables the team to prioritise workload effectively and efficiently, ensuring that patients get the appropriate and most effective level of input required. The new way of working has had an enormous impact on the way the service works and functions. The team works much more effectively together and is able to organise and structure the working day together, which reduces work-related stress and improves communication, trust and respect. The team is able to stay focused as a team on achieving the organisation's goals.
